Ettie 's next opponent would be a familiar face - Captain Shalin Nariya . When she recognized the opponent, she felt bad. "Hi, Ettie," she waved, her giant, green Beedrill likewise waving the flat of her left foreleg sting toward the wild child. "You... might want to cover your ears for this match." She knew of the girl's sensitivity to noise. For Shalin, the buzzing was loud but bearable, and only so after being used to sitting right between the wings while wearing earplugs. Even with ear protection, the vibration was loud.

"Best of luck to you, and I'm sorry in advance about the noise." Though normally not apologetic, she genuinely felt bad for Ettie. She felt the girl's hearing was as sensitive as a dog's. The grating vibration was already bad enough to human ears. For hers, it may have been unbearable without protection.

Oh - Shalin was her opponent. Ettie perked a little, recognizing the Ranger, and giving a smile and a wave - "Hello, Friend..!"

... But at the same time, knowing said Ranger's choice of pokemon, she understood that this fight was going to be a noisy one. Especially given Yip's tendencies. So, once she finished pulling out her Tera Orb to terastallize the Smeargle, she'd sit back and cover her ears.

Yip, meanwhile, would take note of Queen Zing - bouncing from foot to foot as she took on the Ghost typing. A flying pokemon would probably be troublesome to fight... But, she had plenty of tricks up her sleeve to try and deal with the Beedrill!

And eager to start out strong, she'd open with a Tera Blast - attempting to spray Queen Zing with a pressurized stream of off-grey-purple paint!

Shalin was relieved to see Ettie cover her ears; with how much the vibration had bothered her last time they met up, she didn't have to worry about deafening the young lass. As sweet as Queen Zing was outside battle, she was ruthless in combat. Yip was equally ruthless, not holding anything back as the Smeargle turned ethereal from TERASTALLIZING.

The otherworldly cloak over Yip would make raw velocity something the Beedrill could no longer rely on; her high speed charges, as difficult as they were to evade, were also telegraphed enough for a phantom aware of them to simply vanish from the material plane and let the charger pass right through. She needed to be cunning about it. Her foreleg stings oozing venom, she would courageously face the TERA BLAST head on, using the moment the Smeargle entered the material world to thrust and jab with her poison-laden stings! All it would take was one strike to leave Yip enfeebled with a venom that would burn from the inside out.

Though Queen Zing was fast, Yip was getting pretty used to fighting speedy opponents - particularly aiming at them! As a result, the charge would be met with a deluge of paint from Yip's Tera Blasts! The Smeargle, meanwhile, managed to bounce back ad away from the jabs - snickering softly from having given the royal Beedrill a makeover.

Though, when that approached seemed to start her off strong, Yip wondered - what was the harm in sticking with what worked? Twirling her tail a little, the Smeargle would once more aim it at Queen Zing for another Tera Blast..!

Yip's paint was heavy, weighing the Beedrill down and forcing her wings to work harder to maintain her speed. She would only have one chance to cleanse herself, and that would be through Mega Evolution. As much as she wanted to go all-out now, Shalin couldn't if she wanted a hope of winning. She winced, able to tell from how loud and unstable the bug's flight tones were that Queen Zing was having trouble remaining aloft.

Yip's paint clogged the wasp's foreleg stings, making it impossible for her to extend either of her Twineedles. She had a third stinger, though, and it was her most venomous one! In her weakened state, though, she could not raise it and maintain level flight, instead gliding toward the Smeragle with FELL STINGER headed toward the Terastallized foe's midsection!

Ow, ow, ow - being stung by a Combee was bad enough, Yip knew that much trying to yoink some honey for herself once upon a time. But being stung by a Beedrill? It hurt so much worse; which likely made sense, given that the usual Beedrill was like. Ten times the size of a Combee!

Yip stumbled back a little as Zing was able to land the Fell Stinger on her - and she whined a bit as she rubbed at the lump that was starting to form as a result of it. Again, ow.

Eager to give Zing a taste of her own medicine, Yip would Copycat the Fell Stinger - the paint at the tip of her tail forming into a point, that she would attempt to sting the Queen with!

Queen Zing was also no ordinary Beedrill; the saddle on her back was an indicator of her immense size. Her size didn't make her venom burn any more than that of a normal Beedrill; it only bestowed her with more physical strength. Yip's sting would find a gap in the queen's carapace. Even Beedrill were not immune to the effects of their own venom, carried in a sac with especially tough skin surrounding it. Her blue eyes blinked rapidly, slowing down and eventually landing.

Seeing she was in trouble, Shalin raised her hand to her MEGA CIRCLET's KEY STONE, prompting her ally to undergo MEGA EVOLUTION. With four foreleg stings instead of two, she loosed upon Yip a barrage of TWINEEDLES twice as dense as what was possible before assuming her apex form.

Though Yip attempted to duck and weave the best she could, she wasn't able to avoid being stung a few more times by the Twineedles - and she swayed on her feet. She had been caught off-guard by the sudden change in form, and the additions it offered.

As a last ditch effort though, she would attempt to take on this new shape as well - Transforming into Queen Zing by painting over herself!

And in this new form, Yip would put her new stingers to immediate use - attempting to strike at Queen Zing with a Drill Run..!

Shalin smirked. If the noise from not one, but two Mega Beedrill buzzing wasn't loud enough, then it certainly would be when their whirling stings clashed with one another! Sparks flew chaotically around the two DRILL RUNS, the true Beedrill focused more on defending herself rather than trying to strike back. She had her venom to fall back on, Shalin confident she could outlast Ettie and Yip.

The noise was so loud that even Shalin felt the need to put her earplugs in. If it was this bad for her, she couldn't imagine how awful it was for poor Ettie. Whether by the timer or by way of one of the combatant falling, it would be all over soon.

Were it any other time, perhaps the two would be matched in power, and Yip would be able to try and take Zing off guard. But here, Yip is becoming fatigued, whereas Zing still had some energy to spare. The Smeargle-turned-Beedrill is thrown back as the clash resolves, the paint that formed the transformation melting away to reveal a KO'd Smeargle.

Ettie let out a sigh of relief as the noise finally began to die down, her hands drifting down from her ears. She knew her pack could be loud during a communal howl, but Shalin's pokemon were something else.

Which, she'd step up to pat Yip on the head - "Did good." - before casting Shalin a smile. "Did good, too!"

Shalin felt bad for Ettie; she didn't win because Queen Zing was stronger than Yip; she won because Queen Zing was louder. If it were almost any other trainer in the field, Yip would have done well. It was just a nightmare matchup for the hearing-acute duo.

Taking her earplugs out, Shalin returned Ettie's smile with one of her own. "You too. Next time, I'll have to use a Pokémon that's not so loud." With that, she turned around to locate a recovery machine in order to get the wasp in top shape for their next opponent.
