He took a deep breath and let out a small sigh. He hadn't expected to do this on mission. But then again, this was probably the setting where he and Matias were the most comfortable talking in. Maybe because it's closer to Kanto, when they were far closer. He missed it. But he also knew Matias wasn’t an easy man to earn forgiveness from. Still. he was willing to try.

"I guess." Maybe he was selfish. Or had been selfish. After losing almost everyone those ideals instilled in him of loyalty and self sacrifice had burned down like his own command. He'd worked in Hoenn in order to fulfill a selfish desire. Now, he doggedly worked towards something he couldn't quite voice. [break][break]

In contrast to Matias, he wasn't quite sure of what he wanted for himself. Just that if he had blood on his hands, might as well do it for someone else. [break][break]

"of course." he said with a small huff that could almost be confused for a snort. "I hope you believe me when I say I want to be there for you." he said, knowing it was a sliver of grace Matias even spoke to him anymore. But maybe the time apart has also mollified him too. He flexed his hands, missing its dozens and dozens of scars from the war. Yeah, if only erasing it all were that easy.
