Taking another drag from his cigarette, Zev inclined his head in acknowledgement of Bryan's musings. What the other man described aligned with everything Zev knew so far about Avatarship: namely that Legendary Pokémon didn't bother teaching their Avatars everything their powers entailed.[break][break]

Yet another difference that set him and Necrozma apart from the rest.[break][break]

Bryan's next question earned him a surprised sideways glance. Zev did not speak for a moment, buying time with another inhale of smoke as he tried to assess what was going through his colleague's mind.[break][break]

In truth, Bryan had never shown himself to have a lick of cunning. Perhaps he had no ulterior motive, just genuine curiosity.[break][break]

Zev exhaled a plume of smoke. "Since you're asking me directly, you'll get an honest answer," he said. "I think you're useful. Your strength and ability to come back from the dead make you a formidable soldier."[break][break]

He flicked ash from the tip of his cigarette.[break][break]

"But you don't tend to think ahead or plan. Your recklessness could fuck up an operation for all of us. And that could make you a liability."

"Fair enough, pretty accurate. If only you met me before Xerneas. You might've been singing a different tune." he comments as he continues to stare into the sky as the smell of cigarettes fills the air. [break][break]

He gives zev a pass for smoking here but he'd make sure that zev properly disposed of the cigarette to protect his perfect utopia. "I used to be a lot more methodical, I was a quickshot before. Used to use a bow n arrow, guns, I would almost never miss you could even ask jayden cross."

He laughs as Bryan remembers his old nickname. "Littleroot's Litten is what they called me. I'd keep to myself n not interact with others."

Zev raised an eyebrow at Bryan, not quite believing what he was hearing. He had not known Bryan before the man became The Lifebringer; it was hard to imagine such a brutish, close-combat fighter engaging the enemy from a distance.[break][break]

Then again, Zev had not used firearms in a while. When he could crush his enemies with a single thought, firearms seemed superfluous.[break][break]

"So your Avatarship changed you," he observed. "What stops you from going back to that style of fighting? From being more methodical?" [break][break]

He paused. [break][break]

"Or are you saying Avatarship changed you so much that you can't go back to being the person you were before?" [break][break]

The train of thought prompted Zev to wonder, too, what happened to Avatars when Legendary Pokémon rescinded that bond. He had a hunch that the process didn't stop at the removal of their powers.[break][break]

A familiar revulsion flooded him, one that reminded him of the sundering of the soul. He took another drag of his cigarette to fend off such existential horror.

"It feels like it was someone else who used to do that stuff, it's not...me. but it was?" he says rather confused on the whole thing. [break][break]

What exactly did stop him from doing methodical methods? "I don't think I'd be good enough at it..my brute strength and destruction far surpasses what I could do with tricks." a loud and annoy sigh breaks the flow of the peaceful conversation as he suddenly yells. [break][break]

"FUCK." he says in annoyance as he punches the floor as a realization dawns on him. "elijah gardner was right." as it was a realization that was almost a year too tardy.

Zev was silent for a long time after Bryan spoke, turning over the implications in his head. How strange it was for him to understand how the other man felt, at least in part, when otherwise they were very different people. [break][break]

But of course, Bryan's situation was nothing like his own. [break][break]

"It's the same with me," Zev said anyway, deciding that Bryan might appreciate the false sense of empathy created by sharing such information. "The person I was before my encounter with Necrozma was a different man." [break][break]

Instead of elaborating further, however, Zev put out the butt of the cigarette in the dirt and asked, "What was Elijah right about?" [break][break]

He didn't know who elijah gardner was, but that information was irrelevant to the conversation.

he scratches the back of his head. The visage of the green apothecary filled his mind and with it, a slight pain in his heart. However he stifles such feelings, such connections made someone weak. [break][break]

He was a man without weakness now with priam conrad removed, or so he told himself to cope with admitting it out loud. "I said I was a god. He said I was a... what the fuck was it. A bastardization of nature or natural law or some shit." [break][break]

he groans "I'm not a god, not a human. Probably just a bastard." he says as he reels with the realization of the thing he had become, unsure if he could really change his ways at this point. "I don't know. I'm not good at this shit. I'm overwhelmed thinking about myself." as he began to have a small crisis.

A bastardization of nature. Perhaps all Avatars were that, in the end. The DRK Triad certainly thought Avatars were abominations worthy of elimination. [break][break]

Walking over to another bag of fertilizer, he picked it up and signaled for his Ambipom to help him open it. [break][break]
