She does a final check of her Valiant’s gear, making sure she’s not too scuffed up from the last fight. Rose shrugs it off, tilting her mechanical head to the side in a bashful tendency that didn’t quite fit with the ‘metal and future tech’ visage. It was a funny dichotomy.

She resisted the urge to swat the towering beast on the rear and instead stuffed one hand in her jacket pocket, raising the other in a wave to her opponent.

Things were in full swing as Yuina and Daikenki had finished a match just a bit ago, and were getting ready for their next one. The two walked together to head towards their next battle set as they came up on a woman, and one of those metal Pokemon... From the island...[break]
Yuina was expecting to see a lot of different Pokemon through the waves of the tournament, but she definitely wasn't expecting to see one of those... Things...[break][break]
"Hey, yeah we're ready," Yuina returned, eyeing the metallic paradox for a moment before turning back to her opponent.[break]
"I'm Yuina, I hope we can have a good match," she introduced all the same, it was all in good sport, they were here to have fun after all.

The battle started, and Yuina sent Daikenki forward, tapping the orb at her belt for him to take on the Electric Tera power that he had come to obtain. His smooth fur glimmered in yellow crystal as the Samurott rushed forward to meet his opponent, his seamitars bared. His shells met the blade of the mechanical Pokemon as he struck with Aerial Ace in retaliation as they clashed in the center of the field.[break][break]
"Thanks! His species is uh... From somewhere really far away, he's been my partner for a while," Yuina remarked, and far away still sounded apt? Just not the distance 'far away' that someone might figure.[break]
"You must be pretty experienced... Those Paradox Pokemon are really strong," Yuina wondered, surely they had a lot going for them if they were able to take on and train with one of those metal creatures...

The battlefield snapped and crackled with electric energy. She felt the hair at the nape of her neck rise. Luckily most of the rest of it was held down with a glorious amount of Trixie Mattel brand hairspray.

“Wow, another Tera. You go your whole life not seein ‘em and then it’s 62 in one day.”

It had been two. But it was still a lot compared to zero.

“Far away like a different region far away or Hoennian far away where he’s, like, from a different universe or some shit, like mine is? It’s important to clarify.”

The two Pokemon met in a blast of sparks. The Samurott had the edge, if just by a little, and Rose was forced back with a mechanical grunt. Recalculating, she danced away, nimble as a ballerina, calling down a harsh moonblast on the Samurott with a flick of her double-bladed weapon.

“Oh, you have no idea,” she said, sheepishly shifting some hair behind her ear. “I mean, about how strong they are. Not about me. I’m just some schmuck. But this one’s got a brain and is really easy. My other one? Sheesh.”

The thoughts of Sima 2.0 breathing electric blue machine hellfire across the stadium made her mentally wince.

Hmm? A different universe wasn't exactly apt either... But there were so many rifts breaking into the Hoenn region, the distinction was getting thinner and thinner... Though that wasn't a good thing either.[break][break]
"He's from a distortion rift, from centuries ago... His species is extinct otherwise," Yuina returned in the moment of pause between clashes, watching as the mechanical creature changed it stances. Daikenki needed to get back in to close range.[break]
"Kage," Yuina spoke in a short, foreign command, and the Samurott leaped and disappeared into the shadows, using Shadow Sneak to close the distance and narrowly miss the oncoming Moonblast...[break][break]
"A trainer is a reflection of their Pokemon just as much as the other way around... You shouldn't sell yourself short," Yuina returned all the same, genuine in her statement. She struggled with the same confidence, she could at least try and help someone else realize that they had more going for them than they thought.[break]
In that moment, Daikenki emerged from the shadows and struck with an electrically charged Tera Blast to get in on the fight again.

Once upon a time she might have been able to wrap her brain around what was going on with the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff. But that was at least three unsanctioned neurosurgeries ago.

“I appreciate the sentiment,” she said, running a hand over her braided hair, “especially ‘cause you’re kicking my ass.”

In that moment the Samurott burst from the shadows to strike at Rose’s back. She barely had enough time to pull up a dazzling gleam to try and blind and repel the onslaught.

It was a true enough statement, said so casually, and yet, it held the weight of everything that was supposed to be just another day in the region... Hoenn really was... Weird...[break][break]
"It's.... something else for sure. It's hard to wonder if it was never like this at some point," Yuina mused back, surely the region wasn't always wrought with destruction and chaos?[break][break]
While Daikenki lunged from the shadows and made his strike, the mechanical Pokemon tried to retaliate and made another strike with a bright array of brilliant light. Daikenki hissed at the glimmering rays, and rushed to dispel the beams with his Razor Shell, slashing through with his seamitars.

Bright pink fluid began to twirl down the shell as Rose jerked and snapped, eyes flashing and flaring for a moment before going dim as the Valiant fell to her knees.

She frowned and recalled the downed mech into its Pokeball.
