There's a quaint farmstead on the outskirts of VERDANTURF TOWN where urban roads rub up against the boundaries of a verdant green forest. A humble CABBAGE FARMER and his partner ARBOLIVA stands there, awaiting the RANGER that had been appointed to help with his dilemma. The former lifts a hand in greeting as Remiel Calcifet and Diana Cavendish approach.[break][break]

"Howdy! Y'all here to help me with the DRAGON problem, right?" He asks with the fields of cold soil behind him. They weren't quite ready to seed yet, but he was preparing them for spring. Though, unfortunately, there appeared to be a few craters scattered throughout them.[break][break]

When he realizes they've noticed this, the farmer sighs and turns to look at them himself. "Yeah... they came yesterday around midday. FLYGON... never seen 'em come out this far from the desert. Have you?"[break][break]

[attr="class","diana"]It would be Diana's first time on a farm, and her energy was palpable as she stood by Remiel's side. Sure, she'd seen them on television and around the countryside, but never in person.

To say she was mildly disappointed by the way it looked now... it was a bit of an understatement.

But she couldn't help but feel for the farmer as he spoke of the FLYGON attacks. Her gaze trailed to her partner, raising her brow at him.

"I can't say that I've heard that before, but I don't know the migration patterns of the beasts of Hoenn yet. I take it that this isn't normal."

"This is certainly unusual," Remiel responds, crossing one arm across his chest and propping the other upon it as he rubs his chin. "They won't typically venture out from their habitat unless something has chased them out of it... perhaps they're looking for food?" He suggests, taking a brief scan of the farm once more before shaking his head.[break][break]

"Not much out here for them to eat, though..."

"We got a silo out thatta way, but they ain't so much as touched it. Just the usual RATATA." The farmer informs them, pointing out the tower on the other side of the property. "Anyways, I gotta go tend to the MILTANK. Y'all got it from here, right?"[break][break]

The royal nods. "Yes, sir. We'll let you know if we make any developments." And, with that, the two are left alone as the farmer and his Arboliva take their leave. Remiel sighs as he turns back to the partially destroyed crop land. "I suppose we should take a look around."[break][break]

[attr="class","diana"]Diana looked toward the direction of the silo, tapping her bottom lip with her finger. Surely grain wouldn't be of any interest to them, and as the farmer confirmed, they hadn't gone that way.

Though he had mentioned MILTANK.

"Do you think that they're interested in the MILTANK? Dragons tend to be carnivores, right?" Though, after taking another glance around, she shook her head.

"There's something in the ground they want. Surely it's not the stock."

Diana took a few steps away from Remiel, the CYCLIZAR trailing behind her. She observed the craters in the ground, scattered across the field. "Is there any valuable mines nearby? Maybe something is calling to them."

Remiel hums in thought for a moment. Nearby, his Golett digs around in the dirt with one of its hands. "The farmer didn't mention any lost cows. I'm sure the Flygon would have sensed them in the barn, too." Their senses were great, even when compared to other dragons.[break][break]

Turning to look at his golem when it makes a sound, however, Remiel finds it holding a dried-up old head of cabbage. "No mines on record. Just farmland for this sort of thing." The royal chuckles, stepping forward to take the cabbage from Atlas and weigh it in his hands.[break][break]

"But how odd. They wouldn't put themselves at risk for old cabbages..."[break][break]

What then?

With a sigh, he tosses that head back onto the soil from whence it came. "Perhaps the farmer did something to irritate them." He jested.[break][break]

[attr="class","diana"]It was no after no. It seemed that they were getting no where with this. Even with Remiel Calcifet's expertise in dragons, as well as her own knowledge in them, they couldn't come up with a solution as to why they would be so interested in the fields.

"Irritate them?" she echoed, looking at her CYCLIZAR.

"Honestly, retaliation would make sense. But the question is why are they irritated? It's always why." She looked down into one of the craters left behind.

"Maybe we should ask he's been near the desert recently."

Remiel nods for a moment as he turns towards the farmer in the distance. Then, eventually, the royal shakes his head. "No... even if he did do something, I doubt he wouldn't have admitted it already." He adds, pensively stroking his chin with a single hand.[break][break]

"We could try and find where these FLYGON are coming from, but then we would risk missing another attack. Instead, we should wait here until they come up again. Maybe have some brunch?" He suggests with a smile.[break][break]

He'd packed some sandwiches and sparkling water for the assignment, and the well nearby had a quaint little bench where they could sit while still keeping an eye on the plot of farmland. The fact that it resided under the shade of a large oak tree was rather romantic, too.[break][break]

[attr="class","diana"]Diana was taken aback when he suggested taking a moment to relax and have a brunch rather than go out and search for the FLYGON. She laughed, shaking her head at him before she offered her hand for him.

"If I didn't know you any better, I would think you set this entire thing up just for a sweet picnic," she teased.

Leading him toward the bench, Diana sat on the bench, rubbing her hands together as she looked up at the grand branches of the oak tree. There she spotted a small grouping of BURMY hanging down, green, cream, and pink colored. Higher up, a BUTTERFREE flapped its wings.

"It's nice here. So quiet..."

"Lunch is important, Diana. I can't focus on an empty stomach." Remiel assures her with a chuckle as he pats his tummy. She knew he always tried to come prepared for most things, right? Especially mealtime. It was a GALARIAN custom.[break][break]

As the two reach the bench, his Golett rushes after them when it realizes they've walked off without him. The little automaton had been too busy staring out at the trees to notice. Rather than group up with them as they sit, however, it decides to climb the well nearby and take a peek inside.[break][break]

Remiel, in the meantime, takes off and unzips his backpack. "Are you still a fan of caprese sandwiches?" The prince inquires, pulling out a neatly wrapped half of one before offering it to Diana. "Not much of a brunch item, I know, but it'll do the job." He assures her with a nod.[break][break]

[attr="class","diana"]It was so typical of him. But, Remiel Calcifet was right. It wasn't more than a few minutes that her own stomach began to grumble angrily. "I'm glad you came prepared. I think I would've been in a foul mood the rest of our outing without a lunch break."

Remy, the shiny CYCLIZAR zoomed behind the GOLETT, cooing from behind as he stood on his hind legs at the well. He watched as the automaton peered down the well, his claws scraping at the brick.

"Yes. I'm surprised you remember," Diana said, taking her half with a soft "thank you" to her counterpart. She hummed, lifting the bread to her lips before biting into it.

"Delicious, all the same."

Peaceful moments like these, eating good food beneath the shade of a tree, reminded him of their youth in HAMMERLOCKE. Peaceful moments like these were a taste of the IDEAL WORLD he fervently sought to help create. He nods at Diana's gratitude and smiles, sparing a moment to take a bite from his sandwich before admiring the view.[break][break]

Once he's swallowed, he takes a deep breath and pleasantly sighs. "Moments like these remind me of the GALAR I left behind. The parts of it I truly admired, anyway." He admits, casting their Pokémon a look as they dangle their feet by the edge of the well. "Do you remember the picnics we used to have in the Applin Orchard? With Elise Calcifet and everyone else? It all feels like a different world now, doesn't it?"[break][break]

A world that now seemed impossible to bring back. However, that wouldn't stop him from trying, despite all of HOENN's surmounting troubles.[break][break]

[attr="class","diana"]Diana appreciated the calmness of it all. There was a gentle breeze that pushed the strands of hair that threatened to fall in her face away, ruffling Remiel Calcifet's. She giggled when it left it looking rather wild.

"It was like this for a short time, after you left. But it was lonely without you," she said.

She munched on her sandwich, dusting off her fingers when she'd finished. Perhaps out of habit, Diana reached up, fixing his hair so the strands weren't so wild anymore. "The queen would be furious if you came back with your hair like that."

Leaning back on her hands, Diana tilted her head back. "Maybe one day, things could go back to normal." But that was wishful thinking.

Nothing could go back to the way they were when they were young.

"Do you think they'll come? The FLYGON?"

Diana fixing his hair may be innocent enough, but that doesn't stop the slight blush from appearing on Remiel's cheeks. "That's if I ever come back," The crown prince chuckles. "HOENN seems determined to keep me here... or kill me."[break][break]

Though the remark might be grim, he casually continues to eat. It was a dark humor that was, perhaps, foreign to Diana Cavendish and anyone else who knew him years before. Something he had likely adopted as ADMIN FOX.[break][break]

"Well, it's almost midday, so if the FLYGON were going to show up it'd be right about—" Stopping mid-sentence and setting his half-eaten sandwich down, Remiel stares ahead at the farmland before pointing out the object of his scrutiny. "That's the farmer's Arboliva, right? What is she doing?"[break][break]

Unaccompanied by her trainer, the Arboliva glides across the farmland like an angel, gently swaying her arms to and fro as she spreads a SWEET SCENT into the air and summons a GRASSY TERRAIN.[break][break]

[attr="class","diana"]Diana had a feeling deep down that Remiel Calcifet would perhaps never set foot back in his homeland. He seemed content here. Or maybe it was that he was forced to be that way. She had no clue what happened to him or what he'd done when he left Galar, but...

He almost appeared Hoennian now.

She didn't respond or react to his joke, instead holding her hands close to her and looking away from him.

Her head turned into the direction he indicated to when the ARBOLIVA appeared into the field. It seemed to not notice them in the distance, performing its dance across the ground.

"What is it doing?"

The GRASSY TERRAIN summoned by the Arboliva swiftly spreads across the once-ruined crop, covering the craters with fresh grass. But it doesn't stop there. That magical power summons bushes full of pinap berries, too. Which, in turn...[break][break]

'GRYOOOOH!'[break][break]

Summons three FLYGON.

Seeing this, something suddenly clicks in Remiel's mind. Diana can likely see it in his eyes as he sets down his leftovers and stands up. "I understand now..." He mutters under his breath, watching as the three Flygon encircle the Arboliva.[break][break]

Though the circling from above could be construed as intimidating, the dragons did not appear to be actively attacking the Arbolive yet. So, turning to Diana, the exiled prince relays his plan.[break][break]

"I'm walking over to try and address this situation. You're free to wait here, but if you're coming along... you follow my every move, understand?"[break][break]
