Legends stated that THUNDURUS was once a subject of ZEKROM himself. Together they ruled over the skies of UNOVA for some time, bringing blight and ruin to kingdoms that failed to meet the latter's ideals. To see the BOLT STRIKE Pokémon in HOENN for the tournament had, needless to say, drawn the attention of the BLACK YIN and his patron.[break][break]

Standing atop the helicopter landing pad of a tall skyscraper, the pair watch as the storm clouds suffocate the last bits of blue sky above LILYCOVE CITY. ZEKROM glares into the black tempest above, seemingly capable of seeing what Remiel cannot with his naked eye. Somewhere in that ominous kingdom of wind, lightning, and rain, resided their visitor.[break][break]

When the rooftop door nearby creaks open, however, the Galarian turns around to greet a familiar face with a smile. "Andrea Vaneau — it's been some time, hasn't it? Come to see the show, I presume?" He inquires just before a bolt strikes another tower's lightning rod behind him.[break][break]

Andrea and her ace, Chomper, were on their way to their next tournament match, when the skies above Lilycove City darkened abruptly. "That's strange. Today's forecast didn't say anything about rain." The dragon-costumed girl mused, while her partner angrily hissed at the looming thunderclouds.

Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!

Without warning, the green-scaled Hydreigon made a beeline for one of the tallest skyscrapers in town, forcing his trainer to run after him. "Chomper, where are you going?! Wait up!"

A few minutes later, Andrea had made it to the rooftop, panting like crazy. "Hah... Hah... Warn me next time before you go off on your own..." She mumbled, while catching her breath. Chomper had landed on the rooftop as well, his reptilian gaze alternating between the much larger dragon present and whatever was hiding within the tempest.

It was then that the draconic trainer heard a familiar voice calling out to her. "Prince Calcifet? What are you and Zekrom doing here? What show?" The girl asked in clear confusion. "Chomper ran off because he sensed a powerful opponent, and I followed him all the way here." She explained.

Remiel smiles and withholds any objection to being referred to as a 'prince' in HOENN for now. "It's THUNDURUS," He answers, regarding the majestic yet haunting kingdom of black clouds in the sky above. "I think he's inviting us for a challenge."[break][break]

ZEKROM, who hadn't taken his eyes off the clouds above despite Andrea's entrance, huffs. From one alpha to another, this was a display of power and arrogance that the BLACK YIN could not simply ignore. Perhaps, in combat with a former ally, he might even remember some of his history.[break][break]

"Will you and HYDREIGON be joining us?" The royal asks of Andrea Vaneau before long. "Dragons are always up for a good rumble, right?"[break][break]

The young PokéManiac tilted her head curiously. "Thun-dur-us? Is he one of those buff-looking Pokémon with the mustaches?" She wasn't that familiar with Unova's weather trio, but if anyone was to blame for this thunderstorm, it'd probably be the dude with thunder literally in his name.

At the mention of a challenge, Chomper got insanely Worked Up, the shiny Hydreigon looking very excited at the prospect of facing off against another legendary.

"Well, there's your answer!" Andrea remarked, turning back towards the Galarian ambassador. "We'll fight with you and Zekrom... if Zekrom is okay with that, of course." The girl sheepishly added.

Remiel chuckles at her description of the BOLT STRIKE Pokémon but nods. "Yes, that's right. It won't be an easy challenge, that's for certain. But it seems your Hydreigon is ready for it."[break][break]

ZEKROM, on the other hand, seemed doubtful about bringing a second party in. He glances at the sheepish girl briefly with a judging look before turning away again. If his AVATAR wished to pull her into this so be it. But he wouldn't suffer a fool.[break][break]

"Don't mind him," Remiel assures Andrea as he steps forward to stand beside her and watch. "ZEKROM takes this kind of challenge a little too seriously. He hasn't seen what you or your dragons can do yet, but give him time."[break][break]

Meanwhile, up above, the dark clouds part to reveal their king: the THERIAN FORME THUNDURUS cloaked in electricity and brimming with DEFIANCE.[break][break]

"It's time."[break][break]

"Wow, look at the size of that mustache!" Exclaimed an awestruck Andrea at the reveal of Thundurus' true form--his Therian Forme to be exact. "Alright, Chomper, you know what to do!" This was their chance to prove that they were worthy of fighting by Zekrom's side. They could not afford to falter in the face of such a formidable foe.

The young woman's BRAVERY gave her partner the power necessary to Fly directly into the eye of the storm. Upon reaching the Bolt Strike Pokémon's domain, the three-headed dragon rushed recklessly towards the lightning deity, aiming brutal Crunches at its limbs. Good thing Dragon-types were resistant to electricity.

Andrea's SYGNA SUIT was quite a sight to behold. Remiel hadn't brought his own to the challenge today. Frankly, he hadn't expected to be battling a FORCE OF NATURE over LILYCOVE CITY today. Though he wondered how she might marvel at his own. Her enthusiasm was infectious.[break][break]

Despite ZEKROM's doubts, there was certainly a case to be made for the pair's BRAVERY. DEFIANT against the CRUNCHING of the Hydreigon's jaws, however, THUNDURUS retaliates with an UPROAR. It whacks down upon its assailant with its large claws but is suddenly whacked backward with a BREAKING SWIPE when ZEKROM crashes in.[break][break]

As the two titans regain their balance in the air, a sharp glare is exchanged between them both.[break][break]

"The two used to preside over UNOVA together," Remiel remarks, marveling up at the scene the same as Andrea. "It is said the storms they used to conjure acted as a shield around the region from foreign invaders for centuries. I wonder what drove them apart..."[break][break]

Like a dark omen, the black clouds above begin to swirl and intensify, blotting out the last of the sunlight as their ancient grudge resurfaces.[break][break]

Andrea did a double take in response to Remiel’s lore dump. “Wait, they used to be friends?! Why are they fighting then?” The dragon fanatic asked in sheer confusion.

Chomper, on the other hand, was not surprised by that revelation. Sometimes, the most genuine expression of friendship was to beat the everliving shit out of each other.

Shaking his three heads after the uproar, the Hydreigon smirked NAUGHTILY. So the enemy liked fighting dirty? So did he. The mischievous hydra aimed a Fire Fang at the blue-skinned deity. Its defiance could not shield it from a possible burn.

"That's a good question," Remiel answers with a nod, eyes glued to the conflict above as the THUNDURUS evades Chomper's FIRE FANG with great AGILITY. Following is a ferocious DISCHARGE of electricity when it reappears above both opponents. "Some blamed THUNDURUS for being too destructive. Others blamed ZEKROM for being too IDEALISTIC."[break][break]

And, speaking of the BLACK YIN, it seemed to have absorbed the attack and converted it into TERAVOLT energy as its luminous tail revved up. Blasting forward with this boost, ZEKROM clips the THUNDURUS with a STEEL WING. It recoils in the air, wildly swinging a HAMMER ARM that manages to strike the dragon upon the back.[break][break]

"Some say ZEKROM wished for a 'storm that could encompass the world,'" The archaeologist continues as lighting flashes above. "A storm that could uphold justice across every region with its BOLT STRIKES." His hues of cobalt-blue shift to gauge Andrea's reaction next. "In other words, a replacement for ARCEUS himself."[break][break]

"Idealistic? That doesn't sound like a bad thing." Neither was being destructive, as long as one used their destructiveness for good. Andrea was not quite sure which legendary to root for there. Perhaps both of them were right, and both of them were wrong.

Things were not as black and white as they seemed to be. The advice given to her by THEO BECKETT almost two years ago was more relevant than ever before.

"He wanted to replace Arceus, huh?" At the end of the day, they were two gods fighting over their overblown egos instead of trying to reach a compromise. One a purveyor of justice, the other a ruffian. Sound familiar?

Chomper reeled back from Thundurus' attack, ready to retaliate, only to be stopped by his own trainer. "Chomper, withdraw!" The girl ordered, frowning. "This fight is pointless and stupid... The only thing at stake here is their pride."

Remiel finds himself pleasantly surprised with Andrea's decision. In a world that urged you to pick one side over another, the young dragon maniac had abstained from something she had deemed pointlessly violent. Though he questioned her understanding of the current fight.[break][break]

"Is that what you think? That pride is the only reason they fight?" The royal remarks, turning back to the battle in the sky and gesturing towards ZEKROM with a nod. "Look and see."[break][break]

Despite being battered away, the BLACK YIN cracks his back into place before turning around with a... toothy grin? THUNDURUS, too, seemed to be enjoying himself. A jolly rumble of laughter lights up the sky after he turns to regard his old partner. However, this momentary interlude does not stop their respective tails from gathering the electrical energy necessary for their next attacks.[break][break]

With CHOMPER out of the way, they were about to go all out.[break][break]

At its core, this was still a battle, after all.

"Most legendary Pokémon have storied histories with one another that we can barely even imagine. Friendships. Rivalries. Even brotherhoods. But they do things differently than we would as humans." Remiel explains, crossing his arms in anticipation of the fireworks show. "Where you and I might grab a cup of coffee to catch up, these two test each other's resolve. ZEKROM, in particular, hopes to spark a memory of the long life he once lived."[break][break]

As someone who wished to become a Pokémon herself someday, Remiel wondered if Andrea Vaneau understood what he was trying to say.[break][break]

Andrea's Hydreigon landed back on the rooftop, snorting in discontent. "I know you wanted to battle him, Chomper, but I've made up my mind." The girl tried to console her grumpy dragon.

The Galarian blue blood proceeded to explain that pride was not the only reason those two gods were sparring. "It's not?" Andrea quizzically gazed up at the sky. The thick tempest hanging over LILYCOVE had only grown larger since the start of the battle. Its rolling black clouds were practically groaning as their immense pressure weighed down on the city. Inevitably, rain began to fall as powerful rumbles of thunder shook the earth.[break][break]

"Yeah... I think I can feel it!" Andrea didn't mind a bit of rain either, even if it meant that her prized Sygna Suit would get soaking wet. "Wait, is Thundurus a dragon too?" She looked back at the Galarian prince, puzzled.

Looking at the lightning deity's Therian Forme, she supposed it boasted some reptilian elements. Not all dragons had to be Dragon-type, after all.

"Next time, they should battle over an uninhabited area. Then they can really go all out!" The draconic cosplayer remarked, sheerly in awe of the two legendaries' contest of strength.

THUNDURUS' tail ferociously whips as it tries to overpower ZEKROM with its sheer strength. The BLACK YIN does not give in so easily, however. Its large tail roars with power, a beacon of bright plasma-powered light in the sky, as its muscles tighten. The aura of energy that has been surrounding both legendaries begins to coalesce into an energy field of greens and blues.[break][break]

"I've been studying the DRACONIC SPIRIT since the start of the new lunar year," Remiel states over the roar of the storm. "While THUNDURUS might have adopted this form after exposure to ZEKROM, the DRACONIC SPIRIT itself seems to imbue certain Pokémon with dragon-like characteristics. And, this year, it's off the charts."[break][break]

The crown prince had his battle with TAPU KOKO, courtesy of Michael Navidson some time ago, to thank for the start of these observations. And, though he was curious to observe more in THUNDURUS, ZEKROM revs his tail up again before they skyrocket upward into the clouds. The storm flashes... and Andrea Vaneau ends up getting a version of her wish granted.[break][break]

"They'll probably be up there for some time," Remiel remarks with a sigh, noting the rain as it intensifies. Turning to Andrea and realizing she was soaking wet herself, Remiel chuckles. "Let's head inside and dry up. I'll buy you something from the vending machine." He smiles.[break][break]

Once inside, Remiel summons MICTE, a CHANDELURE that emanates a warm heat for them with her FLAME BODY. The break room lounge they've entered is unoccupied. Whatever business was being run on this office floor, all of its employees were out. It was a Saturday, so they were all likely at the VCT TOURNAMENT, Remiel thought.[break][break]

He takes off his raincoat and hangs it on the edge of the breakroom door before pulling his wallet out. Though Andrea may notice an EGG strapped securely to his chest now, the royal makes no mention of it as he walks over to the line-up of vending machines awaiting them. Candy, chips, soda, coffee— it was a veritable buffet of choices for them to pick from.[break][break]
