[attr="class","roythread"]Of all places, Roy found himself in the middle of an all-out war. This was the last thing he wanted. He wasn't a soldier, at least not in this way. First and foremost, he was a seeker of truth. He sought to bring life to all of the stories his grandmother passed onto him. For someone like that, there was no better place to be regardless of the ongoing war between rocket and ranger. The interdream mist presented some world-bending properties and Roy was only there to see how far those properties would bend.

With a loose posture, the trainer pulled himself through the tropical environment with his hands buried in his pockets. He appeared careless and aloof. Despite the risks, he displayed a nonchalant attitude. That is, until he entered the purple fog. With that, a sudden gust of fear swept over him and goosebumps immediately coated his only available flesh. Something wasn't right.

"Who's there?" He knew he wasn't alone.

Work on the island was never done, the rangers were set out in shifts to survey and gain any intel about the island itself and the layout while they could, before anything could happen. The island came up out of the ocean itself, it could very well go back down at any time, so there was a constant turn around of going out into the field, trying to get as far as they could before crossing enemy lines.[break][break]
Moving along the ragged landscape, Yuina patrolled with Daikenki, the Samurott kept his senses sharp as she mulled over a Pokeball that she held in her hands. They'd had another run in with one of those lava monsters, and somehow they were able to capture it... She wasn't sure what it was exactly, but she felt like something about it was familiar, like she'd seen one such a long time ago, or maybe it was in one of the books of Hisui she had been working over lately...[break][break]
Taking one more step, Daikenki hissed beside her, and Yuina could immediately feel her hair standing on end, it was that dream mist, there was a surge of it in the area. They would have to see if they could find what was going on, and make sure nothing would come of it while they were over here. Out in the near distance though, through the swirls of it, a voice came, calling out to see who was there. Yuina stopped in her tracks, taking up one of Daikenki's seamitars while the water type bore the other from his sheath. She kept her breath shallow, she didn't dare approach, not yet... If it was a rocket, she didn't want to make herself known...

[attr="class","roythread"]Like a living organism, the violet mist suddenly condensed into a single area. Bits of dust and cloud irradiated from the mass as it grew bigger and bigger in size. Unable to move, the trainer was left mystified by the growth of something so unworldly. The mass kept growing bigger and bigger in size until it abruptly dispersed into pieces of fog. As if it was spawned from nothing but the interdream mist, a giant pink monster stood before the trainer.

Before he had a chance to react, the paradox pokemon unleashed a bloodcurdling screech. He immediately reached for his ears and his right pocket responded by releasing his bipedal canine. Without order, the Lucario reacted aggressively. It summoned a ball of dragonic energy from its palms and unleashed it on the pink sphere in one single maneuver.

The Fairy-type was unaffected.

Everything was so still, and so quiet for just that quick moment, and then through the mist came an awful terrible shrieking that rattled the very ground Yuina stood on. She dropped her seamitar that she held, clutching her ears between her hands, it needed to stop![break][break]
Daikenki hissed, shaking his head and stumbling at the sheer volume of it, but he couldn't just sit there and wait for the shrieking to end. The water type clutched his sword in his clawed hand and rushed forward through the mists, finding the large pink screeching Pokemon. With his Razor Shell he rushed forward in a flash of blue energy, striking the monster at its side in an attempt to make the screaming stop so they could gain a hand in the attack.

[attr="class","roythread"]With one swipe of the shell, the samurott brought the ear-piercing scream to a sudden stop. This didn't mean the giant balloon was down for the count. For the most part, he pink blob's elastic exterior was unscathed. It just had a change of heart. As the closest pokemon to the paradoxical creature, the samurai would be the new designated target instead of the whole group.

"Again."

Once the screeching had stopped, Roy was able to pull himself together. With his hands relieved from their position on his ears, he commanded his Lucario to attack once again. Their new ally brought a stop to the scream, so they would play their role by continuing the assault. Maybe this would give the samurai a window to attack again.

Like before, the canine created an orb between her hands. This one was a different color from the one before. She released it all the same, but from another position around the tailed creature. The attack was effective this time, but barely. The sphere bounced off the creature's thick skin and flew off into the foliage before it dispersed completely.

For that brief moment, the screeching stopped, and now that Yuina had an open chance to focus, she needed to make sure Daikenki could do everything that he could in this moment to make sure nothing serious happened. She tapped the orb on her belt as the Samurott barked and hissed with his sword, taking up the energy of a Swords Dance before he was consumed in bright shimmering blue crystalline energy for his Water Tera.[break]
He rushed in again with a powerful Razor Shell to strike the giant amorphous blob, and while Yuina could see his shimmering blue energy in the near distance through the mists, another attack volleyed through the air after having bounced off of it. Yuina gasped and ducked, she didn't know that it was a rebound, she had to assume the worst. That it was aimed at her.[break][break]
Taking up another Pokeball, Yuina released the lava monster that she now harbored, and it rumbled with smoke streaming out of its jowls.[break]
"Don't come any closer. I'm a League Ranger, we won't hesitate to attack!"

From her belt, the ranger summoned an additional power to enhance the samurai's abilities. Roy couldn't make out the entire picture from the mist, but he knew he had help. It only took one more cut from the crystalline blade to finish off the tailed creature. The paradox pokemon revealed one last frown before it faded off into the pink-colored fog.

Only the trainer, the ranger and their pokemon were left. She had her Heatran drawn but Roy couldn't understand why. He didn't do anything. Maybe he wasn't supposed to be here, but he didn't expect a response like this.

"It wasn't me." His open palms shook side to side in an attempt to explain his innocence, but his words and their tone made him sound guilty. He had no explanation for the paradox pokemon and its sudden appearance.

For a brief moment, there was a break in the mist, and Daikenki stood down as the giant screeching ball disappeared for now. He drew back his seamitar while Yuina still held the other one clutched in her hands, standing beside the giant lava monster that huffed steam and smoke beside her. Now that things were cleared up for that quick moment, Yuina could make out the other figure in the near distance, the one that had called out to her. Or she had to assume at least. He bore no weapons, and feigned innocence that the attack that had volleyed at her wasn't his fault. He... Could very well be telling the truth, he was holding up his hands, making no sudden moves, but she had to be sure.[break][break]
"Who are you? I've already identified myself, what are you doing here," she questioned, if it wasn't necessary to attack, she didn't want to, but if he wouldn't answer her she had to assume that he was rocket... There wasn't another reason for anyone else to be on the island except for operatives in the war...

[attr="class","roythread"]Through an opening in the mist, the trainer was finally able to verify her credentials by her outfit. She was a ranger. There was no doubt about it. This was quite the predicament. He could explain more of his innocence and sound guilty or he could make a break for it and look even more guilty.

By bad fortune, his Lucario left him with little room to decide. From her previous position, the feral hound turned towards the ranger's pokemon and spawned another ball between her paws. Domesticating a shadow pokemon wasn't easy, but the trainer had no time to explain this to the ranger. Revealing a ball from his pocket, the trainer reclaimed the beast before it could finish its attack.

"I can explain."

He grinned, stuffing the pokeball back into his pocket. With his palms displayed again to convey his innocence, the trainer slowly walked backwards towards the vegetation behind him. He had chosen the former. In one swift and risky action, Roy turned his back to the ranger and took off into the leaves. He was trying to escape.
