Ultra Megalopolis - Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

A RUINED CITY IN ULTRA SPACE. It is unclear whether this is a different universe's Ultra Megalopolis or smaller colony. Regardless, it is a dark city with intermittent sections of flickering, artificial light... Large, black prism-like skyscrapers loom above flat black streets. Much ruin has fallen here, but you get the sense that you're not alone...

Another day, another adventure in the damaged dimension. Hideo knew there wasn't much he could do to help repair what remained of the city (best he could do was decorate with some tinsel), but he was still looking around for Azelf - and these wilds were far from fully-explored.

Though where were they to look next?

"Think we should check out that building we went to before?" Hideo asked. "You know, the one where we found that Blaciphlon?" He was still struggling to pronounce "Blacephalon" properly - a lot of the Ultra Beasts had strange names.

"Might be able to find something on the upper floors."

It took Eva a moment to extract the report from her mental archives, but she got there, “Oh, you mean ALEXANDER STONE’s report?” she smiled at CIAN MAHER, pleasantly surprised he recalled the information as well, “I think that’s a great place to start!” it was an area riddled with danger, but by now they had a pretty good idea of what to expect. They could prepare appropriately.

The professor released her Politoed into the mix. She sported a rather proud smile, “Cane will keep their MIND BLOWN in check,” clapping her hands, her motioned off into the distance, “Shall we?” and with a determined pep to her step, Eva led the charge towards the tower with her Politoed waddled happily at her heels.

Seemed Hideo was the one behind on his reading. "Good to know we won't be going in completely blind," Hideo noted, a small grin on his face. "Been wondering what was up with that building. Seemed to be the most not-destroyed one around." According to his Beheeyem, anyway, but Hideo trusted his Beheeyem's information.

Following Eva Morales , Hideo made his way to the tower, Uxie sitting upon his shoulder - disguised as a Ralts, as usual. It was the first time in a while Uxie wanted to come along in these Wilds, so maybe there was something interesting to be found?

The way there wouldn't be that much of a challenge; the darkness was easier to navigate once they knew the way there. And there didn't seem to be as many of the crazed Megalopolans shambling around outside. The lack of flashing lights might've helped with that - perhaps the Blacephalon inside was asleep again, or left entirely.

Regardless, the elevator would be waiting for them inside, as functional as promised. "It'd be crazy if we found the source of whatever made the Ultra Beasts get huge inside here, wouldn't it?"

Only way to learn if that was just a joke would be to go up; hopefully it didn't just send them to the stars.

only one of them will be going in completely blind and it's not because of not having done prior reading (sorry, Hideo Kino!). the internal dialogue he has with himself makes him chuckle as they make their way to the tower.[break][break]

as they ascend in the functioning elevator, he can't help but voice out a realization that hits him a little too late.[break][break]

"shit. i should've printed out the reports to bring, that's on me, team."[break][break]

because then they'd have schematics on the whole building which would allow them to bypass certain areas and to avoid danger. since they don't, the elevator takes them up to the eighth floor where they are first met with a strange machine.[break][break]

Eva studied the elevator with a little hesitation. The fact that their approach and entry into the tower was too easy didn’t help with her skepticism. Something was going to go wrong.

They all crammed into the elevator with their pokemon and ascended. CIAN MAHER made a good point, she couldn’t believe she didn’t think to bring something like that too. It would be quite helpful. Surely they might be able to find an electronic copy on one of their devices? Eva poked at the RotomPhone in her pocket but quickly remembered they didn’t get service in Ultra Megalopolis.

“Woah…”

Her shock slipped out at the same time as Cian’s. Her eyes grew wide in astonishment. The professor in here was bursting with excitement and it showed in the bright smile that slowly crept across her face, Hideo would be able to hear it in her voice, “Incredible! It looks like a Shiny Machine,” but it wasn’t. She had studied the devices in preparation for Meteno, but this was . . . something else entirely.

Immediately, she began documenting her observations, bouncing around to the various components like a child without direction that was just far too excited by what was in front of them.

Hideo merely shrugged at CIAN MAHER 's exclamation. "It's fine," he said, "we'll learn more from finding it ourselves anyways. Maybe even stuff they'd missed. Imagine they missed stuff in all the darkness."

Sounded like Eva Morales was already like a kid in a candy shop, looking over all the tech that was lying around. Hideo couldn't resist a small giggle at the display, carefully taking a step out of the elevator and onto the floor. "Seems decently-kept for a place wrecked by Ultra Beasts," Hideo noted.

The lights might be flickering, but they were still on.

Curiosity got the better of Hideo as he took his own look around (on Uxie's behalf - the Pokemon was guiding him). His attention was drawn to one door. Carefully, he grabbed the knob, twisting it and gently opening it -

Only to be pulled forward as something on the other side slammed the door shut. Hideo hit the door cheek-first, before backing away. "Rude," Hideo muttered. "Think we're not the only ones up here…though I dunno if it's as bad as the Pokemon we found last time."

Something like that would've burst through the door and attacked them.

Despite her childish glee, Hideo Kino’s comment gives the professor pause. She cautiously glance around the rest of the room, gaze lingering on the dark corners a bit longer, “Yeah, a little too well-kept, don’t you think?”

Regardless, she prioritizes collecting the data, instructing her league-issues RotomPhone to scan the device and speculate schematics she could review later at the lab.

Eva jumped when the door slammed, immediately lunging to Hideo’s aid but quickly realizing he didn’t need it. Huh. She glanced between Hideo and the door, “Best to keep those locked then, I guess,” or just unopened. She’d hate to disturb something more violent that would interrupt their work at the moment. Collecting this data was crucial to their understanding of Ultra Megalopolis.

Cian busied himself with documents and Eva glanced over his shoulder as he thumbed through them. These were scenarios she was familiar with, but it was good to know the stories were replicated. She filed that information away for later.

“If they’re not Ultra Beasts then they must be . . .”

Eva was never able to finish her sentence. A sudden burst of blinding purple light exploded in a controlled fashion. A portal opened, the vacuum of space causing the documents CIAN MAHER was looking at to flutter and dart towards the darkness, “Uh-oh!” that wasn’t good.

“Hang on!” Eva grabbed onto the machine itself. It seems sturdy enough to not succumb to the vacuum, but it buckled under the pressure of the portal.

Hideo moved away from the door, giving his cheek time to recover. What CIAN MAHER said caught his attention. "So you think Necrozma might've been the main cause of all this destruction?" he asked. "Or at least them trying to study it caused all this to happen?"

It wasn't too far-fetched a guess; he'd been there when Necrozma had appeared at the Tree of Life. He knew just how destructive it could be. Destroying an entire city wasn't out of the question.

Before he could continue to ponder on it, a sudden burst exploded in the room - and started pulling them towards it. Hideo was quick to grab on to a nearby desk, one that seemed to be resisting the pull, while his "Ralts" clung to him.

Its eyes glowed bright blue as it channeled a Future Sight, quietly looking into the future to see what the consequence of falling in would be - and the moment it got the answer, a Mystical Power would envelop Hideo, shielding them from the pull of the wormhole.

It'd extend a Mystical Power around Cian and Eva Morales , if they risked falling in.

It was the longest few seconds of her life, but they managed to get through it without anyone falling victim to the void. The portal snapped shut just as quickly as it appeared. The only thing it left behind was a mess and three stunned trainers.

“What the heck was that?!” Eva wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. She flexed her throbbing knuckles when she released her death grip on the machine. It was unsettling that there was no warning. Who knows how many have been lost to the void on the other side of that interdimensional tear.

The wormhole didn't last much longer - and once it finally disappeared, the Mystical Power surrounding Hideo and CIAN MAHER disappeared. Hideo's descent was more graceful than Cian's the boy landing on his feet.

"S-sounds like everyone's accounted for," Hideo said, still gripping onto the desk. "How're they even gonna fix this city if black holes start popping up outta nowhere?"

This place really was in a bad situation. And he didn't know the first thing about what they could do to fix it.

"...this building really is cursed. Think we should get outta here before another of those things pop up."

Surely, they could find the answers they were looking for in another part of this city.
