Tapping her hands against the fluctuating otherworldly walls that formed the chambers around the gargantuan core, her arrival here would mark her fourth venture into the Ultra Deep Sea. The draw this place had on Desiree's golden gaze was a strong one, even with all of the dangerous scenarios she'd found herself in prior- extreme hallucinations, the walls having eyes, the wretched fusions of innocent beings. Just what was the secret of these pits of almost novel-like magical sensations?[break][break]

She walked beside her companion to this crystal-mining expedition, Alexei Ivanov, looking for spots around the core that had yet to be mined; her Blissy and Hatterene would not be farther than arms reach in case anything would be going down. Crouching at the sight of a physical manifestation of crystalline on the ground, Desiree would be set on the collection, scooping shards into her purse after each hit of her pickaxe. Though the effects of the radiation were beginning to seep in during her mine, Gloss the Hatterene would be quick to release her AROMATIC MIST.[break][break]

"How are you holding up, Alexei ♡? Hatterene's pink dust might help take the edge off, I don't have any Budew leaf tea, though." Her trip with Remiel into the wretched sea was made easier due to those natural anxiety-ridding properties, but she'd yet to find or inquire just where he had added them to his belongings. Hopefully, the mist and a cigarette would be enough, and this time, she'd brought a big plastic pink jug of water in case the two got thirsty.[break][break]

As she collected crystal after crystal, with each one, the visuals of the hallucinogens became more and more potent, swirling within her golden gaze.

This, thankfully, wasn’t his first rodeo here—although to be honest having a companion along relieved the feeling of being constantly mentally assaulted from all sides, all at once.

“I’ve been here before, so it’s nothing too big. Thing is… the longer you stay here, the more this place messes with your head,” he hummed quietly as he brought out a Kleavor, a Midday Lycanroc, and a Garchomp—his usual suspects when it came to digging.

“Go, start digging,” he said to the three—and off they went, destroying as much dirt as they could with their claws and scythes.

“And the longer one stays here, the… the more… potent, those visions become. You’ll know when you see them.”

"It's not kind on the mind like some hallucinogens, you're right." She'd remark, gathering the fragmentals of poisonous crystalline and slipping the chunks into her bag. Though Desiree was the kind of person to indulge in the shifting of the rainbow kaleidoscope often, even when it came to traveling into the Ultra Deep Sea despite the recommendation not to by many, the effects this giant radiant core had for those that traveled deep were not something she was fond of. Thankfully each trip back was proving less and less demanding when it came to the harsh effects, though, it helped that her companions were in high spirits in comparison to her first.[break][break]

Funneling the water that resided in her big jug through the straw, engulfed in the cloud of pink mist granted by the Hatterene, the expected arrival of strange pokemon began; even with the swirling of her gaze and the shifting of the walls, a familiar tentacle-ridden beast had began to sulk closer, a quick sight from behind a spire. Without the need of a command, the fairy and psychic type would be quick to leap forward into the air and dish out a PSYCHO-CUT, her hand-like appendage on her hat imbued with a deep pink psychic aura.[break][break]

Gloss seemed to have the wild, hostile pokemon in check, even with the poisonous retaliation that would follow her slash. Raising the jug up to the blurry Alexei that resided close to her, his pokemon chipping away at the clusters of tera shards, she'd offer it to him with her body language. "Even with the spells of the core, this place has quite a bit of a unique charm to it. ♡ Do you know why it looks like space on the outside of the walls? I've always wondered every time I've come here."

He was hoping to not run into any of these… oh, no.

He knew just how deadly those were, having witnessed their terrifying power first hand a few years ago down at Lilycove… and he shook his head.

Wait, why did it look like he was staring into the far reaches of space through those cracks in the…

“See?” he managed to croak, shaking his head a little and blinking several times, hard, to regain his focus on reality. “It’s starting.”

He turned to where his Kleavor, his Garchomp and Lycanroc were digging—having already sent several shards flying. Just to be safe, he’d summon his Salamence, who emerged from the beam of red light with a roar; the better to keep an eye on the approaching nasties.

“Yeah. Let’s keep digging.”

The approaching tentacle monsters were nothing short of frightening with their seeping poisons, to say the least. But thankfully it appeared to have been dispelled by the collaborative effort, whether that was the initial attack of the Hatterene or the dragon type's intimidation factor. Looking toward Alexei and motioning as if she was wiping the sweat off her head as if she were trying to give a nonverbal 'phew', Desiree continued to pick up the discarded fractals of ore, wondering just what the Ultra Deep Sea had in store from them after this typical encounter. She hoped above all else the radiation would go easy on the gym leader, he was far too sweet for any of that kind of nonsense. [break][break]

Like the crackling and release of a whip, the pounding sensation of the gargantuan core manifested within the pinkette's mind; it started with that familiar swirling of her vision and then the aching of her head, causing the eyes to shift as if they were blinking, turning, twisting, ripping. Accompanied by a sound that mimicked a giggle, a scuffling sound manifested from deeper in the corridor. Gaze turning with the rest of her body to face the noise, it looked to be a beast with the body of an ashen dragonite with the head of a claydol, its eyes twisting endlessly upon the face.[break][break]

Channeling cerulean energy into its eyes, a HYPER BEAM shot out of them facing Desiree and the Hatterene beside her- they both hurled themselves onto the ground beside them and rolled after that initial grunt of, well, slamming into the ground. Quite the slim encounter, she'd put all those summer diving muscles she gained to the test and push herself back up as Gloss hurled forward.[break][break]

"It's angry, Alexei!" She shouted toward him, their surroundings temporarily illuminated by the DAZZLING GLEAM cast from the fairy-type's hat. Though it took the hit head-on, the amalgamation of the dragon and psychic type pokemon continued to approach, determined to quell its bloodlust. That is if it even had any real thoughts at all.

It was like this damned thing was going to be eternally chasing him, no matter where he went…

He felt a chill run down his spine the moment he saw the one that his friend was currently fighting, because holy shit what was up with this place, how could it produce extremely potent apparitions that bellowed and screamed in distorted voices…

“What the fuck is that?!” he exclaimed at the sight of the body of the Dragonite but it had the stubby arms of a… holy fucking shit what was this abomination?!

He’d gotten so swept up in what she was fighting, he almost very nearly missed the familiar sight of the three-headed Salamence perched on the body of a Dodrio…



“RUN!” he yelled as he dropped his Gardevoir, who then burst forth with a Moonblast spread across the entire space; trying to hit her abomination and his own ‘visitor’.

With the two amalgamations of pokemon and Alexei's plea to run, Desiree did not need much more convincing to hop on her Tropius and get the hell out of there- these dragon-like weird meshes of beasts were just as hostile as they were intimidating, and damn was her vision starting to go absolutely mad. Huffing as she booked it toward her already released Tropius, the pinkette made her way on amidst her struggle to breathe (after a couple of failed tries to hop on and slip right off of the saddle) and hovered in the air upon the grass-type. But as if the manifestations of the grim creatures had expired shortly thereafter, the combination of the Claydol and Dragonite wisped into fragments and dust, fading into the eyes that had looked from the starry walls.[break][break]

There were more and more eyes perceiving the duo, it felt quite wrong, not even accounting for the wavering they were doing in her eyesight. Shooting towards Alexei with a hand raised out to possibly scoop him up onto the saddle, her heavy breathing was met with nausea in her stomach- but they had to leave, it was definitely time. "Alexei, hop on! We need to get the hell out of here~!" She exclaimed, the leaf wings of Banaynay pushing gusts of wind behind them. Surely he had more than enough pokemon to fly on with him, but time was ticking, and more eyes were blinking.[break][break]

While she flew towards him crystals fell out of her purse one by one, unstabilized by her labored movement. But the haul wasn't as important as them making it out with their lives, so she didn't quite care- as if she even noticed in the first place.

He thought he would never see the day that he would have to get the hell out of the place on the back of a Tropius—but what other choice did they have?

“Coming!” he yelped as he quickly recalled all of his Pokémon, saving his Gardevoir for the very last as he then took a running start and grabbed her hand—hoisting himself on the back of the Tropius and then noticing that what she’d managed to cram into her bag was falling out!

“Whoa!” he added as he quickly made to grab some, making sure to hand her at least one handful to her as they got the hell out of there.

“Here, I caught some of the stuff for you.”

Hopefully they wouldn’t have to deal with any more of those blasted Ultra Beasts for the immediate future…
