Reports of Ultra Space portals spewing out more creatures from Granite Cave has led to the League to send their only agents in Dewford out to handle the situation. What Noel didn't expect, was that they would also send in support in the form of a powerful Pokemon in their arsenal. Having no idea of what to expect in terms of their appearance or strength, he simply heads his way to the entrance of the cave to meet Navy who would join him on this expedition.[break][break]

Arriving just on time, the only one to greet him there was the sheriff himself, with no sign of this mysterious Pokemon that would aid them. Noel gives a small nod to his partner before turning to face the cave.[break][break]

"So here we are once again huh Navy? Seems like this cave has nothing but problems inside every time I go in there. I was told we would be joined by a Pokemon to help us out. But where is it?"[break][break]

“That’s the job.” His voice is tinged with reservation. Acceptance. Resolve. They won’t solve the riddle of Granite Cave, nor expunge the rifts from the far reaches of the place. That task isn’t for them. All they can do is fight, hold on for one more day. Their victory condition simply states they keep it from becoming Dewford’s problem. So long as it’s just them, everything is fine.[break][break]
“We fight the Nihilego back. We fight the dead things from the sea. Lucky for us, we’ve got backup. Not just Vortigern’s girls, either.” From around the corner, a pink crystalline figure pokes its head out, looking at them. Diancie reminds Navy of Elise Calcifet. Both have the regal bearings of princesses. Both want to do their part. Navy was very clear when he asked dahlia goode for clearance to bring Diancie out: she could only come if she wanted to.[break][break]
Luckily for him, the amethyst princess seemed eager to help out. It provides twofold benefits: education for Noel, help for Dewford. Navy is no fool. He has seen his friends, loved ones, and co-workers battle and be blessed by legendaries. Noel has to get used to their presence. They’re a steady fixture of Hoenn’s battlefields.[break][break]
“This here’s Diancie. Princess, you’ll be working with my deputy here today. I hope you two can get along.” He favors the legendary gemstone with a smile, eyes flitting to a nearby Nihilego. Hattori appears from the shadows, launching out water shuriken to beat back Eternatus’s angel.

Noel didn't know whether to admire or dismiss the legendary completely. While he had no doubt that this pink creature was powerful, he had met many allies and foes he would consider powerful all on their own. Whether the help of this Pokemon was necessary or not, he would find out in this mission. He would still be his same self, the presence of a legendary being wouldn't cause his demeanor to change whatsoever. He hoped to get along with the princess-like Pokemon, Noel was always a friend to all first.[break][break]

"It's nice to meet you Diancie, let's make quick work of whatever is in this cave... Is it... able to talk?" Noel asks Navy, unsure of just what it was capable of doing. For all he knew, it could do anything and everything.[break][break]

The floating diamond chuckles at Noel's naivety. This brief light moment is cut short by the sound of fighting coming from inside the cave. The Nihilego had come out and in full force, Hattori was quick to deal with one nearby. Soon, more and more start to appear, all summoning up an array of rocks to pelt at the intruders. Power Gems are hurled towards the cave explorers, while Navy's Greninja is able to deflect some away with quick work of its shurikens, some are able to sneak on by.[break][break]

Sensing that time was of the essence, Noel sends out his Braixen out in front of them which promptly sets up a Light Screen to block the brunt of the hard stone. While able to block the attack, the shield is clearly cracked and would fall if it were to take another barrage like that.[break][break]

"Is everyone all right? Looks like they've finally showed up. Let's clear them out of the way Navy and Diancie."

“Good thinking, Noel!” He shouts when the power gems slam into the light screen. Some get through, but enough don’t. That makes all the difference. Hattori slams into the gems with a brick break, shattering them against the ground before they can do real damage. His posture undergoes a subtle shift. Protean makes the Greninja surge with fighting spirit.[break][break]
“Don’t know if she can talk. Most legendaries I’ve met don’t talk much, even if they can.” Somehow, this question never occurred to him when he was in Galar. Cobalion, who has ever watched over Melody Miro, has never said a word to him. Navy chalks it up to the sword simply being too prissy for words.[break][break]
“Diancie, you mind listening to what Noel has to say? He’s a good trainer.” Whether or not Diancie answers, his response is the same. Hattori disappears beneath the light screen. He emerges behind the Nihilego. He engages in a pincer attack, slamming into one of Eternatus’s brood with a brick break, slamming it against the shield of light.[break][break]
Some turn to face him. Some remain facing Noel. Their attention is divided. Opportunity is provided, if Noel and his Pokemon have the eye to seize the initiative in the confusion.

Noel wasn't sure if he should be put in charge of the legendary creature. The responsibility seemed too great and important for someone of his caliber. However, if Navy trusted him with this task, then he couldn't let him down. He'd have to show that he was capable of commanding a Pokemon of such vast strength.[break][break]

Analyzing the battlefield ahead of him, Nihilego were all bunched up between himself and Hattori. While it would be easy to take care of the ones right in front of him, this would leave Navy's Greninja open to attack in an outnumbered situation. The best tactic in this opportunity was to go through them all in one fell swoop. He looks up to the floating Diancie, which in turns look back to him waiting for his order.[break][break]

"All right Diancie... Let's see what you can do. Attack in tandem with Braixen!"[break][break]

The fairy's eyes glow a bright pink. Then a rumbling sound could be heard could be heard all throughout the area as if an earthquake was pummeling the ground. A Rock Slide suddenly appears from overhead the alien creatures, pointed rock aiming to pierce through their jellied heads. But this wouldn't be enough. Noel's Braixen bring forth a raging tornado in the form of a Burning Jealousy that spiraled out of control in the middle of all the Nihilego. The mix of rock and fire created chaos among their enemies. Most succumbed to either the pelting of enflamed rock or the burning from the inferno itself. Yet some still remained.[break][break]

"All right Navy now's your chance. Take them out!"

The smell hits him first, mingled fire and brimstone. It’s a good strategy, but it turns granite cave into a young man’s idea of hell. Flame scorches the alien invaders. Their neurotoxins combust, spraying on the solid granite walls of the cave. They scorch the cave, but do no deeper harm. Each attack weakens them, leaving them exposed.[break][break]
“You’re a natural.” Navy whistles. “You two work good together.” For a guy who looks so tough, Noel’s heart is gentle. His propensity for cute, sweet Pokemon over brutes hasn’t been lost on Navy. Braixen seems too sweet a creature to be forced down into this sulfur pit.[break][break]
“Get in there, Hattori. Shuwen’ll back you up.”[break][break]
The one eyed frog nods. Navy’s wristwatch reacts accordingly. Hattori is shrouded in infinity energy. Once more, his body undergoes a rapid change. A pang of guilt sweeps over Navy, remembering the arguments he has made about Pokemon using such forms.[break][break]
Hattori knows the score, and what this might cost him. A shinobi is one who serves so others may see tomorrow. Rushing like a phantom across the field, he lands at the feet of the Nihilego. What greets the creature is no special trick. Fighting spirit gathers along the edge of his paw. A brick brick of tremendous power sends it screaming into the inferno.[break][break]
“ORA!” Shuwen screams, his surging strikes accompanying Hattori’s attacks. The powerful blows strike the Nihilego, but more are coming.[break][break]
“They’re not done yet.” Navy’s smiling, despite himself.

An army of Nihilego continued to spew out from deeper within the cave, but these reinforcements had less numbers than the initial squadron. If they continued their assault, they could break through in no time. Sensing the oncoming jellyfish approaching, the Diancie would set up Stealth Rocks lying in wait above on the rock ceiling for when the time was right. Almost as soon as they were laid, the Nihilego trip the trap immediately, causing hard stone to fall upon them.[break][break]

"All right Braixen you're up!"[break][break]

With the go ahead from its trainer, the fox-like Pokemon waves its magical wand around to conjure up a Psybeam towards the group of Ultra Beasts. The mystical wave of energy is unleashed on the crowd, all of them being forced down onto the ground after taking extensive damage. With the end near in sight, the floating fairy continues the combo with a gigantic Moonblast that emitted a soft glow in their surroundings. The fairy move is thrown in the direction of the Nihilego, knocking them all aside form the sheer force as they now all were thrown to the ground defeated.[break][break]

"Well that was much easier than I expected. Turns out they're no match with all our powers combined."[break][break]

He gives off a slight smile towards Diancie which returns the gesture with a cheerful cry, he then nods his head towards Navy and begins to walk forward amidst the bodies of Nihilego.[break][break]

"Piece of cake. We'll be out of here in no time I be-"[break][break]

Suddenly his world is turned upside-down. A tentacle wraps around his ankle and pulls him upwards. From the shadows deeper in the cave, a larger Nihilego appears now having captured Noel. A wave of electricity flows from its body and shocks Noel. A pained yell echoes out into the cave. It then tosses him aside like trash and he smacks against the hard rock wall with a thud.[break][break]

"Ugh... That's... gotta be the one controlling them all..."[break][break]

Dirt covers his clothes as his body singes from the electrocution earlier. He was roughed up but not out just yet, slowly he rises back to his feet with a fire lit in his eyes. This was the final obstacle in their path.

“Noel!” Navy’s shout spurs Hattori to action. The shinobi appears at the trainer’s side in a flash, helping to soften his fall. It wouldn’t stop the pain of impact, not entirely, but Hattori could dampen the blow for his Lord’s friend. Afterwards, they stand as a united front, a few motes of light against the darkness.[break][break]
Hattori surges with infinity energy. At his side, Shuwen gathers energy as well. A shinobi and a brawler march side by side, hoping that a princess and a mage will have their backs.[break][break]
“Keep yourself steady, kid. We’ll get you seen about when we get topside. Wouldn’t want the princess worrying about you, now would we?” He spares a grin at Diancie, who does seem concerned for her new friend’s well-being.[break][break]
The time for worry has passed. Massive shuriken form in Hattori’s hands. The water shuriken seem more like fuma shuriken than the smaller article. The massive water windmills smash into the mother brain, three strikes in rapid succession. One, two, three, back into a wall.[break][break]
Shuwen is a single step behind the shuriken. A z-crystal kept under his headband vibrates. The Urshifu strikes once. And again. And again. And again.[break][break]
His surging strikes are a blur, beating the large Nihilego black and blue, up and down the cave, Shuwen leaving its backs exposed for both of Noel’s Pokemon to get their turn. If they were to take this monster down, all of them would have to work together.

With the help from Navy's Greninja, Noel is able to steadily get back to his feet although he stumbles at times. He lets out a soft groan as he eyes the vicious battle happening before him now. With a hand placed on the wall for support he turns to the Diancie who had a worried look shown across its face. He lets out a weak smile so as to not give it cause for concern[break][break]

"Don't worry... I'm down but not out. It'll take a lot more than that to take me out. All right... let's give it one final push!"[break][break]

His Braixen and the floating fairy nod to Noel. First up is the fire-type who unleashes a concentrated blast of fire through its wand. The Flamethrower burning away at the Nihilego which had no chance of dodging due to the assault it was being put under from both Hattori and Shuwen. The steady stream of flame melted away at the jelly exterior of the Ultra Beast, but it was not defeated just yet.[break][break]

Next up was the legendary Pokemon itself. Angered at the harm this foe had caused against Noel, it would begin to make the cave tremble through the use of its power. Soon, crystals that were jut out from the cave were plucked out from its walls. A multitude of shiny rock hovered around the giant Nihilego before they all suddenly close in. Every legend has its foundation. The diamond storm drops Navy’s jaw. They’re here in the middle of a sulfur hell, yet he can’t help but gawk. Diancie is beautiful, a living jewel. She reminds him of Elise Calcifet, if the Galarian princess were a Pokemon.[break][break]
“Holy smokes.” He manages to blurt out two words. Shuwen remains focused the entire time, making sure no stragglers sneak past them and get out of the key. For him, it’s just maintenance. His burned visage pays no special mind to Diancie, other than to offer her a curt nod. Hattori, on the other hand, is just as awed as his Lord.[break][break]
They’ve finished the fight for today. With Diancie’s help, they’ve once more secured the entrance. Nothing spills out of the rift. The mother brain directing the smaller Nihilego’s death sees the end of this invasion. Their great cave offensive ends in failure, scorched by flame, blasted by diamond dust.[break][break]
“Guess that about does it for today. Now…” His eyebrows raise, looking between Noel and Diancie. “…I’m supposed to take her right back, but rules are meant to be broken. How ‘bout we hop in my truck and get some ice cream first?” He looks at Shuwen, Hattori, and Braixen.[break][break]
“All of us.”
