the hustle culture of slateport shows most prominently during rush hour. streams of blue collars blur together as they move past the two of them standing idly on the corner of the street.[break][break]

his conclusion arrives at the latter but it doesn't hurt to think that it's the former. despite all that has happened between them, he still thinks of her fondly, though there is a clear line that separates them now as councilwoman and elite four.[break][break]

though not the first rocket bunker he's infiltrated, it is the first that sends an awful chill down his spine for reasons unknown.[break][break]

they descend down stairs that start off wooden only to be replaced by crude metal the further they go. it's hard now to remain stealthy, their footsteps creaky anad heavy.[break][break]

eventually, they hit a narrow hallway that extends further into darkness. the small lightbulbs do little to illuminate their way.[break][break]

"i don't like this," he whispers back to her but advances all the same.[break][break]

his usual gung ho approach will not cut it this time, but this is a fact he has known even before entering the building. team rocket are stupid but not enough to leave their bunker unguarded. the cameras above prove exactly that.[break][break]

the door right beside him doesn't swing open—that would be too simple—instead, an ARBOK breaks through it, slamming him into the opposite door which breaks as easily.[break][break]

he falls into the room on the left, disoriented and dazed as he stumbles to his feet.[break][break]
