THE ULTRA CRATER IS A LARGE EXPANSE UNDERNEATH A YELLOW SKY. In between thick, almost impassable jungles, craters filled with green fields and alien plants lay. What appears to be metal pipe-like roots grow out the rock of crater walls. Geysers dot this alien landscape, occasionally expelling shrieking steam.[break][break]

The world is frequented by earthquakes, causing odd red monoliths of rock to quake throughout the realm. Oddly, the Ultra Thicket possesses very fertile soil. In the distance, a large mountainous expanse can be seen, though the range does not seem too high.

Lash was starting to think that coming back here wasn’t a great idea. Honestly, last time she had not even seen any space-time distortions at all. It was unlikely to get another one in the same area, sadly. Well, it probably was just as likely as getting it anywhere else, really. She sighed. It was always tough to acknowledge that particular issue. Moping slightly, she more closely observed the area that she was flying over on Hydreigon.

It was, indeed, a fool’s errand to scour dangerous areas like this in her perpetual search for time. At the end of the day, she probably would be just as efficient by simply picking a random direction and fly over inhabited land. Deep down, she knew that just going to a dangerous place did not actually increase her chances.

Yet, she just could not help herself. What if she missed one, just because she took the path of least resistance? It was difficult enough to justify not being out there looking all the time, so any time she did go out, she felt like she needed to do her very best.

Lash sighed, before looking at a flare in the distance, probably another Celesteela lifting off.

Because yeah, after failing to grab one of the babies last time, she kind of had also gone back here to see if she could get one this time. That, at least, she acknowledged.

Johanna’s reasoning for coming here had been rather flimsy. Sightseeing might be the most honest answer one could make.

Whatever her reasoning she was currently traversing through the jungle. Trying to sneak as quietly as possible, though rustling leaves and breaking bamboo branches made for poor sneaking. And it was these very sounds that allerted a Kartana swarm nearby.

They ambushed her Had it not been for quick and dexterous fiery deflection from her Flutter Mane, she would’ve become minced meat. But now she had a chance. She ran, ran as quickly as she could through the Bamboo forest. Grabbing and breaking what she could not move around as the swarm of deadly slicing paper hunted her. .

Hmm, so this time, there wasn’t commotion in the skies but on the ground. At least that was what she heard as they flew over the area. The Kartana tended to not get this high up and the Celesteela, well, they might be able to get far up, but they were just kind of limited to taking off like a rocket. That was very telegraphed and they were certainly able to protect themselves from it.

But, apparently, something was going on down there. She saw some of the trees being cut down by errand slices, following a clear path through the jungle. Maybe the little ones had found some prey? That would not really be her problem though.
Not really, no. She was tempted to just go by, but she saw some pink energy being emitted by something. And while too much of that was always bad, seeing a bit probably meant that another person was there. Someone who might have seen a distortion.

She sighed, but decided to overtake that procession and fly ahead, so that they could wait at a clearing where she hoped the chasee would exit the woods. And from there, she had her Hydreigon prepare a Tri-Attack to loosen on the Kartanas chasing. Or the chasee, if it turned out someone she already did not like.

There was a point in time where Johanna’s Flutter Mane had thought it sufficient with a fiery deflection. It had brought the Kartana to a halt shortly. And for the briefest of moments Ghost stood before an Army of blades like a singular swordsman waiting for the inevitable clash.

The clash came at the sound of a snapped bamboo as Johanna ran. A fiery dance of MYSTICAL FIRE appeared, but the Flutter Mane quickly realized that all it could do was run, and so it followed in the footsteps of its trainer.

Lasciel chose wisely when she picked her location for waiting. Johanna and the Flutter Mane exited straight through a cluster of bamboo leading the Kartana into the trap Lasciel had set.

Lash was an experienced poacher, so this was not the first time she had seen someone bite off more than they could chew and get chased by an horde of Pokemon. Sure, never with Kartanas, but it wasn’t like those were too different from a swarm of Scythers, really. Green, agile, with a penchant for cutting. You did not want to get caught by either.

Still, there was a bit of a difference, leading to her whispering a plan of attack to the three-headed dragon. After all, no way it could by itself just beat up that many Pokemon in one attack. But they did not need to, hopefully. Those buggers were hard to catch, probably. Hence, the three heads readied a beam each. And once that human had passed, they unleashed them, one in the middle, one to the left, one to the right – only to then change their angles across the ground as if trying to randomly switch sides, creating a field of attack that hopefully would cause the others to recoil and regroup instead of charging blindly through them.

In the meantime, Lash would not bother to reach out a hand to the larger lady, that would be futile. “Get on board, this won’t stall them for too long,” she ordered the lady anyway.

Both trainer and Pokemon charged through and just as they had passed the beams flew straight by. Too close for her comfort, but she wasn’t about to argue with the help.

Instead as Lasciel ordered her offer of help, Johanna complied hurrying onto her saviors Pokemon, the Flutter Mane floating closeby ready to follow. A quickly given "Thank you." was muttered as Johanna got herself settle.

Smart girl. And yes, she knew how weird that would come across said by someone of her size. But that was why she did not say it out loud, of course. That would be silly. And distracting. She was just getting the lady onto her Hydreigon, after all.

Fortunately, that Flutter Mane could just fly alongside them, so that was not a hassle to get on board or anything like that. Instead, she would immediately nudge her Hydreigon to stop trying to beam into the horde, but instead to take off again. “Don’t mention it. Especially when we aren’t out of the roughs yet.”

After all, they still had an angry swarm after them. The ice and fire would not deter them for too long once the dragon showed them its back. Hence, they were darting diagonally towards the sky, trying to get both distance and altitude quickly in order to get away. Those small ones probably could not fly too high, she figured.

Up and up they went. Johanna did her best to stay on the Hydreigon’s back. The Flutter Mane following behind as best it could.

Her gaze darted back and forth between the ground to keep tabs on their tiny attackers and the heavens to make sure they did not fly into something weird.

Unfortunately for Johanna the ‘weird’ had decided to fly into them. it seemed the commotion had attracted flying attention. Celesteela flew toward them behind it a trail of incendiary gas floated, ready to be lit with the smallest of sparks.

Phew. They had gotten away. Mostly. Looking back, Lash noticed that somehow during all of this, one of the little ones had managed to latch onto Hydreigon. However, despite its sharp edges, the dragon did not seem to be all that hurt by it. None of the heards were even trying to bite it off or throw some kind of beam at it.

Strange. It really have to try to keep hanging onto them without causing damage. Lash decided to take that opportunity to just try and throw a ball at the little one. If she caught it, good. Otherwise she’d just wasted an empty Pokeball.

Or, well, so she thought. Because the whole ordeal had distracted her just enough to not notice the big bad rocket thing coming towards them at high speeds. If she had, she probably would have told Hydreigon not to fire another Tri-Attack before they could collide.

And then, just maybe, there would not have been the huge explosion in the air before them that followed.

Before Johanna could yell a warning, a tri-attack flew from the Hydreigon. And as the fiery part of the attack graced the weird gas it ignited and turned into a huge explosion.

All Johanna could do to stay on the Hydreigon was cling tightly, pray and ignore the screeching sound within her ears from the explosion.

At least the explosion worked on the Celesteela as well, throwing it off course downwards while it tried to regain control.

At least it gave them an opportunity to escape from all of this.
