Entering this sea, even with a sygna suit, feels like a violent birth. Pressure mounts in his chest. Common sense is left behind in the world far above. Here be monsters, fables, and legends. Far above them glow angels. Nihilego watch with passive interest. He the humans call this place’s warden has returned, and he brings with him company.[break][break]
Perhaps he should take it as a sign of respect that the lights soon fade. The angels return to prepare their kin, or else they have business elsewhere. Navy leads Calliope to a base a scarce mile into the sea. There, other humans, rangers and military officers alike, rest. Someone is almost always here in the deep. Regular rotations keep the place from getting to anyone.[break][break]
“It’s going to be rough going.” He warns her. “Might think this is the only thing I’ve gotta show you. Oh no. If only we were so lucky. It gets worse.” Throwing out his Cyclizar, Navy mounts the dragon and readies himself for the trek ahead.[break][break]
“We can’t fly, or else the Nihilego will start swarming us. Gotta stay low. Ready?” While talking, he checks Thin Lizzy’s saddlebags. They have enough provisions for the journey. He’s heard tell of rangers getting lost too far afield and going mad. There is little nourishment to be found down in the deep.

Fallen angels float above them, poison dripping in dark promises onto unsuspecting ground.[break][break]

Callie sneered as they glide past. Tension pricks down her spine, expertly hidden in tightly drawn fists.[break][break]

She has no Sygna Suit, but she wears her best rough-necking outfit. A small bag slung across her shoulders. A Ponyta is tossed out to match Thin Lizzy, the fire type snorting steam and digging a hoof into the dirt below. Callie places her hand on the pokemon's flank to calm it.[break][break]

"I'll be fine, so long as you guide us well."[break][break]

It is a warning and a promise all in one, though which way it turns she will not say.

Schools of Carvanha and Sharpedo circle above. They busy themselves chasing down the Magikarp that somehow made their way down here.[break][break]
“It’s like a whole ecosystem down here.” Pokemon swim through the air, their own included when the route takes them to cliff edges. Lizzy swims across a void, thankful to reach solid ground on the other side.[break][break]
“At least it’s cool to travel down here, huh?”

Hoof beats and wheels whir. It's like something out of the movies she watched as a kid. Her and her sister curled under warm blankets, fantasy worlds dancing on the screen. Later, they would whisper in the dark about how they would change it, to make it more magical, what they would be when they went there.[break][break]

Callie quashes that line of thought down, forcefully focusing on the magnetic swim as her horse kicks in the air. A waterless swim.[break][break]

Dust puffs up around the Ponyta's hooves when it reaches the cliff-side. Callie glances around to regain her bearings.[break][break]
