SUMMARY

gothic lolita thembo; careful to establish a recognisable brand "so people know who they can ask for help", but almost obsessively so. (a desire and need to stand out, be noticeable and identifiable by their own choosing versus "being their parents' child", one of many.) they also stand taller than average, with a slender, muscular build.

contrary to their appearance, their personality is rather plain; helpful and kind, good-willed to the extent of naivety. they want to see the good in people (out of easily-given trust; out of necessity, choosing kindness over an alternative). agreeable and dependable, they tend to make friends rather than enemies, and have something of a papa bear aura to them. extroverted, love socialising, approaching people; compassionate and patient. simple-minded and hands-on, they prefer practical work over theoretical, but can offer some surprising insight in the mundane, exercises in simplicity.

BACKSTORY

They come from a small farmer's village in Kalos, nearby Santalune City. Born as Boudewijn, assigned male, a middle child surrounded by many other siblings with varying talents and personalities.

Played every sport that their village could offer, and usually also managed to convince others to try out other sports with them; the village's too small to foster any real teams, but they had fun. Has become known as the "sporty pathfinder" (the Dijkstra kids are usually referred to as "pathfinders", courtesy of Dijkstra's shortest-paths algorithm even if they aren't related to its creator at all).

A family friend, a breeder, entrusted two eggs to Lutgarde when they were young. They diligently took care of the eggs, and were overjoyed when they hatched - an Eevee and a Togepi. The Eevee quickly developed a close bond with Lutgarde, evolving to Sylveon, while the Togepi was more distant, but still considered them as trainer.

Once graduated their village school at 16, decided to go to the Lumiose City to learn how to become a ranger there; got a whole culture shock and identity rebirth. Immediately favoured the Gothic Lolita aesthetics and wanted to embrace it - but that was easier said than done. Had supportive queer friends who helped them figuring out identity and going through their transitioning phase.

Their parents were quite accepting; Lutgarde eventually took a name that they suggested, and officially became Lutgardis (formally; Lutgarde casually). Their village also seems to take it in a stride, just like their general transformation.

However, as they announced that they would move to Hoenn, things weren't as easy. Even though Lutgarde has been working all around the Kalos region, leaving it and especially for a region as troubled as Hoenn was met with protests from their family as well as other villagers that regarded them dearly. They eventually stood their ground, and moved to Hoenn in January 2024, and settled in Lilycove City for the moment.

TRIVIA

URBAN As a ranger, their specialisation is especially amongst urban areas and wildlife. They feel more comfortable navigating cityscapes than wild nature, despite having grown up rural (they aren't entirely lost in either terrain). Their tasks include taking care of city parks, checking and maintaining rooftop (and other) nestings, checking in with pokémon in the sewers, mediating between citizens and pokémon, etc pp. They do have less frilly work clothes, but maintain elements of Gothic Lolita fashion in every outfit they wear.

MYTHICAL They quite enjoy stories and myths of fantastical folklore, and always make sure to be updated on every urban legends that may be whispered on the streets.

SYLV One of the two eggs Lutgarde hatched when they were young. Their Sylveon Sylv is dyed with black-red hues so that they could match in colour and style when walking around. Sylv will almost always have one of his ribbons wrapped around Lutgarde's hand, usually taking the lead. The duo has learned to quickly navigate crowds without having to let go. He has a stronger insight than Lutgarde, and he is quite protective of her.

SYLPH One of the two eggs Lutgarde hatched when they were young. Their Togekiss Sylph is a bit of a loner type, and happiest when nearby but not close. Sulks, however, when left completely ignored for too long, so Lutgarde always makes sure to have treats that they can throw to her (which she always catches impressively). Her red and blue markings are often painted and dyed, but there is no set colour combination for her.
