The TYPE: NULL dipped its enormous, caged head toward its master. Recognition for the new name, but with no semblance of affection. [break][break]

Could the creature truly feel emotions anyway? Outside of rage and bloodlust, of course. [break][break]

How much of it was machine versus sentient flesh? BARNABY FINCH was still teasing out this distinction, though it proved difficult.[break][break]

Sometimes, he wondered if the thing was more cunning than it appeared.

There was just something about its eyes. A predatory glint not unlike the way his SHADOW STEELIX regarded him.[break][break]

The TYPE: NULL didn't display the same intrinsic affection shown by most Pokémon to their masters.[break][break]

In time, however, Lazare would learn to submit. Just as they all did.

As they traveled through the Safari Zone, the pair decided on a different route today — this time heading for the large lake at its center.[break][break]

Here many Pokémon gathered, making it a perfect spot to hone commands. Already, Barnaby was teaching the TYPE: NULL basic attack directives; instead of verbal direction, however, the admin used various strings of clicks and whistles.[break][break]

When a MUDKIP popped up along the bank, the admin whistled sharply, signaling Lazare to strike.

It was a muddled attempt. Too brazen, too little stealth. The MUDKIP was halfway back into the water before it'd been subdued. [break][break]

This time was... better. Not perfect, but not as poor of a display as before.[break][break]

With its mouth shackled by its mask, the TYPE: NULL relied on its insectoid claws to slap the FEEBAS out of the water. It flopped on the shore, terribly distressed, at Barnaby's feet. An absentminded flick of his wrist found the thing captured in a Safari Ball, but really the admin's attention was on his bionic creature.[break][break]

"Once more. They shouldn't see you coming."[break][break]

He gestured again, this time to a yellow tail sticking out from the brush.[break][break]

Again, he whistled.

The PIKACHU barely had time to react before its small body was being pinned down. It looked upon the TYPE: NULL with an expression of pure dread, its blood obviously running cold upon experiencing a sense of helplessness.[break][break]

Soon enough, the rodent was captured, to be used some other time. Or not at all. It might just rot within the Safari Ball for the rest of time.[break][break]

"There," An EEVEE stood at the other end of the clearing, nearest the widest brim of the pond. "Again."[break][break]

Lazare crouched low and followed its orders.[break][break]

Every exercise the creature was becoming better and better. BARNABY FINCH held out hope for its devastating potential.
