Surveying the given area carefully as always, Yuina moved with Daikenki beside her, weilding one of the water type's seamitars as had become sort of second nature to her. She wondered, had she picked it up when they fought together in Hisui? It felt right, like they were paired that way and meant to work together...[break][break]
Another step on the rocky landscape, where the gravel shifted beneath her feet, Daikenki hissed as they stopped, and a voiced called out. Was everyone always so quick to make themselves known that way? Or was it just her, and she was still afraid at giving herself away to an adversary...?[break]
"A Ranger. Who are you," she called back. They already knew she was there, and if they approached she was donning her uniform, thinking she still had the chance to hide may as well be futile.

the comment is made idly as he steps out into the open. the INTERDREAM MIST always seems to part for him, perhaps providing the possibility that he might very well just be an illusion, a construct of the mist and nothing more.[break][break]

the moment he introduces himself, a piercing roar sounds behind him. he turns quickly, readying himself as pokeballs crack open.[break][break]

Elite Four? Yuina tried to think over the title for that quick moment, she was sure she'd heard it before, it had something to do with the gym leaders she was certain. She eased up, but only slightly, just because she wasn't immediately faced with an adversary didn't meant that the situation was safe. The mist was growing thicker and getting more volume every passing moment, which could only mean those monsters would be approaching.[break][break]
"Is this mist really anyone's element? I don't know anybody who likes going to seek it out," she returned, it seemed a bit loaded to say that she appeared to be out of her element when this dream mist was so disorienting and so treacherous, no one could possibly enjoy or thrive within its smog?[break]
And true to form, within the swirls, a roar rushed over the mist. There was a monster out there, just like she could have expected.

"you'd be surprised," is the last thing he says before their brief conversation is quickly interrupted by a GREAT TUSK that charges into the scene, trampling over the mist and them if they're not careful. thankfully, he is.[break][break]

"incoming!"[break][break]

his crawdaunt jumps to swing its CRABHAMMER into the GREAT TUSK, knocking it off track enough for matias' EARTH BENDING to turn the ground into difficult terrain. baltoy closes in to MUD SLAP it.[break][break]

the GREAT TUSK counters with RAPID SPIN that sends mud scattering.[break][break]

From the mists, a rampaging Pokemon rushed for them, shaking the very ground beneath their feet and throwing around enough weight that Yuina knew it could crush them at any moment. The two managed to duck out of the way, though Yuina huffed as she fell to the ground at its constant shaking and quaking, but Daikenki held his ground as Yuina tossed him his other seamitar.[break][break]
The Samurott rushed foward, just as the bright orange crustacean did, bearing his two seamitars, and as the Great Tusk stumbled at being struck with a hefty Crabhammer, Daikenki rushed in with a Razor Shell at the beast's feet to try and keep it off balance.

knowing what it's meant to do, as though its sole purpose of having been trained is to do this, baltoy floats forward, colliding into the GREAT TUSK only to SELF-DESTRUCT the moment it makes contact.[break][break]

the explosion that follows rocks the paradox pokemon, allowing the RAZOR SHELL along with crawdaunt's CRABHAMMER to connect.[break][break]

but as one paradox pokemon falls, another rises.[break][break]

a ROARING MOON comes through the mist, BREAKING SWIPE slamming into the crawdaunt.[break][break]

"tch. we need to find a way out of here."[break][break]

Through the explosion, Yuina shielded herself on the ground, covering her head to avoid the dust and debris that flew through the area at the impact of it. Daikenki slid along the ground, struggling to keep upright at the force, but as the dust settled the hulking Great Tusk was set aside as another monster came soaring at them through the mists.[break][break]
Scrambling to her feet, Yuina coughed as she caught sight of the enormous crescent shaped dragon that swept at them, swiping vigorously at the orange Pokemon that he had. Daikenki rushed in with his swords bared, making contact with a Fury Cutter to keep its swipes from striking the Crawdaunt.

FURY CUTTER only delays the inevitable, but it does enough to turn a fatal blow into one that simply knocks the crawdaunt out. the water-type falls to the ground, recalled as matias conjures an EARTH SPIKE to impale into the GREAT TUSK's belly.[break][break]

how unlike matias to run from a battle but he fears he has little choice in this if he wants to make sure this ranger makes it out alive with him.[break][break]
