This did bring back memories. Well, they had not quite been underwater back then, but they had investigated a strange cluster of something on the beach, at night. That was kind of similar to this place, too. Though this place was also very, very different from what one might consider ‘normal’. Then again, normal was not really their thing. They had met during a time-space distortion and tended to always meet up at the most obscure places.

Though this time, they had come here together. Which was good. Jo had been much too involved with her work for Megan’s tastes, making this a rarer occurrence. Which wasn’t something she liked at all. Only she could not quite put a finger on why. Or would not. One of the two, really.

For now, she was just happy to be here, in a way. In a way, she was not too fazed by the underwater sensation herself. Megan was always someone that rolled with punches like these. As long as she did not actively feel unwell, she could adapt to such things. Jojo, too, seemed to just fit this place in a way. Though on the other hand, she did not quite look it, either. “Are you quite alright, Jo?” Eventually, she just had to ask. The other was being rather quiet, after all.

“Hmm, I guess that makes sense,” she noted, though she was a bit disappointed. Or maybe that was the wrong word? She had promised to protect Jo though – or at least she did remember that she had, even if she could not tell when and where she had used the words precisely – so hearing that she had made bad experiences here did irk her on some level.

But that only spurned her on to try and do better, to make this visit a less troubling one. Hence, she reached out and put a hand on the other’s shoulder, with gentle firmness. “But don’t worry too much. I’m here with you this time. Not a lot of trouble that could knock us down, after all.” Us. As in, them together. She had resolved to prevent that from happening ever since that night on the mountain.

That was something that kept her going, after all. “Oh, look, seems like your anchory one has found something.”

Well, things improved at least. That was good. This was meant to be a bit of an adventure after all, not a dangerous mission that had to be accomplished. Megan followed along, taking in her surroundings probably a bit more consciously than the other, simply due to never having been here before. This was a strange place, after all.

One that saw her a bit apprehensive when the little Pokemon led them to some kind of hatchery. Jo naturally took the lead in that moment due to rushing towards the eggs right away while Megan was still trying to figure out what she was looking at there.
Well, eggs, obviously. But, well, what kinds of eggs? She could see tentacles breaking shells. That wasn’t exactly great, right? But then again, Jo seemed excited about it all, so Megan took a deep breath and accepted that it probably wasn’t bad at all. Jo knew better about these sorts of things, after all.

Still, she remained standing even as she leaned in a little. “Do you know what kind of species that is? I am not that well versed in water types. Well, more like under-water types, I guess.” Plus, she felt like she had to be extra wary while the other was distracted. As if it was on her to keep watch.

A poison and rock type, huh? That was an odd combination, in her eyes. Poison was not really her style in combat though, so maybe it was that. If nothing else, she liked the big, flashy and powerful moves. Support and such she would use, but poison really was not her style at all. Which could not be helped.

Still though, the mere notion of these things being poisonous put her a bit on edge. She was all about to stop Jo when it seemed like she wanted to touch those, but it seemed like the other woman managed to restrain herself. [break]
Well, it seemed like that. But at least she was going for protective gloves. “You sure have become quite the Pokemon expert by now,” Megan noted, both praising the other but being a bit….well, not annoyed. That would be putting it much too harshly. But she was a bit irked. Maybe it was because Jo seemingly forgot all about the world when she saw stuff like this, much like with the crystals back then.

But also because when they had met, Megan had been assured in being the Pokemon expert of the two. Once more, there was a nagging feeling of being left behind. A feeling as if something was grinding against stone or something.[break]
Wait, what? Convinced she had heard something real other than the clicking sound of eggshells, Meg whirled around. Only to turn straight back and spring into motion, tackling Jo away as the other crouched, just as a spray of something was about to come at them straight from above, hoping to get them both out of the way.

“Always.” That was simple and short, but the only response that came to mind. They had more important things to do than exchange pleasantries, after all. And it was the only thing that came to mind anyway. Hence, she just said that before figuring out a plan of action for herself. The Dhelmise was already trying to attack their would-be ambushers.

Well, not as much would-be ones. They might not have succeeded in poisoning them right away, but at the very least they were now between them and the exit to the hatchery. That implied that they had to defeat them. But on the other hand, they didn’t really? After all, they had come to their home of their own accord.

She could not help but be a bit understanding in that regard. But they were a danger to Johanna, so that was secondary regardless. Hence, she decided to send out her own Poison Type in Dragalge. “Water Pulse them. Let’s see if we can confuse a few of them,” she ordered, hoping for the best. “I don’t like running, but we kind of invaded their home here. I say clear a path and get out of here, that fine with you?”

After all, this was the one field she still considered herself the expert in, above Jo.

“Those are my specialty….sometimes,” she noted, half bragging because she felt like she needed a bit of a win of sorts. Plus, it was working out rather nicely. Claydoll managed to help with some of the Nihilego that had not been either pushed back by the water pulse or confused.

It would not be enough to win against a whole nest of these things. But it didn’t have to. Together, the Pokemon created an opening large enough for the trainers to simply run through. Dragalge itself would bring up the rear behind them. “They probably know where we are going, but they still have to find the exit. Smoke Screen to cover our exit,” she ordered, briefly leaving the dragon behind as it released thick smoke to stop would-be pursuers.[break][break]
Once that was done she recalled it from a distance, not wanting to either stop, nor leave it behind. For the time being, they were making some distance there. “If they are anything like….well, any other Pokemon, they will probably at least look around for us since we disturbed the nest. We should probably just go for now, right?” she asked, panting slightly from the sprint.
