Area Zero definitely had him curious; unfortunately, he really didn't have time to do any sightseeing. Not that it would be the best idea anyway, considering the powerful Pokémon that called Area Zero home. It was still a nice thought though.

Speaking of powerful Pokémon, that's the whole reason he had come here. Not to try and catch them or anything like that, but to dispel them.

Apparently, there had been reports of paradox Pokémon running amok in Area Zero. Because of that, some people were afraid they would escape into Hoenn, causing irreversible damage. And considering his career as an officer, it was his duty to alleviate that fear and keep those around him safe.

Entering the place known as Area Zero, he kept his eyes peeled for any dangerous Pokémon, Selene, his Umbreon, and Aurora, his Espeon, at his heels.

What he wasn't expecting was to come across a civilian. Seeing the younger male, he made his way over.

Unbeknownst to his new companion, Roy wasn't alone. Emerging from the dense clouds above, a charizard materialized and hastily touched down beside his trainer. Balmung, the oversized charizard, had been surveying the area and gathering any necessary information to relay to Roy. A silent exchange confirmed the presence of a horde of rampaging paradox pokemon further down the slope.

"If you're here to help, you can follow me." He invited the trainer without any further introduction.

Part of him wanted to tell him to go back anyway. The part that worried about something happening to him. Like him getting hurt or worse on his watch. He wasn't sure what he would do if something like that happened.

He pressed his lips together and nodded, trusting his judgment. Hopefully, he wouldn't regret not sending him back. He did have a Charizard so that was something.

As he mentioned them teaming up, he decided it would be the best idea. That way, he could keep an eye on him. Protect him if he had to.

Perhaps because of his line of thoughts or the darkness that surrounded him, he was suddenly very afraid that he wouldn't be able to protect him. That he would just end up another dead person he had failed to protect. Just like...

The draconid really had no business playing hero in Area Zero. This kind of thing was best left for the League and their rangers. His real motives were fueled by an ambition that danced on the fine line between valor and venality. The daunting landscape crafted solely by a legendary pokemon and the distorted pokemon contained within empowered his own curiosity.

As the tension grew, Roy's attention was suddenly shifted to his comrade as he noticed a change in his composure.

"You alright?" He asks, cutting through the gentle aura of Area Zero.

"Be ready."

Without any further discussion, Roy descended the slope with his charizard at his side. The dragon's tail flames begin to rapidly flicker and grow in size. The paradox pokemon at the end had noticed them. The stage was set; battle start!

The younger male's voice cut through the fear that had clouded his thoughts, and he mentally shook himself. "Yeah, just thinking about how bad it'll be if any of these Pokémon get out of Area Zero. People's lives would definitely be in danger, so let's ensure that doesn't happen," he said, sticking somewhat to the truth but not the whole truth.

Once he had reassured the guy he was okay, they continued on in silence. The silence was only broken when they finally came across a Paradox Pokémon. "Aurora, Selene, prepare yourselves," he said as the Paradox Pokémon took notice of them.

He was about ready to give his Espeon and Umbreon a command when a cry sounded. It was further down and hard to make out, so he wasn't too worried. Even so...

The assault commences with a bizarre infantry that consists of paradoxical creatures that resemble real world pokemon. The front of the pack consisted of pink jelly-like creatures while a ghoul-like creature played mastermind from the rear. Three of these jigglypuff-styled creatures surge ahead, initiating battle with their human counterparts. The remaining creatures howl and scream, amplifying the strength of their frontline.

Two of the three creatures charge for the trainer accompanied by his fox-like pokemon, aiming to close the distance and latch onto their opponents with some sort of bite move.

Meanwhile, the third paradox locks onto the draconid. With a subtle finger gesture, the trainer beckons his charizard forward to swiftly confront the fairy-type pokemon. In a single, but decisive motion, the fire-type dispatches the jigglypuff doppelganger with a single electrifying punch.

"Let's do this," the trainer declares, clenching his knuckles into his other palm.

From the back, the ghost-type paradox unleashes an additional haunting roar, setting the stage for both the trainers and their paradoxical opponents.

His eyes surveyed the paradox Pokémon, and he prepared himself. More than a few of them resembled a Jigglypuff. After using his Rotom Phone to get a read on their type, he directed his Pokémon to attack the Scream Tail head-on. Hopefully, having gained a partial Psychic typing, Dark-type moves would actually do something.

"Selene, use Dark Pulse on that Scream Tail. Aurora, use Copycat to copy Selene's Dark Pulse," he told them before falling quiet to watch the battle unfold. Hopefully, they would be able to keep these Pokémon from invading Hoenn.

Having received their orders, the two Eeveelutions released Dark Pulse from their mouths onto the oncoming Scream Tail. Having put more power behind the moves than necessary, he watched as the oncoming Scream Tail were thrown back and subsequently knocked out.

Well, that was three down, but he made sure to tell Selene and Aurora about putting too much power behind their moves. They would only end up wearing themselves out before the battle was even halfway finished if they kept that up.

Roy mentally acknowledged his comrade's battle prowess with a simple nod. He wasn't paired with some novice; this particular individual knew how to fight. The strategy of doubling up on Dark Pulse through the use of Copycat seemed quite useful, especially for circumstances like these.

"I think so too," he replied. "Nice work."

However, the paradox pokemon were far from finished. Another primal howl from the saurian in the rear urged the next wave forward. This time, they weren't alone. Among the ranks of the pink gumballs, a peculiar creature of metal emerged. He used oversized magnets as limbs to climb through the sea of pink.

"Balmung," without hesitation, Roy commands his charizard to react before the infantry can make their move. With a roar, his companion launched forward like a cannonball, slamming into the party of pink with a single blazing tackle.

His companion was a competent battler. He didn't have to worry about both of their battles. Even so, he kept an eye on how the other was holding up with the battles. After all, in this kind of situation, anything could happen, so he just wanted to be prepared.

"Thank you, you're quite adept at battling as well," he said without taking his eyes off of the advancing Pokémon. Doing so could lead to some pretty dire consequences.

Trusting his companions to be able to decide for themselves what to do, he didn't issue any more orders. Instead, he chose to scan their opponents, making note of how many Pokémon were there.

While the two took a heavy toll on the collection of pink gumballs, the creature of built entirely of magnets found a perch nearby where it could act as back-up artillery to the infantry. The two magnets on its highest piece acted as rails as the paradox pokemon unleashed Zap Cannon towards the human targets. Another pokemon of the same form took a similar stance on rock that was further back, firing off the same electric-type move in repetition.

After his Flare Blitz into the crowd of Scream Tail, Balmung reacted quickly to take the brunt of the electric-type move to protect his trainer. Unfortunately, the dragon was weak to electric-type moves. Like a warplane shot out of the air, the charizard came tumbling down into the mass of pink below.

"Dammit," That's all the draconid could fire back in response. From his pocket, Roy summoned two additional pokemon to the field. Unlike Balmung, both were grounded, but also had clear weaknesses to the fairy-type infantry.

The Scream Tails were starting to thin out due to their attacks. The battle was too intense for him to start feeling relief. Especially after the Sandy Shocks joined the fray. As the Zap Cannon was fired at him and his companion, he stiffened though wasn't worried, at least not for himself. He knew neither Aurora nor Selene would let anything happen to him and that's what worried him.

Just as he thought, Selene threw herself between the attack and her trainer, the attack instantly knocking her out. Sighing, he returned Selene to her Pokéball and released Crystal, his Glaceon, from his Pokéball. Hopefully, her ice attacks would come in handy.

"Do you think you can keep the Scream Tails occupied for a bit?" he inquired.
[break][break]
He was going for the Sandy Shocks. Leaving them to keep firing off Zap Cannons would be more of a hassle than it was worth.

Not waiting long for a response, he directed Aurora and Crystal to focus on the Sandy Shocks.

Crystal seemed to eye the weird-looking Pokémon before firing off an Ice Beam at one.

"You got it," he confirms his role to his ally before returning his focus to his pokemon.

Using the axe mounted to his face, the Haxorus sliced into the horde with varying forms of Slash. The dinosaur charged through on the other side, using its jaws to clear the path. If any Scream Tail got too close, it was made into a gumball for the Tyrantrum to chew on. Despite their type-disadvantage, the duo successfully maintained their role on the battlefield. Thanks to their success, Balmung was able to snap to and release some attacks of his own in the form of electrifying punches.

On the other side of the warzone, Crystal successfully froze one of the Sandy Shocks in place through the use of Ice Beam while Aurora froze the other through the use of Copycat. Everything was going according to plan. The turrets were finished and the dragons were removing what was left of the infantry. Flutter Mane was the only threat left.
