Getting going in the tournament ranks, Yuina figured this was also as good a chance as any to continue to meet people who were involved in things like the gym matches that were all over the region. Surely a lot of the same people who were in the circuit would be interested in a battle tournament like this? She was already seeing some familiar faces, and sure enough as she came out onto the field with Daikenki, she saw another familiar face, that she still had yet to properly introduce herself to.[break][break]
Across the way was the young trainer from the swamps, the one with the Luxray, Yuina saw her at the holiday party as well with Doug and the other younger trainer that was around. Now was a good chance to actually meet her.[break]
"Hey! We've seen each other a bunch now, my name is Yuina, it's good to officially meet you," Yuina smiled, ready for a good friendly match!

[attr="class","inner-finally"]When called out to, it takes Eris a few moments to figure out that it's her attention that's wanted. And she's skittery as she turns to look, taking a step behind Reiner as he tilts his head to face the stranger.[break][break]

Or well, an acquaintance of sorts.[break][break]

That's her opponent? The one that John Sullivan abandoned them to go look for? Chewing on her bottom lip, Eris briefly looks the woman from head to toe. In all honesty, she doesn't seem too bad of a person. And she was rather kind too during their unfortunate adventures into the swamp.[break][break]

"I-" Her voice cracks, her cheeks growing red as she coughs to clear her throat. "I'm Eris. And this here is..."[break][break]

Instead of pointing to the Luxray, she directs her gaze to the ground, looking around for a moment before finally bending down. And she'll pick something up, hoisting it over the barrier and placing it back onto the ground. Blue, wriggly and wearing the dopiest smile, the Wooper waddles to the centre of his field and sings a goofy greeting to the Samurott.[break][break]

She seemed... perturbed to say the least, as Yuina had turned to introduce herself officially and finally after seeing the young trainer in various places. Had Yuina done something wrong at one point? In any case, she nodded and smiled as Eris gave her name back, revealing the small excitable Pokemon that would be their opponent.[break][break]
"Eris, I'm glad we can officially get to know each other today, I think we'll have a great match," Yuina offered before taking her side of the field. It was time to begin.[break]
Tapping the orb at her belt, Daikenki took on his Water Tera energy as the Samurott rushed forward in shimmering blue crystal, and moved to close the gap and start things off by striking with a Razor Shell.

There was nothing else said as the battle began, and Yuina had to wonder if she'd done something wrong to upset the young trainer? In any case, as Daikenki rushed forward with his blades to begin, the Samurott barked at being snatched up by the plants that sprung up from the ground.[break]
In an attempt to swipe himself free, Daikenki began to swipe at the vines and offending sprouts with an Aerial Ace, working on culling himself free to try and get at the small Wooper.

A whistle, a click, Pips readies himself and scoops a ball of dirt with his tail. Doused with a heaping dose of water, the Mud Shot is slung right for Daikenki's eyes.[break][break]

Whilst the Samurott is busy fighting off the overgrowth, they could probably sit back and take some free shots. But this is just a tournament, not a war. Pips pauses for a moment, waggling his tail once more to an imaginary tune.[break][break]

Slashing through the onslaught of plants and vines, flourishing with his blades in an attempt to gain his poise with Swords Dance, Daikenki worked furiously to free himself from the confines of the assaulting grass type attack. He managed to touch ground finally, and was ready to square himself with the small opponent when it hurled a ball of mud at him.[break]
The Samurott barked, raising his blades, striking through the sludge with a Razor Shell and worked to move forward and lunge for the small Pokemon again in a follow through, his blades splashing with water.[break][break]
"... You're right Eris, we're trying," Yuina returned, maintaining the light sportsmanship of the tournament's tone but... What was this kid's deal?

The small size of the opponent was perhaps proving difficult, the little blue Pokemon wasn't an easy target. The mud flung around the battlefield and Yuina narrowly missed getting a splat of it all over her as the Wooper tumbled around on the ground, working to position himself under Daikenki.[break]
The Samurott huffed, leaping into the air, and with the proximity came down with his blades again to meet the Aqua Tail and the power of the strike with a Sacred Sword in an attempt to stave off the attack.

After all, she's more than proven herself capable of dealing with whatever strange dimensional shenanigans this region has to throw at her. And there's bonus points for being as close to John Sullivan as she is.[break][break]

With his attack parried by the Sacred Sword, Pips can only afford to tumble away before the whole weight of the Samurott comes crashing down upon him. Adrenaline muffles the whistle Eris makes, the Wooper puffing his cheeks as he readies a Power-Up Punch.[break][break]

Yuina couldn't help but feel like Eris was studying her? Or gauging her for some reason? The way she just stared from across the battlefield, like she was deep in thought... Had she done something wrong? She hardly knew her... She didn't want to make any enemies, especially if she could expect to see Eris again. They'd already crossed paths a lot, it wasn't out of the question they could be in the same fight again like in the swamps.[break]
"You and your partner work really well together Eris, this is a great matchup," Yuina called across the way, easing into the sportsmanship of the match. This was all supposed to be for fun.[break][break]
Having met the Wooper's aqua tail and matched the strike, the little mud skipper rolled away again in an attempt to separate itself from the melee range. It was readying another attack, and Daikenki moved to meet blows again as he lunged with his blades, looking to strike with Sacred Sword.

Concerned as she is for him, she can feel his sheer will pushing him to take that next heavy breath. Just a few seconds before, she'd been considering if losing would be that big a hit to her pride but at some point, she has to be reminded that Pips too has a fervent wish of his own.[break][break]

The vital equipment showed that each Pokemon was down to just their last points each as the small mud skipper rolled around from Daikenki's strikes. This last set of attacks would likely call it all... Daikenki was poised, ready to strike, lunging through the air to meet the Wooper, but it cried out with Eris' call and the ground erupted again in a fury of vines and plants that sprang right beneath Daikenki.[break]
The Samurott hissed and barked, but was caught up in the plants that entangled him, and the match was called. Eris and her Wooper had won with that last attack.[break][break]
"Hey, that was a really great match Eris, I'm glad that we officially got to meet today, it was fun," Yuina called then after the final tallies were given, this tournament was a great way for her to be able to put names to faces and vice versa, she was meeting so many people.
