Going back here was definitely unwise. Yet Johanna found herself in the depths once more.

But this time she was older and wiser. Unlike her last visit with Eris Halla, she knew now that she could not handle the radiation on her own.

And so looking at her companion for the day Alexei Ivanov, she said. “We should definitely share the burden of the radiation.”

The moment he saw the Gengar, though, the heebie-jeebies bothering him literally came out in full-force. It took him all his willpower not to run away screaming, because—

That was a fucking ghost right there!

Despite him being the ‘renown’ Flying-themed specialist of the region, he also had other Pokémon types, so without further ado he then popped out his Garchomp, who roared before seeing the pile of… ‘dirt’ to dig in.

“Help yourself,” he said, lasering in on his Garchomp maybe just a little too much, because his ‘g-dar’ was now permanently on high alert because of the Gengar right there!

As an afterthought, he then popped out—well, it was going to be an open secret to the people that knew him that he had this Pokémon anyway…

The Wandering Stormbringer himself, Tornadus, appeared and cast the same ‘wall of wind’ as a protection around their area while they continued to mine the area.

The pair went to work mining as well as they could. And as they did Johanna’s eyes strayed to the Pokemon that Alexei summoned. First was a Garchomp, and then a Tornadus… She had to do a double take.

Wait, was that really a Tornadus? For a moment she considered asking about it. But figured they had work to do and ore to mine. And so she let it be as she went to work. If she had learned anything from the previous visits, then it was that she had to focus, ignore the world around her, any smells, sights, and even sounds.

“Mooooooooooo”

Her mining came to a grinding halt. She heard the heavy thudding hoof-steps another abomination approaching.

By the time the creature came close enough to see both Gengar and Marshadow jumped from their respective shadows trying to ambush it, they found their advance halted upon the moment of impact.

Pink near humanoid arms had blocked the punches. As they hung there for a moment they gazed upon the muscular pink Miltank-Marchamp hybrid.

“Mooo.” It threw the ghosts away with ease, crashing them against the rock walls. But that did not stop them, they were quick to jump into a counter offensive. DRAIN PUNCHES and PAYBACK blows rained upon the ungodly creature for as long as either ghost could last.

At last the abomination relented, and fell to the ground defeated.

Johanna wondered how Alexei was doing.

While the Wandering Stormbringer was on the defensive and keeping the wall up, his Garchomp was too busy diving in and out and hacking apart the mineral deposit he’d found with his claw-blades; entirely too happy to be dirt-bathing in so long.

It didn’t take too long for him to also hear the strange, moo’ing noise. Wait, moo’ing noise?! Weren’t Miltank the only ones who could—

He wished he didn’t look over at the monstrosity that Miss Johanna was dealing with. Holy shit, where did he put the eye bleach?!

His peace wouldn’t last for too long either, because there was a sibilant roaring noise approaching—and rather than running away screaming, the thing that came approaching him was…

“Of all the things—” he croaked, barely concealing the bubble of laughter that threatened to break out of him.

“What the fuck is that?!”

A few moments later the ‘wind wall’ came collapsing down as the Tornadus charged forward with a Dragon Hammer and smacked himself upon the… the abomination that sent it flying; which in turn shook the entire cavern where they were digging upon impact.

While horror was granted to Johanna in the form of a fusion beast, it seemed Alexei was given something to lighten the mood?

Even Johanna found the sight amusing. But something told her that it wouldn’t be the last time they saw something like this. So, as her Pokemon reconvened with her she pondered the continued success of their mining if they stayed.

And as if on cue she felt a wave of mental anguish gripping her, like a bad dizzying headache. She looked to the walls of the cave and saw its sudden fleshy texture. Eye-like shapes adorning the walls, providing a momentary peek into another world?

Whatever it was she saw, it certainly wasn’t good. They ought to get out.

“I think we might’ve overstayed our welcome. Let’s just grab what we can carry and get out of here?” She suggested with full intent to carry her intentions out.
