the tunnel goes down and down and down into the dark. her phone murmurs low, whispered voices and she brings it to her ear, side-eyeing the one accompanying her on this journey. this isn't her first time in the simulation, but she's not as used to it as some others. the name calcifet had jumped out at her, and so she'd volunteered herself to join the simulated expedition.

her nerve endings scream to reach out, to decipher the nonsensical messages, knowing their chorus will only grow louder if she takes steps further into the tunnel.

but she is a stubborn thing.

"can you make out what they're saying?" she asks, all business.

Though the ambassador knows it’s a simulation like the one she ventured into with her elder cousin, the sounds from the tunnel feels a little real to her. Her smartphone picks up the distorted and garbled noises coming from the deep part and the unease sets in for her. Through the garbled language that the noise speaks, it sounded like something was pulling the female royal and her companion into whatever was waiting for them deep inside the tunnels.[break][break]

She’s asked if the royal Galarian ambassador can make out what they were saying as Elise turns towards the blonde councilwoman. “I can make out that they are speaking of pulling us into something.” A response came from the royal Galarian princess since the other woman was of a higher position in Hoenn that Elise should act very professional with Councilwoman Morningstar too.

the princess's forewarning gives her enough of a hint to prepare for the next part. the floor crumbles away and she tucks her knees in. no physical harm can come to them here, but the fight or flight response in her brain doesn't know that. her amygdala spasms, eeking out hormones that make her eyes sharpen, hand at her choker.

her fingertips grace the ball, but lyune is not summoned. she hits the ground at a roll.

breath in staccato pants, the walls around them swimming in a language of the ancients. her attention goes back to the calcifet cousin with some urgency.

"you alright?" she asks as she offers a hand.

The forewarning that Elise gave to her councilwoman companion has the floor give way below them and she’ll instinctively try to cushion her own fall. While the diplomat’s Pokemon aren’t released yet, feeling the pain that came from the fall would make her shut it out. Though it was a simulation, the panic that the envoy of Galar feels is real and when she’s feeling the pain from the fall ebb away slowly, the voice of the blonde councilwoman comes to her like a relief.[break][break]

“I am alright, thank you.” The Galarian princess breathes in and out to slow the pain while the ambassador takes the councilwoman’s hand and permits Councilwoman Morningstar to help her up. There was also a language of the ancients on the walls that she wouldn’t know much.

the simulation folds in on itself, pixels bleeding way to white. and then it reconstructs around them. moonlight splits the perverse cavern. anxiety squirms under her skin; since the emergence of the tera crystal caverns, she has not taken kindly to being underground.

the only place she's felt safe within the confines of rock is in her home, but that's become a distant memory too.

the ghastly specter emerges from the rock and two prompts float up on either side of it. freya looks to her companion, knowing at the very least that ghosts are her expertise.

The simulation begins to change where she and the councilwoman were no longer in the ruins, but they were in a dark underground tomb. Light from the moon beams down from the small hole where headstones surround the two. From the fissure on one rock, the ambassador correctly identifies that an odd keystone would hold a Spiritomb and that ghost’s misty purple body comes out of it.[break][break]

Orbs of green surround the ghost’s body as its smile is one of malice. Her mother had always told her that there were good and bad ghost Pokemon that she had to deal with in her lifetime as a spirit channeler in Ecruteak City. The Galarian Ambassador’s maternal ancestors from her mother’s side probably had to deal with spirits like these all the time too.[break][break]

To ease the councilwoman’s worries, the Galarian princess takes the lead in exorcising the malicious Spiritomb with a Johtonian prayer for purification, the way that her mother taught her at the Bell Tower. “By the holy Rainbow One’s name, I purify your destructive spirit and return you to whence you came from the spirit world.”[break][break]

The Spiritomb frowns when it ends up getting exorcised by the purification prayer. All that remained of the purple misty ghost now was the Odd Keystone without its body to come out of it.

so many of these simulations end in destruction. golden light accompanies elise's prayer and freya watches wordlessly, though startles when the spiritomb does not react as planned. they're forced to flee as it bursts once more from the keystone, vengeful spirits out to chase them. they're meant to run, and so they run.

pillars of light become opaque in the distance and she points towards one she recognizes - "the tao dragons. let's hurry before they catch us."

As much as she had tried to attempt to exorcise the vengeful ghost, the Spiritomb’s souls fly out of the ghost type Pokemon. Rage comes onto the ghost and she’s forced to flee with the blonde councilwoman. The ambassador takes notice of the Spritiomb’s words being that it must’ve been imprisoned for 500 years which was the normal lifepspan for the species. [break][break]

The pillars of light were blurry by the time she and Freya see them and Freya is able to point out the sight of the Tao Dragons coming in the pillars of light. “I’ll try my best.” Elise replies as she makes the run with the councilwoman and doesn’t look back to see if the Spiritomb was still chasing after them.

the simulation fades behind them, building a new one in its place. even digitally rendered, the dragons are nothing short of magnificent. the confrontation between the two men fascinates her, as do the options that float on either side of them as time slows down.

Remiel Calcifet speaks of his ideal world, the voice of his patron a benevolent roar. with no reshiram to stand in his way, what would that world look like?
