Luxury is sin in times of strife. Yet still, he does not relish watching the cataclysm unfold. His Slow Dancer huffs, backing up across the bridge of bifrost ice he has created across the water.[break][break] “ Kyle, don’t you dare!” But it’s too late. They’re in the middle of their own miniature apocalypse. Fire, lightning, ice, everything you need to make it look like the world is ending. Tectonic blades pierce Kyogre, making it howl and fire off fresh origin pulses to free itself. The great god of the sea hikes up the surf around them to wash everyone away from him.[break][break] They’re so close. Between the chains and the other restraints, he can almost taste real victory. If they could bring Kyogre back in, the whole region would rest easier. Maybe they’d even force a vacation on him for a week or two.[break][break] Fantasies, too, are luxuries. What happens next is as anticlimactic as it is expected. Kyogre is thrown into a manic state, crying out over the storm. Twisting in the water, it plays a trick that many of them simply can’t: it dives.[break][break] Nor does it resurface.[break][break] Fighting Kyogre in its turf leaves it open to retreating like this. It’s read the odds, seen how bad they are, turned tail, and fled.[break][break] The sea starting to settle tells them that it’s over, for now.[break][break] Of course, there’s still the matter of the apocalypse.
