As many of her fellow Rockets attempted to breach the island, Nomi kept an eye out for League forces already present, reporting back to her peers their movements and activity.[break][break]
Huddled amidst the underbrush just off the coast, she sat quietly, her own eyes were an eerie neutral-white as she looked through the eyes of her Unown - practicing the art of rapidly switching between them, like security cameras set up around a designated perimeter.[break][break]
She switched to Kallistatus, head starting to ache from how long she'd been in this state - she was still figuring out the limits of her new abilities - and immediately noticed the man failing to sway a Pheromosa into following him. She paused, her mental link with Kallistatus ordering him to stay and watch. It seemed the Pheromosa wanted nothing to do with her supposed partner. The man was unfamiliar to Nomi, but the fact that he was unmasked and dressed in proper military gear meant he was surely a member of the League come to claim the island.[break][break]
If he was having trouble with a Pokemon, perhaps he wasn't a particularly talented trainer. That would bode well for Nomi.[break][break]
Get a little closer, she thought at Kallistatus. I want to figure out his objective.[break][break]
The shiny Unown-K obeyed, drifting closer to the unsuspecting Greyson Connors.

Kallistatus barely teleported in time, the TRIPLE KICK missing it by mere inches. The Pheromosa was fast, which Nomi chastised herself for forgetting.[break][break]
The shiny Unown-K reappeared next to Nomi, and her vision returned to normal. She could still see the man from her vantage point, but in far less detail. She did notice that his Pheromosa was still frustratingly alert, her gaze tracing the horizon for the missing Unown. Sooner or later, she'd find Nomi's hiding spot.[break][break]
"Ultra Beasts are quite adept," she muttered. Well, she could play that game too, couldn't she? Taking out a Pokeball, Nomi released Datura with a flash of light. The shining, pale Nihilego floated forward, as ethereal and unnerving as ever. Nomi smiled at it, then pointed towards the man and his Pheromosa.[break][break]
"We need to distract that man and his Pokemon," she explained. "Kallistatus will cover you."[break][break]
The Nihilego nodded, undulating, then began to float swiftly away - towards the Pheromosa. As it did, it dropped TOXIC SPIKES around Nomi's position, to protect her should anyone try and get too close.[break][break]
Kallistatus followed after, the Unown-K beginning to glow with a soft orange light, readying a HIDDEN POWER.

The elegant Pheromosa's QUIVER DANCE gave her a boost of unexpected speed. Kallistatus's HIDDEN POWER missed by inches, and the Unwon-K bobbed in the air in annoyance as debris kicked up around it from where the energy had hit the ground. Ahead of it, the shiny Nihilego proceeded forward, unhindered. It did not seem interested in its fellow Ultra Beast; no, it had a different plan in mind.[break][break]
Nomi switched her vision so that she was looking through Kallistatus's eye, which helped her see the makeshift battlefield better. What is Datura doing? She wondered, watching as the otherworldly sea creature ignored the Pheromosa. It whipped its tentacles forward, lightning quick, seeking a different target.[break][break]
And then Nomi understood.[break][break]
It's going to try and poison the trainer.[break][break]
She smiled, intrigued.

The man was quick to avoid the poison, and the kicks of his Pheromosa were quicker still. Datura was pushed back, forced to summon a shimmering MIRROR COAT in hopes of deflecting the incoming damage. The clever bug with her nimble fighting style easily bypassed the attempt, however, due to her grit and physical power. The Nihilego keened softly, a haunting sound. Nomi sighed, realizing the mismatch in speed and typing.[break][break]
Another gym leader? She thought, frustrated.[break][break]
"I'm sick of this," Nomi muttered. Talent, wasted. Time, wasted.[break][break]
Closing her eyes, she focused on Kallistatus. In an instant, she teleported from her hiding spot amidst the TOXIC SPIKES to directly beside the man with the Pheromosa. She returned Datura to its Pokeball before speaking.[break][break]
"Hello," she greeted him pleasantly, smothering the irritation bubbling beneath the surface of her otherwise calm demeanor. "I've never seen someone wear a Comfey like that before." She cocked her head, and though the mask hid her smile, she found that she was genuinely amused. "In any case, I must ask you to call off your Ultra Beast. You're something of a nuisance, and I do not have time for it. None of us do."[break][break]
She needed to get into the cave system, find the source of energy below. The more the League acted as a barrier, the more time there would be for Nomi's real enemy to make a move.

Losing? Losing?[break][break]
She blushed - for his assessment was, at least in part, the truth of it - and though she could swallow scientific failings with a measure of pride, for some reason this made her feel stupidly, utterly foolish.[break][break]
"That's not why I want you to back off," she insisted, sucking in a breath and, with a great effort, forcing aside the indignation that threatened to bubble over. "I was just spying on you and you attacked me, I - "[break][break]
He chuckled, stunning her into silence. Worse yet, he did not take her bait. She'd hooked two of his peers, but this fish was stubborn. All the more tragic, but not entirely unexpected.[break][break]
"I understand what you think you want," she replied with a huff. "I understand that you see the presence of a Rocket on this island as a threat to the success of your mission."[break][break]
Kallistatus began to glow with a soft, rutilated white light.[break][break]
"But I do not see the League as a threat. My enemy is far greater and more complicated, and I am giving you one last chance to believe me when I say that Hoenn's survival depends on people like us setting aside petty squabbles and going our separate ways."[break][break]
She paused.[break][break]
"I can leave at any moment, and you will have no power to stop it. Talking to you is a choice I am making, because despite my initial impression, you are too talented a trainer to be ignored. Your skills are needed in the real war, the one that's coming for all of us, and God will not discriminate between League and Rocket - of that I can assure you."

Navy had been full of a righteous heroism ripe for manipulating, any animosity towards Rocket swiftly set aside when the bait of a larger threat was dangled in front of him. lam logan had been too humble for Nomi to stoke his ego, but open-minded enough that it hadn't mattered. This man, however, held tight to his principles like they were made of gold. His hatred of Rocket was a palpable thing, a dark history fraught with betrayal.[break][break]
She would not win this man over easily. She might not win him over at all.[break][break]
But there was one thing she could do.[break][break]
"Proof," she echoed, ignoring his speech about the League's merit. Neither side was blameless. No government was perfect. She knew for a fact there were members of the League as monstrous as some of her own colleagues. She'd seen for herself through the eyes of her Unown.[break][break]
"Okay. I'll give you something tangible, Greyson Connors," she agreed, finally realizing who this man was - up close, the contours of his face were familiar enough to accurately pinpoint. Elite Four were often televised, their names splashed across newspaper headings.[break][break]
Without giving him any time at all to react, she reached out and grabbed his arm. Summoning the power of Kallistatus, and all of the Unown that were bound to her (mind, body, soul), she yanked Greyson and his Pheromosa right out of Hoenn and into an entirely different plane of existence.[break][break]

"Welcome to the Unown Dimension," she announced pleasantly. She glanced at him, knowing the transfer would leave him in a temporarily disoriented state. "Did you know that the Unown are the oldest living creatures? Save for Arceus, of course."[break][break]
All around them, the Rocket Unown - the entirety of the alphabet - began to swirl and dance in unison amidst a backdrop of purple and blue galaxies full of winking stars.

Maybe parker jones was rubbing off on her, because Nomi almost gloated. The stunned look on Greyson's face was comical: mouth hanging open, eyes as wide as saucers, arms flailing until a hand clamped down on her shoulder. The sudden contact, initiated by him, caused her to jerk back slightly, cheeks reddening beneath her mask. She regained her composure more quickly than he did, however. When he finally gathered himself, and asked the question she knew he would, she was ready for it.[break][break]
"You asked for proof. Here it is," she waved her hand at the Unown. They gathered together, and in the center between them, shimmering blue crystals blossomed, forming into a bust of Nisa Holo. "DRK Triad agent Nisa Holo tried to kill me a few weeks ago, in an attempt to prevent me from becoming the Avatar of the Unown." Nomi paused. "As you can see, she failed."[break][break]
Holo's voice - perfectly reconstructed - echoed throughout the interdimensional space.[break][break]

The Unown pulsed, and Holo faded away. Nomi turned to look at her guest, crimson gaze scrutinizing.[break][break]
"These Unown are loyal to me now, not the DRK Triad. Kallistatus - " Nomi pointed at the blue Unown-K that hovered directly next to her, separate from the others. " - once belonged to Holo, but switched sides when it realized how little she cared for it and its kin."[break][break]
The Unown swirled again, and this time, the blue crystals they'd summoned darkened into a sickly black void. Within them, a vague outline of Hoenn - the region map - could be seen, slowly decaying away into nothingness: the promise of ruination.[break][break]
"The Unown call me the Visionary, Greyson Connors - and I have seen many things already. A terrible fate awaits Hoenn if we continue to focus all of our energy on personal grudges. I'm not telling you to set aside your differences with Rocket. I'm merely asking you to acknowledge the bigger picture."
