Battle space became more and more of a premium as the evening went on, competitors trying to improve their ranking before the deadline passed and the matches tallied. Though Shalin and her Beedrill were growing tired, she felt she could handle another few flights to solidify her position.

While Shalin waited for her opponent to show up, she took a seat on her giant Shiny Beedrill's back. Without her earplugs on, she couldn't go flying around, but she would still impress whoever showed up to battle her in her current round. It was also a way to get the Infinity Energy flowing between them, warming them both up for the Mega Evolution she had been relying on all tournament.

So far the tournament’s been a blast. He’s met dozens of strong trainers so far, and he thinks he’s making his name well-known enough. No longer needing to fear keeping in the shadows. He’s roaring and ready to go to the next match. Speaking of, here’s the next challenger.

"Great to meet you, Toshiaki!" Shalin waved before sliding down from her Beedrill's back. "Captain Shalin Nariya of Rustboro. This should be a good one. Just because you have a type advantage doesn't mean this will be easy." Any further banter would be masked by both the starting horn and the oversized bug's noisy wings, perhaps worse for the dog's sensitive hearing.

Knowing just how fast Arcanine were, Queen Zing had to build up her speed before attempting to swoop in for a sting. Generating a TAILWIND with her powerful, nearly invisible wings, she rapidly circled the fire-type, looking for a window to swerve toward it and extend her FELL STINGER into the poor canine's rear!

His response is nothing more than a smile filled to the brim with excitement for what’s to come. [break][break]
Wind howls in the small battle space but Arcanine plants her feet firm onto the ground, snarling as electricity surges throughout her body from the TERA ORB’S effect.[break][break]
Which only gets out of control as she’s unexpectedly stabbed in the rear by FELL STINGER.[break][break]
The color drains from his face, almost fearful. “Uh oh…”[break][break]
As if awakening the devil, a flash of light nearly blinds him, but looking closer it’s Arcanine’s hell flames with sprinkles of electricity. Unfortunately, she might not listen to Toshiaki like this, stuck in a state of rage induced RAGING FURY which she unleashes onto the Beedrill, wanting to create much needed distance.[break][break]

Latching onto the Arcanine, Queen Zing churned her wings as fast as her standard form would allow, her entire body vibrating to not only make the fire-type as uncomfortable as possible, but to jiggle that rear stinger around and pump as much venom into her foe as she could. It would not take long before the foe's RAGING FURY dislodged her, her wings slowing substantially from overheating.

With how much effort it took for her to remain airborne, the Beedrill landed on the opposite side of the battle court. Though she was at her deadliest in melee, she was not completely helpless at range, pelting the big dog with a TWINEEDLE barrage. Its purpose was not to further poison the foe, but to keep it away and let the venom do its work.

The barrage of TWINEEDLE was painful to watch. Almost as if Arcanine had no reprieve for a counterattack while poison slowly enters her veins, slowing down the canine. From the sidelines Toshiaki looks nervous, but a quick double slap to his cheeks does well in grounding him. The flames from RAGING FURY didn’t work well for a shield, but it kept her rage intact. [break][break]
“Get closer and try to counter with Flamethrower!”[break][break]
No need to tell her twice. Glaring daggers, the Arcanine counteracts by blasting several rounds of FLAMETHROWER the pesky Beedrill’s way, hoping for one of them to hit to close the distance.[break][break]

Queen Zing's reaction time was fast, but not fast enough to completely avoid the FLAMETHROWER that sizzled her way. With her right wing about to be singed, Shalin had to save her Pokémon. Raising her hand to her MEGA CIRCLET, she focused the light of MEGA EVOLUTION upon the green Beedrill, the Pokémon growing a second pair of foreleg stings and mean-looking mandibles.

Taking advantage of the incredible speed her new form bestowed upon her, she zipped around and attempted to latch onto Toshiaki's Arcanine, whipping up a TAILWIND with her churning wings. Its purpose would not be to fly fast, but to rock the fire-type with vibration that would further weaken its muscles already made weary by venom.

There’s damage to the Beedrill but it’s not enough. He felt it now. The pressure’s on! But what a sight mega evolution is to behold. He never tires of seeing the magical phenomenon happen in other Pokemon. The winds from TAILWIND feel like razor blades against her fur, but Arcanine refuses to give up![break][break]
Despite her burning determination, there’s not much she can do except hurl another FLAMETHROWER the flying bug type’s way. [break][break]

With the vicious vibration rocking the Arcanine, the judges had seen enough, calling the match and waving the red flag in Toshiaki's direction. Shalin withdrew the battle-hungry Beedrill before she poked any more holes in the already-ailing fire-type.

"Good match, sorry for the suck-out," Shalin apologized. "I swear she's a sweetheart outside battle. See you around!" With that, the Captain headed back to the commons to relax. She didn't even need to patch up her Pokémon at all!
