It is not Navy that has the answer, but Shuwen. At last, the bear stirs. With one great arm, he pulls a table towards the center of the room. Nearby, much like in Jirachi’s room, there are toys which a child might find amusing. He pulls out a stack of paper. Next, crayons.[break][break]
Navy watches with fascination as the bear starts to draw. He scrawls out pictures in crayon. Garish red, black, even some blue. Eventually, he slides the paper over to Navy. Looking down at it, the Sheriff can’t help but burst out into laughter. He laughs so hard that he nearly falls over. Forgetting the severity, he turns it towards Eris.[break][break]
The bear has drawn a scene from an anime. Eris and Navy are having a standoff. She has Reiner with her. He has Shuwen. It looks like something a 3 year old would draw.[break][break]
“Ah, so you’re approaching me?” The Navy of the comic asks. “You know the power of an Urshifu, which Messy worked so hard to tell you about like a student scrambling last minute on a homework assignment, and you’re still approaching me?”[break][break]
Eris approaches in the drawing. “I’ve gotta get closer to kick your ass.”[break][break]
“Ah, then come as close as you like!” Reiner and Shuwen’s fists turn into a blur.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]It's like watching a statue come to life, the shadows shifting with Shuwen's hulking figure as he bumbles about getting things together. Whatever is then presented to Navy eventually makes it to her, the laughter he bursts into providing very little context as to what she should expect.[break][break]

It's a mere comic, one so shoddily drawn that it feels like something that would be pinned up on a fridge somewhere. But the storyline itself is so bizarre that she can't help but question for a moment if she's truly lost it. Why is Reiner throwing fists instead of using his lightning? What's with that horrible villain monologue that Navy makes? Confusion is the first thing to take hold as she finds a peace of mind in attempting to dissect every segment of this strip.[break][break]

But perhaps, this messiness holds a magical flair far stronger than she understands, a small snort with a pained squint slowly turned towards Navy. For his horrible sense of humour? For how bad (she feels a little guilty thinking this) it looks with the awful mix of colours?[break][break]

Reiner watches close as she reaches for the paper, almost instantly coming to the same opinion as her (only that he's much less guilty in doing so). And he'll slowly get to his feet, hushing her when her attention snaps straight to him as he cocks his head towards the table. Thanks to Shuwen, a few steps are all he needs to grab a few crayons, dropping them right into her lap before laying right back down beside her.[break][break]

Hesitation is gently nudged away, the Luxray giving her a knowing look as he lifts a paw. The tremors might not go away but he'll wait, grunting as he awkwardly attempts to squeeze her hand, to coax those clenched fists into relaxing for even a second.

Picking up on what they’re doing, Navy picks up a few crayons of his own. They’re a bit too old for this, both of them, but that makes no matter.[break][break]
“Here, lemme show you the Navidson family special.” He starts scrawling away at the paper. Flicking the green crayon in a spiral pattern, he starts trying to remember details from memory. Until just this past year, the subject of his drawing was known to him only through whispers and legend. Only in the moments before his visit to Galar did he glimpse the real deal.[break][break]
The Navidson family special, as it turns out, is a mediocre piece of art representing Rayquaza. It’s alright, in the way everything Navy does is pretty much alright, but it’s off. He’s proud of it, especially the tiny Garchomp in the corner. Shuwen, whose eyes are always serious, betraying nothing of his thoughts, sits beside Navy. He draws his own figures as well.[break][break]
It seems the bear has decided he’s the appointed head of the crayon art club.[break][break]
“Hope you guys like it.” He says bashfully. “Rayquaza was my hero growing up.” He’s admit that to two people before in his life: Kyle and Josh. Both for very different reasons. Navy gives the self-satisfied smile of a big brother and peeks to see what Eris has drawn.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Rayquaza as a hero... Not quite the hero she imagined Navy to have but people can have their preferences? She too, remembers having heroes once - Several betrayed her, and the brightest ones lost their light because of her.[break][break]

When her clutch unravels, her palm aches to pick up a crayon. But pushing through is how she bears with it, shaky lines placed down on the blank spaces as she begins to draw. A strange mechanical bunny twirling about, a giant blue and white leviathan calling the waves, a vague little sprite that flits around a tanabata tree. Stories that once cradled her to sleep are all that she has to hold onto, but her attention to detail cannot salvage what she's never seen before.

He works at his own paper while watching her work. Just a little bit more now. Navy turns his eyes to Shuwen. The bear still endeavors to work at the old paper with that serious face, hard as granite stone. He loves the Urshifu for what it has done. Just a little it more, a little further…[break][break]
Of the figures she has drawn, the one that draws his eye the most is the sprite flitting about the tree. If it’s who he thinks it is, he wonders how she would react to the knowledge that Jirachi is in the same building as them. Best not. The walls have ears. His world is a spinning plate of secrets.[break][break]
“I like that one.” He says, tapping the sprite. “Is the blue one Kyogre?”

[attr="class","inner-finally"]He likes the wish-maker? It feels so strange but somehow befitting of his teddy bear-like personality. She might not know what secrets he hides from her, but it won't be too long until someone else unveils that box of secrets to her. For now, she looks to the one he points out.[break][break]

"Lugia."[break][break]

Is her drawing really that bad? She had created an exact copy of that great sea guardian, only chosen to colour her in as the legends once portrayed her. Before her stories would be forever twisted into the nightmares whispered of today.[break][break]

Her silence grows even louder, eaten away by the tapping of crayons against the floor. Cillian Quinn would probably kill her if she ever posed a threat, wouldn't he? At the very least, he would never agree with her naive little thoughts, nor would he be cordial over what could essentially be perceived as betrayal. Would she be strong enough to defend against him? Sure, she had some experiences that not many others her age would... but did she really stand a chance against someone who had been so deeply involved with the takeover of Kanto?[break][break]

She takes a deep breath and continues to sketch. The bringer of life, the embodiment of death. A small hedgehog nestled in a field of gracideas, a metallic blob chowing down on scrap metal and coins. All beings of myths that she's seen, creatures that she's sure her mother would've loved to see.

“Oh.” He says, tone flat as a board. It looked far different the two times he saw Lugia. Once more he remembers the prayers his brother shared with him on stormy nights. She looked different, once upon a time. That’s a matter for another time. He’s not seen Kyogre to spot the differences between the two.[break][break]
Picking up on what Eris is drawing, Navy starts drawing his own collection of legendaries. Cobalion comes first, garbed in sharp blues. Try as he might, Navy is no artist. He fails to capture just how prissy the creature is. How passing strange he can even call such a creature prissy. Next is Spectrier, followed by Urshifu. Entei as well, roaring with Kyle himself riding on top of the guardian beast.[break][break]
Last are the two heroes. Particular focus is placed on the wolf wielding a sword. Navy sacrificed much to return her strength to her. Thoughts of a daughter that never lived cause his eyes to flit to Eris. It’s his turn to feel his hand tremble.[break][break]
Arceus, League and Rocket are fucked up… he ruminates, letting kids like her n’ Hideo go somewhere like that…[break][break]
Once more, he fills the hollow pit of his grief with anger at a system he cannot change.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]Drawing legendaries they've encountered before really isn't something she expects an adult to go along with, but it really is something that brings peace for the time being. Even if Navy doesn't seem all too happy about Lugia being drawn out.[break][break]

When he starts to scribble, she gathers her thoughts, stilling her heart and shoving whatever worries she can grasp to the back of her mind. What has he drawn? A ghostly horse. Shuwen. Cobalion, and some cat? Lion? Person riding a tiger? Must be another one she hasn't seen, since he's following her theme so dutifully.[break][break]

But then comes the wolves, the creature that they'd spotted not too long ago and probably held the secrets to whatever messy memories she has. It had all felt like a dream, a nightmare that had held her hostage for so long. She isn't particularly sure why but loneliness is the only feeling that seeps in as she reaches for her own neck, tugging at a thin silver chain until a ring is pulled out too.[break][break]

A promise, one slowly fading like the wonders of a dream. Would Navy know anything about this ring she'd woken up with? What else had she lost besides her father and her start at a new life?
