This is his first time visiting the MAGNIFICENT FUNTASIA. Having decided that HERSCHEL would probably enjoy the experience, the black-haired royal decide to strap the GREEN APPLIN to his chest with a carrier typically reserved for human babies. The visit to the department store to buy such a device had been a little awkward considering he had no human baby of his own.

Nevertheless, if anyone who knew about his dark past happened to find him there, then perhaps the innocent little Pokémon strapped to his chest would soothe any worries or prevent any acts of aggression. It also helped that it was BULLETPROOF.

Thankfully, ollie morales had always displayed a sort of charitable faith in him. Though Remiel knew that only went so far. The fact that the RANGER CAPTAIN had been open to the idea of meeting here and getting to know each other better spoke to his willingness to help him mend things, however.

After meeting where they said they would, the pair joined the crowds of people walking through the festival on this beautiful sunny afternoon. But it wasn't long before Remiel veered them toward a nearby carnival game at Herschel's insistence: a DUGTRIO-RING-TOSS.

Remiel crosses his arms and watches as the lineup of people in front of them finish their turns. "Your hand-eye coordination must be pretty sharp, right?" He asks Ollie after glancing his way. "I heard rangers of old used to play a version of this game in the old western days."

[break][break] right behind the galarian, ollie appears in true ollie morales fashion: with a bright grin, broad shoulders, and dressed head-to-toe in ranger gear. even if he was technically off-shift. the golden and white outfit would have been recognizable to anyone in evergrande, and anyone who knew him.

[break][break] a little while after, they spend a few minutes walking around the carnival until the royal drags him towards the DUGTRIO-RING-TOSS.

[break][break] "oh, did they?" he asks curiously, laughing as he watches the people in front of them miss their toss. "i guess so! lars and i used to have to do training like this as newbie rangers."

[break][break] with that, ollie steps up to the plate and hands money over to the vendor. he aims carefully and then gives a careless toss, which ends up missing.

[break][break] "aw," ollie says, turning sheepish as he rubs his neck. "looks like i need some practice."

Herschel relishes in Ollie's attention. Remiel, in the meantime, silently wishes the green Applin wasn't so spoiled by everyone. Thankfully, the ring-toss game serves as a good distraction from any further indulging.

The exiled prince watches as Ollie gives it the old college try. He laments the miss with a mutter. Then, picking up his own ring and weighing it in his hand, Remiel nods. "Seems easy enough... let me give it a try."

He takes a step back as he sizes up the fake Diglett ahead... then, shifting in posture, he readies his arm before narrowing his eyes on his target. One might expect a quick throw but, instead, he casts the ring rather gracefully before it slowly glides through the air and—

Ding-ding!

A win!

Herschel cheers rather cutely as Remiel chuckles. "Beginner's luck." He insists, turning away from Ollie to face the approaching carnival game attendant.

"Congratulations sir! Would you like to continue to shoot for bigger and better prizes? Or would you like to stop here and select one of our mini-prizes instead?" The woman inquiries, gesturing towards the counter to point out an assortment of novelty items.

The royal spares them a brief glance before turning back to Ollie. "What do you think? I'm tempted to go for that Callan Young eraser and call it quits."

[break][break] "though, the Greyson Connors's bobblehead is pretty good too. it captures his frown real well."

[break][break] he pointed — the small bobblehead captured the other elite four's grimace with almost pinpoint accuracy. well, in ollie's opinion anyway.

Despite a rather tense meeting with her, dahlia goode still inspired a feeling of something... admirable within the prince. He chuckles at Ollie's suggestion, then nods. "Alright then. But if I win the T-shirt, you'll win your own and we'll wear it together. Otherwise, I won't wear it at all. Deal?"

Wearing an oversized dahlia goode T-shirt beside the ranger, the royal takes a small bite from the bucket of kettle corn in his hands before dropping a few within the Applin's shell. The little wyrm within rattles about as it greedily scarfs them down with a cute little growl. Remiel, in the meantime, regrets not having purchased a portable mister. They're waiting in line for the tea-cup spinner ride, and he'd just about anything to take his mind off the heat.

"Congratulations on the promotion, by the way." He says, turning to his companion with a smile.

[break][break] an uneasy laugh bubbles it's way up his throat, as he scoops the rest of the frozen yogurt he'd gotten into his mouth.

"It's odd seeing myself as a ranger, you're right," The royal responds, gently petting his Applin's shell as he admires the sight of spinning teacups waiting for them at the end of the line. It'd been some time since he'd last enjoyed such a ride. So much had changed since then.

"Did I ever tell you I was nearly arrested by a ranger within my first year in Hoenn?" Remiel continues, shifting his gaze back onto his companion."Unsanctioned archaeological research on a Draconid heritage site. I never would have imagined marrying the two together someday." He chuckles.

[break][break] arrest wasn't usually in the ranger's guidebook of things they could do. that sort of stuff was left to local police, like paxton concordas. then again, in a region like hoenn, everything was up for grab's.

Of course, now that he was an official citizen of HOENN and not its GALARIAN AMBASSADOR, he could no longer play that card. He was at the mercy of all its laws and punishments like any common civilian. And he understands now that it probably should have been that way from the start.[break][break]

When asked what it's been like integrating into the ranks of the rangers, however, Remiel masks his pause alongside the advancement of the waiting queue. "The work has been fulfilling," He eventually responds, choosing to start with the brighter points. "I'm always grateful that it complements my efforts in archaeology as well. It's been a busy year." [attr="class","body"] ollie chuckles. it's an idea that he can relate to, remembering his own early adventures as a ranger, though he can't imagine it would've been a good first impression for someone like Remiel Calcifet to be arrested — or an attempt at an arrest — by a ranger.

[break][break] the head ranger bobs his head in agreement as the other comments on his work as a ranger. it has been busy, and ollie still feels like he still hasn't gotten anywhere in his huge stack of paperwork on his desk.

[break][break] now that he was head ranger, he had more responsibility over everyone than before, including the ones in the amnesty program.

[break][break] he was supposed to be a rising star, but instead - sometimes - these days he felt like a comet that was hurtling spectacularly towards the ground.

The young ranger cadet wouldn't have cared about first impressions had he known he'd nearly (unlawfully) arrested a TEAM ROCKET ADMIN at the time. It was a thought that had crossed Remiel's mind briefly, adding a bit of darkness to his amusement. Everything surrounding he AMNESTY PROGRAM was still a touchy subject, however, so he leaves that unsaid.[break][break]

He responds as they are escorted to a large teacup in the style of a SINISTEA. The Applin strapped to his chest cheers as they take their seat. Remiel's expression, on the other hand, shifts towards something more unsure as he looks towards a family enjoying their packed lunches afar.[break][break]

"I just... well... it still feels like those on the AMNESTY PROGRAM haven't been given a seat at the table yet. It's been half a year and most of us are still treated like outsiders. Do you think it's fair to expect otherwise? Do you think it's still too early to do so?" He inquires.[break][break]

[break][break] the amnesty program was meant to set up those who wished to transition from a life in rocket to a better life. it was meant to help them absolve them of their crimes, alleviate their stressors and help them lead a normal life.

[break][break] "well," he seemed thoughtful, as he seated himself in the teacup aside the other. "i guess so? maybe? i think a life of crime is kinda hard to erase in a couple of months."

[break][break] it was the harsh truth, but one that ollie felt was the most common belief.

"That's just it," Remiel calmly retorts, placing a hand on his Applin as it wiggles about excitedly for the ride to start. "Is it fair to judge everyone for a 'life' of crime when some only had a brief lapse in judgment? Should they be denied the chance to prove themselves on the basis that they are still deemed untrustworthy? And, if that's the case, who deems them so?"[break][break]

In his IDEAL WORLD, most of TEAM ROCKET would be given a second chance to redeem themselves. Even someone who had actually made the organization and its principles their livelihood. Someone like jayden cross for example.[break][break]

And anyone who spat in the face of that second chance? Anyone who broke that sacred trust? Only then— outside the most heinous criminal offenders like Cillian Quinn or declan walsh— could Remiel see the validation for such extreme bias.[break][break]

[break][break] though perhaps too much time. the system is antiquated, ollie knows that much, but he has never really thought that antiquated meant bad.

[break][break] "you make sense though," he says with a shrug. "but isn't that just part of the system? some mistakes you can never take back."

[break][break] he thinks about his own relationship with PENELOPE LIVY. while not nearly as grievous, it certainly was something that plagued his mind for months. she would never forget the way that he'd betrayed her. despite what willow atkins and Katherine Fairburne thought, she might never forgive him.
