Paxton's hands tighten into fists for a moment as Matias spoke of Kanto, quickly glossing over the threat of a surge of memories. He wouldn't get into it. But he understood. Matias understood. "How are you going to survive your own impulses?" he asked. [break][break]

"You probably know better than I do what the council said about you, and what they'd if and when you broke Dahlia's trust." And that mattered, sure. But think of the implications for the League is Matias was marked like that. A blow to morale. Belief in the League would falter.

He sort of puts two and two together and he doesn't. Partly, because he didn't fucking care who Penelope fucked, considering she had a nasty habit of sleeping with the people she worked with. Paxton stared Matias down watching his carefully, ready to move and adjust whatever he may need. Something's off with him. Maybe, something had been off for a while. Who knows if it was Groudon fully, or if something had been there deep seated and Groudon had just worsened it. [break][break]

He held back a sigh, fists clenching at his side. Paxton considered his words carefully, before taking a breath to speak. "You can grow to care about yourself, Matias." [break][break]

"Hoenn doesn't have to be a second Kanto. You don't need the chaos to push forward. You have people who will listen to you about this." Other avatars. Other scientists. People equipped to handle the psychological chaos that a god could inflict in gifting it's powers to a human. "I can't convince you to get better. But I'm willing to listen to you whether its about Groudon, PENELOPE LIVY whatever. I don't want to see you implode more than you already have." Not just for the League's sake. So much had been taken from them in Kanto. He couldn't watch another friend crumble into nothing in front of him. He's not even sure how he'd managed to stay put together.

paxton concordas tries their best but they aren't the first to try and help. matias has been offered many branches before but none have been strong enough to hold him.[break][break]

he has fought and survived and lived with expectations so heavy it would have crushed most along the way, but not matias. he is resilient, stubborn, and prideful. but even he has his limits; he had realized it a long time ago.[break][break]

Matias spoke and for a moment Paxton reassessed. Did he want him better because it wouldn't do League any good if Matias was suddenly absent? Or because they were friends. He thinks about the report. The building moments of information withheld from superiors for strange reasons. The pressure of ascending higher and higher and having it doubled from bearing the weight of one of Hoenn's legends. [break][break]

"What do you wish was different for you?" He tried to avoid promising something like alleviating the load. After all, he held rank, he was an E4 member. Maybe there was something else they could put on Greyson Connors or Melody Miro . It's hard to consider when he knew the contempt PENELOPE LIVY held for the man's actions. He agreed, but he would rather believe this could be fix instead of forsaking the man completely.
