Lutgarde's taken aback by the straightforward introduction only for a second, before their expression becomes a mirror of the other's, laughing as they reply, "Hey there! I'm Lutgarde, and this is Sylv. And we're not looking to make it easy for you, so let's see what you got!" They give Cian a bit of a challenging smile, before they take a step back.

Their black-red dyed Sylveon's ribbon slowly detangles itself from their wrist, as Sylv also gets into battle position. He's more used to helping pokémon, so he gives the Froakie an encouraging hum.

"Let's get started!"

Lutgarde returns the grin as well, as the battle spirit ignites on the battlefield. Their opponent opens up with duplicating themself, and Sylv is quick on the take, too. "Use Quick Attack to figure out the right one, and then give it your all!" Lutgarde calls to Sylv, and they leap into action almost immediately - almost a bit before the actual command.

He runs quickly, trying to suss out the duplicates before actually hitting them, seeing if there's any emotion ...

off to a good start, they take the early lead against Lutgarde Dijkstra, taking away one of their three lives which causes his smirk to grow.[break][break]

feeling confident, froakie evades the QUICK ATTACK, and as their sylveon slams into a fake froakie, the real one is quick to LICK it.[break][break]

"Nice move," Lutgarde grins as Sylv shakes off the water, looking slightly irritated - but gladly, the dye is waterproof and doesn't come off. That'd be quite a mess ... "Watch out-" Lutgarde shouts, but the Froakie is already lunging in for a Lick. "Light Screen behind you! And then give it a Draining Kiss!" Sylv moves to follow, hopefully quick enough.

Sylv grits his teeth for just one moment, having taken two hits already - the end of the battle might be near, but neither he nor Lutgarde have given up just yet! He launches himself into a Quick Attack to try and dodge the Hydropump, before he'd take a sharp turn, fully tackling the Froakie with another Quick Attack, now aimed at his direction!

the order comes quickly but not quick enough to stop the QUICK ATTACK from slamming into froakie. only after, when froakie's knocked to the ground, does it manage to LICK in return, changing its typing too late.[break][break]

but it might be enough to end the battle against Lutgarde Dijkstra.[break][break]

Sylv sees a dash of slimy pink and makes a mad dash for it, empowering his movements using another Quick Attack - his dye might be proofed against many things, but they've never had to test a Froakie's saliva and he'd rather not start today! He does his best to escape the Lick, but actually doesn't back off entirely - which could end as badly as it could end well - and instead tries to give his opponent a Draining Kiss!

so it's down to the wire with them both at one life each, the battle hanging on a single decision. who would've thought? not cian, that's for sure, but perhaps Lutgarde Dijkstra had.[break][break]

Sylv looks slightly refreshed after the Draining Kiss, but healing doesn't work the way it usually does in this kind of fight - interesting, actually ... but there's no time to linger with that thought. Sylv and his opponent both look like they're on their last legs, and a look at the screen confirms that.

"Quick Attack!" Lutgarde returns to an old classic - couldn't just stand around and take a hit, but also need to be fast enough to make contact ... Sylv roars, sprints, eyes fixed on the water-
