Not long after Raikiri had recovered from the long and bloody Second Battle of Dewford, Josh had received a call from looking to have a meetup either at Mauville Gym or in the surrounding area. He didn't remember the woman at first, though all it took was a reminder of the role she played in getting Aslan back up to snuff after suffering a devastating injury on the meteoroid's surface. Their reason for meeting was as non-serious as could be; Brynn wanted to experience what it was like being the Master of Faster. Josh was more than happy to entertain that request.

At the agreed-upon time, Josh's Pokémon were assembled not far east of Mauville City's east gate, the long trail composing Routes 118 and 123 being the absolute best place for the Gym Leader's fastest Pokémon to let loose. Assembled behind the Gym Leader were five of his very fastest Pokémon: Braver the Arcanine, Mastema the Togekiss, Tiamat the Dragonite, Alphamax the Garchomp, and Snacker the Sharpedo, who was flailing about just off the coast. Josh was seated atop a Pokémon faster than all five of them: Raikiri, a Zeraora who ran on all fours instead of upright.

Brynn would get her choice among them, and none of them would disappoint.
