Ultra Megalopolis - Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

A RUINED CITY IN ULTRA SPACE. It is unclear whether this is a different universe's Ultra Megalopolis or smaller colony. Regardless, it is a dark city with intermittent sections of flickering, artificial light... Large, black prism-like skyscrapers loom above flat black streets. Much ruin has fallen here, but you get the sense that you're not alone...

[attr="class","textbody"] "Find anything?" Ollie turned to his friend, showing a pamphlet that he had found hidden inside one of the desks. They were in the center of Megalopolis Tower, as far up as Ollie had ever been on his own, except this time with lam logan.

[break][break] He would have asked Yuina Higashi to come with him again, but she was tangled up with work, and besides — he expected today's investigation to be more dangerous than last time. And the last thing he wanted was for her to get in trouble on his behalf.

[break][break] They'd been sifting through the classroom for a while now and rather than come across anything concrete, all he could find was the same weird technology that he had seen last time — calculators with weird symbols on it, tablets that flickered with some password-locked mechanism, and pens that looked more like puzzle-boxes than they did actual pens.

[break][break] "Oh wait!" he said, seemingly finding something hidden beneath a stack of books. It was dusty, but when he blew at the scroll, it revealed a small drawing. "Oh hey... this is kind of cute."

[break][break] It was a depiction of a strange-looking pokemon that looked like a CETODDLE except entirely pitch-black, with weird markings on it. He handed it over.

This trip is proving to be far less hectic than his last visit here. Not that Lam really expects it to stay that way, but you know what? He'll take it while he can and be grateful that nothing has jumped out at him just yet.[break][break]
"Ohh I don't think so.." he looks up to see the leaflet Ollie holds out, but it's all sort of nonsense to him. "Maybe we should've brought a translator..." Granted, Lam doesn't exactly know any translator.[break][break]
"Does any of this stuff even work?" He holds up a weird sort of remote...thing. But even when he presses the buttons, nothing happens. It doesn't even light up.[break][break]
Bummer times.[break][break]
When Ollie pipes up again, Lam wanders over, perking up. "Aww, yeah...who knew these Megalopowhatsits could make such cute drawings." It does look sort of familiar though. His face scrunches up in through.[break][break]

[attr="class","textbody"] "Do you know of a translator?" he asked, blinking. Ollie didn't think he knew of one at least. Maybe paxton concordas or Gunner Graves did. They seemed like the kind of resourceful folk who might.

[break][break] "Hmm. Let me see."

[break][break] The Head Ranger reaches over to take the remote from lam logan's hands, pressing experimentally. Just as it had worked for the Lilycove Gym Leader... nothing happened. Ollie waited, staring out into the silence of the room, for something to happen. Anything. The crackle of a TV, the sliding of a secret room. None.

[break][break] "Huh. Maybe it's bugged." Or maybe they just needed some secret code to unlock it. "We should take this back anyway. Maybe Illie or Eva can figure it out." If there were anyone who could, it would certainly be the two League scientists. Surely. Right?

[break][break] After lam logan responds to the flyer and explains that it looks like some of the ultra beasts that had been documented, that's when the light bulb clicked.

[break][break] "Oh! Good point. I guess I haven't really taken a look at them." The only one that he had himself was Reeses... and man did that guy eat. "Hey, do you think -"

[break][break] But before he could utter another word, an ominous sound reverberated through the chamber. A sudden shiver crept up his spine, just as his eyes snapped back toward the windows. Glowing in the shadows were pairs of unsettling, beady red eyes. Could that be—

[break][break] "Lam. Tell me if I'm crazy." His voice was low, cautious, like he saw a prowling Pyroar. "... Do you see that?"

Lam’s face screws up in a show of exaggerated thought– “No… I don’t.” But there must be some within the League, right? Surely?? He’s definitely no good at it himself, though.[break][break]
Lam passes off the remote to let Ollie mess with it. Eyes eager as he watches the head ranger, as if he expects him to know some secret trick to unlocking the functionality of the thing. But just like with him, the remote does nothing.[break][break]
His shoulders sag, “Aww..” He’s quick to nod, though, and takes it back so that he can stick the device in his knapsack. “yeah, that’s a good idea. Wonder if there’s any more in here that’ll fit in my bag…”[break]break]
Trailing off, he moves to rummage in another cupboard. He glances back when Ollie speaks up again. “Yeah, I mean, it’d make sense if those things were like…babies too, right?” But then Ollie goes quiet and Lam frowns. “What is it?”[break][break]
Slowly, his hands come down from where they’d been stretched out. Going still as the sound reverberates through the mostly empty room. “Um…” he turns, eyes wide as he looks over to where the other indicates.[break][break]
“No, yeah, I see it. You see it? We should- we should go,” Lam babbles, inching slowly toward his friend. “It doesn’t look right.”[break][break]
And then the pyroar’s jaws unhinge to release a SHADOW BOLT of dark energy their way.
