He knew what it was like to be failed by the world. He couldn't let that happen to Eris. Not anymore.[break][break]

"I might've already let you down tonight." One look at the disaster this day had been was enough to confirm that. "But . . . I wanna do the best I can for you, Eris. And you know more than anyone that my stubborn butt's not going anywhere."

"All that matters is that you're okay."[break][break]

He'd hunted down Suicune for as long as it took. He'd played the role of the grim grinning ghost for as long as it took. He'd shared a quiet night on the beach for as long as it took. He'd defended Chu-e Choi for as long as it took. Now, he'd hold Eris for as long as it took. So long as she finally feel safe and secure, time was no object. Not today.[break][break]

For once in her life, this day would be for her.[break][break]

A soft smile spread across Isaac's face. Tears stung at his eyes, but they were no longer ones of grief. Today had been a roller coaster of ups and downs, but if he was being honest, there was nowhere in the region he'd rather be. Somehow, despite everything, it seemed like it'd end up worth it. Maybe he was right. Maybe he always did find a way.[break][break]

It helped having a reason to keep fighting.[break][break]

"Thanks for being here, sis." Isaac's voice may have been quiet and soft, but this time it was unmistakable.
