Hideo was still on guard duty, but this time, he was doing more than just patrolling for any Rockets; he was on escort duty this time, escorting some injured Leaguers to safety. He wanted to be one of the people battling inland, searching for treasures and new discoveries, but this kind of work was fulfilling in its own right.

Though keeping him at the tail end of the group felt a bit disrespectful. He was a Gym Leader: he should be leading the group! He wasn't really in any position to argue though, so follow along he did.

His Beheeyem pat him on the back, a small comfort; the League would fully acknowledge him at some point. Just keep working hard, and they'd listen to him, maybe even let him get more involved with stuff.

"Keep pushing inland. Make it into those tunnels. We gotta reinforce faster than usual cause of the HEATRAN!" Mint said as a group of grunts surged forward. [break][break]

They come running, cutting their way through the terrain. Mint make note of the upcoming injured and doesn't slow down. "You ready Lincoln? Blast them off!" he said as the grin on his LED helmet turns bigger, and his voice crackles with a strange electronic sound to it. [break][break]

The Loudred doesn't wai,t jumping forward and standing before the line of casualties before inhalling and blasting out a HYPER VOICE, intent on cutting thorugh or at the very least, distracting from the grunt set on infiltrating the tunnels.

The sudden burst of noise was not a pleasant one. It wasn't as grating as a Metal Noise, but it still left Hideo's ears in pain. His Beheeyem got off luckier, and could give Hideo a clear assessment of what happened: they were under attack by a Pokemon, though it couldn't tell if it belonged to someone or was just a wild Pokemon that wandered in here, or was already here like the Heatran.

Knowing every other encounter here, probably the former. But for the moment, he could focus on the issue in front of them: keeping the injured safe.

And that meant taking down what was attacking them. "Elga, quiet that thing down!"

His Beheeyem accepted the order, energy coursing through the ground ahead of it; it pulled out a chunk of rock, tossing the Rock Tomb at the Loudred, to try and push it away from the wounded - all while the Beheeyem and Hideo advanced forward, to try and block the Loudred off.

Lincoln's voice echoes, and even his own trainer s glad to be behind it. But the sudden onslaught of rock shuts up, grunting and yelping as ROCK TOMB comes down and sends him flying. The Loudred managed to avoid being completely squashed but now it has another obstacle. Shaking its head it begins to climb over, trying to see its opponent again. [break][break]

"Don't let up!" Neon shouted as he followed his Loudred, flanking so he could see past the small ROCK TOMB leftovers. Lincoln struggles to get up but once over the hump charges at Beheeyem with STOMP, ready to get it on the ground.

Hideo heard the attacker's voice - and was struck with an uneasy sense of deja-vu. That voice was extremely familiar to him, but he couldn't put a finger on who it belonged to. He knew it belonged to a Rocket - even without the blatant context clues - yet he felt a small sense of reluctance, like he was battling a friend.

The cries of the injured took him out of it, and the boy moved to try and help the injured get away from the fighting, the older escorts doing the heavy lifting.

Hideo returned his attention to the fight the moment his Beheeyem warned him of the Loudred's incoming attack, just in time for the Beheeyem to get Stomped like a goomba.

Thankfully, his Beheeyem was still standing afterwards, but risking his main Telepathic Pokemon left him uneasy.

The other Pokemon he had on him was a…work-in-progress, yet a situation like this called for some serious measures; losing could get a lot of people injured, even killed.

"Elga, get back!" Hideo shouted; he needed his Beheeyem to watch, to keep him aware of what happened next.

The Beheeyem retreated as Hideo took out a Pokeball, letting out a new Pokemon: a Type:Null. The helmeted Pokemon immediately locked eyes with the Beheeyem, before turning its gaze towards the Loudred.

"Nil, push that Loudred back! Don't let-"

The Type:Null charged ahead before he could finish the order, aiming to slam its Iron Head into the Loudred.

Neon manages to get on high ground, looking down on the situation at hand. His helmet, while reflecting a bright blue smile on the outside is working double time. Snippets of reports light up his comms, and Neon briefly switched the vision on his helmet to heat if only to count up how many targets he had to worry about before swapping back. [break][break]

He stares down above his Loudred, honing in on the small figure that would be his opponent. The grin falters for a moment. He's not sure why. Static tickles the back of his mind, like this is something he should know but it's just barely out of reach. [break][break]

And then that feeling of unease and hesitation are blown out of the water by the creature he sends out. "Oooh, you're not supposed to have one of those, kiddo." he said, smile broadening into a toothy grin. [break][break]

"I thought the League was against freaks of nature like that thing." he said, having seen something similar cooking up elsewhere.

Hideo's Beheeyem brought his attention to the person popping out from the high ground, from the direction he'd heard the voice. The description he got of what they wore was vaguely familiar, but that vagueness was stronger than the voice's; it could've simply been a description he'd heard among many of the descriptions he'd been given of possible Rockets spotted on the island.

That didn't make his unease any weaker.

Hideo's eyebrows furrowed as he faced towards the attacker. "Well I couldn't just let'em wander around on their own," he said. "I dunno where they came from, but someone's gotta train them. So that's why I got one."

It was the truth; he did have the instructions from his adventures in the Wilds, but he'd found them too horrible to use. This Type:Null really had just appeared in his camp one day. He was already aware of the risks one posed - he could still remember finding that pile of bodies in the woods that one day, but they'd managed to get that one under control.

He just didn't know one of his Pokemon did the deed without him knowing.

In the absence of orders, his Type:Null continued its assault. This time, three Tri-Attack spheres appeared around it, each a different color. Each orb fired a beam at the Loudred.

"Sounds like an excuse." Neon countered. "You could've just killed it, like other League members have been doing. Allegedly." he said, with the beginnings of a laugh at the gym leader. "Guess the League is getting desperate. Any power and they'll take it." As he says that, the Type Null rushes his Loudred with a nasty TRI ATTACK that has the normal type stumbling back. [break][break]

Wit ha cry, the flames catch on purple fur and he is singed. A BURN attaches itself to him and he cries out before angrily looking back at the Type Null. Rushing close despite his BURNS, Lincoln quickly unleashes another HYPER VOICE, using the cover of his screams to get ever closer to the strange pokemon.

The words stung - but Hideo could recognize their intent: to hurt. He didn't let them sink in.

He was starting to wonder why he was feeling some kind of bond to this guy; that was not the kind of stuff to say to a friend.

"Sounds like all you can think about is killing." he fired back. "Is that all you see in Pokemon? About how they can be a weapon?"

His Beheeyem informed him the Tri-Attack was a solid hit - even burning the Loudred. The retaliation needed no forewarning, Hideo covering his ears the moment it started making noise. He could feel the Hyper Voice from where he stood.

His Type:Null took the brunt of it, and was still raring to go. It would leave no mercy for the burnt Loudred, its claws glowing red as it aimed to meet the approaching Loudred with a set of Crush Claws.

"No. It's just the humane thing to do. You people can't control those things, and they're insane upon creation, right?" Those had been the more common reasons for the League hunting down any mention or make of these weird creatures. [break][break]

"But sure, I also don't want a weapon to misfire and kill me." he added with a sharp laugh and a shrug at the young teen. The Type Null pulls in close and Lincoln falls over. Squirming under the monstrosity he tries to BITE back, ready to yank off a poorly attached limb if he could find it. The creepy thing raised his hackles without effort. He didn't want to be anywhere near it.

"A rocket, trying to talk about being humane? You're just looking for an excuse to kill something. How many more Pokemon do you have to kill 'til you realize you don't have any humanity?"

While Hideo was getting heated, this argument did help serve another purpose; it helped keep this Rocket's attention off the injured Hideo had been escorting, the group already making their way out of the area. Hideo hadn't been the only escort.

The Loudred's Bite found one of the Type:Null's legs - but it'd also find that this wasn't a shoddily-made Pokemon. No dismemberment from that attack.

A low growl came from the Type:Null as it knelt down low, before leaping up high in the air. It'd come down fast a moment later, its Aerial Ace aimed straight for the Loudred - whether or not the Loudred was still biting its leg.

"Sure~" He said, tapping his helmet as he began to record the battle. Hideo Kino was no Elite 4, but having data on a Gym Leader with a Type: Null might come in handy later. "Vilify me all you want. That thing you're carrying is still a freak of nature. At least Spiritombs come together naturally." [break][break]

The process was unbelievably painful, and cruel. So much sacrifice for something so unrestrained. He'd yet to see someone able to really control Type: Null efficiently. It'd be easier to navigate a WORMHOLE. [break][break]

Unfortunately the Loudred isn't as fast as the abomination and barely lets go of the leg before taking an AERIAL ACE to the skull. Dark red splashes out coating both pokemon and Neon leans in, watching closely. "Lincoln-" before he can finish the order his partner is already screaming in pain, trying to blast out another HYPER VOICE. [break][break]

"Take it easy over there!" he called out. If he couldn't recover soon, it risked bleeding out from the thing. [break][break]

There really wasn't any reason to keep arguing, when the Rocket wouldn't even deny their villainy. All Hideo could do was keep the Rocket and their Pokemon away from the injured.

Though he was pretty sure the fight was coming to a close; that last attack from his Type:Null drew quite a bit of blood, according to his Beheeyem. Enough to coat itself and its opponent.

That scream of pain from the Loudred was enough for Hideo to consider this fight over. Hideo pulled out the Type:Null's Pokeball, ready to recall it back in…

His Type:Null already prepared an attack, three orbs around its body - but the Tri-Attack would be spread around this time.

One sphere was fired at the opposing trainer.

Another was aimed at the Pokeball Hideo took out; Hideo's Beheeyem pushed him out of the way, both ball and boy avoiding the attack, but still stopping him from recalling his Pokemon.

The last sphere was aimed straight down at the Loudred, in spite of the Hyper Voice it was trying to use.

He's lost sight of the Leaguer's evacuating with their wounds, scurrying away form the fight between Beast and Gym Leader. The Sylvally interests him as much as puts him on his guard. He's yet to see one that isn't crazed. [break][break]

Lincoln lets out a desperate sound, and even Neon is unable to resist helping the Loudred. With a swift flick of his wrist he sends out a second pokemon. A Spinarak that cheers as it escapes its luminous confines and sets to the task. [break][break]

"Charlie- put that thing d-!" he ordered. But the TRI ATTACK that comes is sudden, and Neon tumbles off the high ground he'd been using after letting out a screaming as electricity cycles through him and eventually releases when he grounds out on the earth. [break][break]

His Spinarak launches herself towards the Type: Null, spitting TOXIC THREADS at the creature and yanking herself forward to tag team it with Lincoln the Loudred. She's not fast enough as Lincoln lets out another pained roar, that cracks in a strange distorted sob. [break][break]

Neon for his part is left panting, the LED screen on the front of his helmet blinking rapidly as it slowly went back to normal functions. Neon for his part, felt hot, breathing hard as he tried to suppress the pain of being electrocuted and get back up. He hadn't been in this much pain since ULTRA DEEP SEA and the Nihilego attacks. [break][break]

"Kill it!" he instructed voice hoarse after a few attempts to speak before his yell rings out from behind his forced cover.
