the thing with shigure is, despite their demeanor, they let their pokemon run them around the block. which is to say, when his pichu runs off into the forest, sprigatito in hot pursuit, it really does take a little effort from their trainer to hold in the sigh as they drag themselves after the duo. thankfully, shigure doesn't really fear much nowadays, even with the unpredictability of hoenn's natural populace. if anything, this was just another day in their life: chasing down his energetic pokemon one step at a time.[break][break]

"be careful," he calls simply, hands in their pockets as they continue onwards. suddenly, they glance off to the side, eyes narrowing slightly. was that... the sound of buzzing? they frown, deciding to pick up the pace. hari could easily take down a wild bug type, but in a forest, a battle would only stir the rest of its inhabitants. [break][break]

unless, miraculously, it was a trained bug pokemon, but what were the odds of that, right? [break][break]

The noise, were Shigure to keep following it, would lead him to a dense, uphill trail leading to a plateau on the east side of the woods, in the foothills of the nearby Rusturf mountain range. The more they pressed on, the louder the noise would become. It was clear that whatever bug-type that was making that racket was far from the ordinary.

Just prior to the end of the trail, where Shigure would get a good look at a vast plateau lightly covered in grass, with a small lake at its center, the noise would become less and less intense until it quieted completely. If he were to look in its direction, he would see an unusual sight: a Type: Null, a Flygon, and a Shiny Beedrill that appeared to be of an incredible size for its kind.

Wait, was that a human-shaped figure sitting on the Beedrill's wing?!

unlike their trainer who's always wary of their surroundings, the pichu and sprigatito pay no heed, even wandering towards the buzzing. the pichu even has the gall to peek over his shoulder to ensure shigure is following behind and oh. was that a laugh? shigure rolled his eyes but still complied. what greeted them, however, did cause a pause in the kantonian's movement, his rascal duo halting at the sight of a trio of pokemon clearly brought together by an outside force. [break][break]

shigure is quick to scan their surroundings though, first to find a possible trainer but they needn't look too far! they mumble a what the hell under their breath, before they breathe a sigh and raise their hands in surrender. [break][break]

"just passing by," he claims, however one can't miss the sheer fascination he has in watching how the stranger manages to stay glued to the beedrill's wing. his pokemon, however? well they're quick to cower behind him, and hopefully the sudden movement doesn't set any of the beasts off. [break][break]

Shigure's fascination did not go unnoticed by Queen Zing, the Beedrill giving him another show by fluttering her wings at a frequency just beneath the threshold of human hearing. Even at that relatively low speed, Shalin was still largely a blur, though some of her features were still vaguely visible. Perhaps he would even be able to see some of the girl's riding techniques in action as the wing she rode whirled in small but blindingly fast circles. It was so fast that she could neither see nor hear Lathiel charging her way. A different kind of shrill buzzing brought her to her senses, the girl's Flygon diving in front of her to guard Shalin against a hateful CRUSH CLAW.

When the extra showing was over, Shalin's green hair was a mess, having flown every which way from the wild ride. She looked toward Lathiel, then Shigure, obvious that she wanted to scold her Type: Null, then hello to him, but could not move her lips yet. It may have come as no surprise to Shigure that she was slow to speak; if the wings were that fast silent, how much faster and more disorienting were they when he heard that loud buzzing sound before getting a closer look?

shigure mouths a what the f— as the type:null surges forward to attack, the kantonian feeling his pokemon press themselves against his leg for protection in case the flygon's defense would turn into a full on fight. fortunately nothing of the sort happens, and the unnamed trainer even gives him a glance of acknowledgement once her feet finally come back to earth. he half-expected a scolding towards her pokemon, though with how she struggled to even part her lips, shigure gives his own nod of understanding. it'll probably come later then.[break][break]

her readjustment must be like trying to get rid of sea legs. except it's. wing mouth... uh. sure. anyway, he's been there. sort of. with the sea legs. and shigure is ever patient (though unfortunately just not the most social).[break][break]

instead, he glances at the forest denizens that have made themselves known. he observes how they settle for a moment, stretching wings and body before they truly become aware of their own surroundings. shigure sees how they tremble and. right. he should scoop up his little ones. [break][break]

"come here..." he mumbles, bending forward and almost stumbling at how his pichu and sprigatito scramble into his arms. can't blame them for their behavior. they've seen a lot of stuff in their time with him, but they're also only small fry that'd definitely be squished if any other of her pokemon wanted to go on a rampage. "alright, calm down..." he looks at the green haired girl and tilts his head quizzically. "... should i go before my pokemon get eaten or..." [break][break]

The Sygna Suit Shalin wore only protected her from the physical harm that came from the physics-defying feats it let her perform. Once she regained her senses enough to see and feel once more, she at last greeted Shigure. "Whew, that was faster than I remember!" Shalin exhaled, now clearly visible as she let the translucent wing lower her to the ground. A strong tingling sensation shot up her legs as her feet touched the ground. Had all the training they had done to make this crazy feat possible made the Shiny Beedrill's wings stronger, too?

"Queen Zing doesn't mean any harm," Shalin answered the unfamiliar guest, whom she thought had to be in disbelief from witnessing her supernatural, Infinity Energy-powered feat of sitting on the giant insect's wing. "I don't know how you stumbled into this place, but this is actually my back yard," she gestured toward the tall and sturdy hollowed-out tree nearby. "Name's Shalin, wildest Pokémon rider in Hoenn, and she's Lathiel," the Ranger introduced the Type: Null, who had at last calmed down.

"uh. i wasn't worried about... 'queen zing,' but thanks..." they stand there puzzled, head tilting as they look up and watch the clouds pass by. her. backyard...? shigure's pokemon sense his confusion and they follow his gaze as if they could peek into his mind and understand what's going on in there. feeling their shift in movement, he looks back down at the duo in his arms and bluntly says: "so now we're trespassing in people's homes because of you two." not the first time it has happened, but at least it shows shalin how they wound up here. they're not going to bother asking why she's living in the forest, and brushes it aside easily enough. people live where they want and where they feel comfortable. it is what it is. [break][break]

"shigure," they reply, glancing at the type:null (lathiel, is it?), though quickly averts his gaze. it's hard to scare shigure, but it's not difficult to have them be cautious. especially after lathiel attacked her trainer? yeah, no. "does she always... swing at you?" a pause. "and do you alwa—" a loud CAW! cuts them off, shigure blinking at the noise. his head raises back to the sky, blinking at the sight of a pidove flapping its tiny wings as quickly as possible, a fearow diving right after it. [break][break]

"ah..." oh, that pidove just looked so pitiful. their head hangs back, a sigh pushed through their nose. he looks at shalin, releasing his pokemon from their hold, pichu already prepared to zap at whatever his trainer points at. "... does lathiel wanna. hit something else?"[break][break]

It was the largest backyard in Hoenn, that was for sure. Shalin raised her hands when Shigure remarked that they were trespassing. "It's not like that! A lot of trainers, especially new ones, come here thinking they can catch my Pokémon. I bet it's a real surprise when they find out these Pokémon are owned!" There was a type of Poké Ball capable of catching owned Pokémon, called a Snag Ball, but they were highly illegal and went for small fortunes on the black market. Without the Pokémon's original Poké Ball, it was also foolhardy to use, given that the Pokémon's universal identification would need to be updated in the Pokémon storage system, as well. Without the original Poké Ball, the Pokémon would easily be flagged as stolen inside of a Snag Ball.

"Great to meet you, Shigure!" Shalin waved before noticing the two wild bird Pokémon fighting one another. With the large Fearow eying Lathiel as well as its prey, the Type: Null autonomously fired a TRI-ATTACK beam toward the larger avian Pokémon without so much as a word from Shalin.

the expression on shigure's face can only be classified as stunned expectance. the way lathiel fires without so much as a command has the kantonian and their pokemon just watching as the attack whizz through the air towards the fearow, their heads even tilting to follow the arc. unfortunately, the pidove is caught in the crossfire (but thankfully dodges most of it!), only to begin its plummet to the ground. [break][break]

despite their short stature and relatively exhausted demeanor, shigure is quick on their feet. arms are out to catch the pidove, pichu and sprigatito at his legs as he hurriedly limps to capture it. they noticeably relax when it lands in their arms (a soft oof let out in response to the impact), shoulders drooping and posture deflating. [break][break]

they look to the fearow, to lathiel, to shalin and pidove and purse their lips. "well..." taking pity on the poor singed pidove, shigure gently taps a pokeball against its little head. it lets out a little tired peep before it's sucked into the ball. "that's one bird taken care of, i guess?" they're back to looking at shalin and then gesture to fearow locked in combat with lathiel. [break][break]

"she's, uh. probs got that, right?"

As much as Shalin wanted to take credit for Lathiel's aggression, she couldn't; this was all the Type: Null's doing. Still casually sitting on the Beedrill's wing, a faint green glow surrounding her and her Flygon evidence of the Infinity Energy making the impossible possible, she watched the battle unfold. That bird's QUICK ATTACK was fast, but not overly so. One thing she was afraid to do was ride a Pokémon mid-Quick Attack. It had to feel strange to those around her; she could keep herself balanced on a bug wing fluttering too fast to see, yet the speed of a Quick Attack made her feel uneasy at best, with her passing out at worst.

With her CRUSH CLAW useless against a foe that could fly, Lathiel was reduced to using her TRI ATTACK only. Its blue beam struck the flying-type squarely between its eyes, encasing the foe in ice. The Beedrill raised her wings even further to let Shalin slide onto her saddle proper, Shigure getting a good look at how fast the giant insect fluttered before they zoomed off. An empty Poké Ball in hand, she hurled it toward the frozen bird.

Will catch Fearow!
