Alba Evovae

A large battle had taken place on the eastern ocean of the island, where both forces converged into one large fight for a chance to get a vantage point from a different part of the island. Yuina was right in the middle of the fray, astride Crowley the Feraligatr and Daikenki the Samurott heading up most of their combat, and at this point she was soaked through and dripping wet as the battle on the ocean waged on. She called for Daikenki to Slash at an on coming Sharpedo that was hurtling towards them at the beck and call of its trainer, motioning for Crowley to get out of the way, and the Samurott struck the shark head on and sent it back into the water with a hefty splash.[break][break]
It was difficult to keep tabs on everything, there was so much going on and water flying in every direction, but as Yuina turned to glance at the island in the distance, she noticed a figure moving through the water, perhaps having slipped through the bulk of the battle.[break]
"Oh no you don't," Yuina remarked, motioning Crowley in that direction and Daikenki to follow. She was doing everything that she could in this war, and while it still wasn't much, if this was an opportunity to stop someone from making it to the beach, then she was going to take it. So she situated on the Feraligatr's back and they pushed on in the water at a speed to catch up with the figure in the near distance, gaining on them and ready for anything.

"Can't you swim any faster? I get that you're a perfect life-form and all, but it'd be nice if you could evolve a little extra speed."[break][break]

A filter feeder who lived on the bottom of the ocean, and a sea cucumber that liked to expel its internal organs. These were the sea-faring Pokémon in Alba Evovae's possession… neither of them particularly suited for a high-speed war across the waves. He had other Pokémon, at least, but it was Water-types that were most at home on this particular battlefield. And this was just one battle out of many… If he burned out too quickly, he'd be stuck on the sidelines while all the exciting stuff took place.[break][break]

…Arguably he was on the sidelines now, seeing as Pyukumuku wasn't much of an attacker, and Relicanth was a physical fighter, which did not sound fun to deal with while riding on its back. But that felt a little harsh to himself; a supporting role sounded a lot nicer. He'd just slip through the heavier hitters, poisoning and giving a helping hand… and make for the mainland when he could. That was the real prize, after all.[break][break]

Darting (slowly) across the battlefield, the sea cucumber in his hands turned to help an ally fire out a blast of water at some League Pokémon or another. But if there was anyone on his tail, he hadn't noticed yet.

Surprisingly, the figure Yuina had started after in the water wasn't moving too fast... But that didn't mean by any means that she was going to let her guard down. She motioned Daikenki under the water, the Samurott ducking down beneath the surface while Crowley still remained in pursuit, and soon enough Yuina had gained on them and was now running parallel to the figure in the water.[break]
"You're not going anywhere! Go back to the mainland, you're not making it to the island," Yuina called, motioning Crowley forward, and the Feraligatr lunged and rushed forward in the waves, effectively putting himself and Yuina between the island in the distance and their target.[break][break]
"You've got one chance," she said, and while she herself wasn't inherently threatening, Crowley beneath her huffed with bared fangs, getting it across that they meant business.

It would be hard to discern Alba's expression from underneath the mask he wore, but from the rest of his body language, he didn't seem particularly impressed by this random girl blocking his path. He was already bored with having shoes full of water, and now he had to wait even longer before he could actually start investigating?[break][break]

"Oh. Right. Of course. Well, if I've only got one chance, I guess I'll just have to abandon this mysterious island to idiots like you…" With a roll of his eyes, the grunt held up his Pyukumuku like a tiny aquatic gun, and let it spit out Toxic poison towards Yuina and Crowley.[break][break]

"Just get out of my way, got it? Go sink your teeth into one of our admins, or something." If she wanted criminals to apprehend, there were plenty of bigger fish in the sea.

What was with all of these rockets? It was like all of them had a complex about derogatory comments! Idiot wasn't necessarily a strong one, but Yuina sure didn't like being called an idiot by someone who was struggling to paddle along on some weird looking fish that could barely hold them...[break]
Crowley did well to move out of the way of the sludge that came towards them, Yuina remained situated on the croc as she looked out at him. He was just really rubbing her the wrong way.[break][break]
"You've got a lot of talk calling me an idiot when you're out here in the middle of the ocean barely able to keep your head above water...," she huffed, still between him and the island behind her.[break]
"Last chance. I'm not letting you on that island," she returned, she was likely being too kind and giving him more opportunity than she needed, she likely would have been afforded the same, but she still had Daikenki circling the depths beneath them. She could back it up if he didn't think her threat viable.

Hadn't he already run out of chances? If she was going to keep going back on her word like that, she might as well just let hin through, right? Man, this was such a pain…[break][break]

"Sure, sure, I'm the idiot if it'll make you happy…" He did objectively look like an idiot, to be fair, but at this point he had no interest in being fair. Alba had an island to get to; it didn't matter how many 'chances" this girl tried to give him, he wasn't going to suddenly change his mind and sail away.[break][break]

"Now move, already. Head Smash!"[break][break]

With its trainer's orders ringing in its ears (or… however this fish heard), Relicanth darted forward as Alba jumped into the sea proper, treading water as his Pokémon tried to slam into Yuina and Crowley.

Holding tight to the fins on Crowley's back, Yuina could have imagined that attacking was imminent, but... She was a little shocked. They threw themselves into the water so that their pokemon could rush forward, was that really the best and only way that that could go? Yuina motioned Crowley back, and with a flick of his tail beneath the surface, Daikenki took his signal and rushed to the surface of the water. The Samurott barked, taking the brunt force of the Head Smash, but he was still rearing for a fight since this was how things were going to go.[break][break]
"Daikenki, go," Yuina called, watching the Samurott reach for one of his shells, and started to slash in the water with Razor Shell at the large strange fish. She glanced though, how long did he intend to tread water like that? She should probably just bring him back to shore herself to take him into custody if Daikenki came through in this fight...

While its Rock Head protected it from the force of ramming into the opposing Samurott, Relicanth didn't have much opportunity to swim out of the way of the Razor Shell that cut through the water. With a jerk of its tail, it swam back to fill the stretch of open sea between its enemy and its trainer.[break][break]

Wait, she'd had two Pokémon this entire time? And neither of them were a tiny, weak-if-adorable sea cucumber? That hardly seemed fair.[break][break]

"A little underhanded of you, but oh well… I'll just have to keep pace!" Battles weren't just a game of numbers. There was an element of strategy involved; even an underdog could win if they leveraged the strengths they possessed.[break][break]

With that, Alba grabbed onto Relicanth, as it used Dive to plunge beneath the water's surface. Even if it was slow and injured, what better Pokémon was there at surviving the high pressures of the abyssal zone?[break][break]

…Alright, he wasn't going to dive that deep. The seabed probably didn't descend that far anyway. But any chance to throw off his roadblock was one he'd gleefully take.

Holding tight to Crowley as the battle begun, Yuina watched as Daikenki was able to get in a clean hit on the enemy Pokemon, but no sooner had they started the battle than did the guy and his Pokemon retreat down into the depths of the water... Great, losing visual was not good![break]
Yuina was getting ready, preparing herself to dive into the water with Crowley and Daikenki, but the rest of the battle that was taking place in the waters around them was encroaching, and catching up to them. Rocket forces were moving in still, in spite of the league's best efforts, and while Yuina couldn't know if it was a stray or targeted attack, Daikenki cried out as a Thunderbolt streaked across the water and struck him. His blue body lofted in the water, unconscious, and Yuina panicked. She couldn't stay out in the open if the battle was moving closer, and she definitely wasn't going to let that guy just get away either...[break][break]
Returning Daikenki quickly, Yuina held fast to Crowley as the two dove beneath the surface of the water, both in pursuit of her adversary that she'd lost visual of, and in hopes of getting out of the line of fire of the encroaching battle.

With the light of the sun just a rippling spotlight that stopped way over his head, it was hard for Alba to make out much of anything. He didn't need to, though. The only direction he needed to move was forward. If some predator of the deep was waiting to eat him alive, well… He wasn't in a great position to defend himself. That was why he was running away, after all. But Alba Evovae was someone who survived; his blind faith in his ability to reach the island unharmed was absolute.[break][break]

Onwards, onwards, onwards… It felt like he'd been down in the dark from the moment he was born. But the shore would be there, waiting for him, eventually. God, but he couldn't wait to reach…
