"Piece of shit..." Belial Stone growls before giving the DRILLING RIG a swift kick. It was all that remained of the previous squad that had attempted to conduct a GEOLOGICAL SURVEY here. But it was damn near busted, riddled with scorch marks, and dented all around. The surrounding forest, too, was a graveyard of trees and a plain of ash.[break][break]

As his URSALUNA digs beneath this ash with its large paws, hoping to find something to eat within the ground below, the SPECTRA CO-CAPTAIN sighs and turns toward his partner for the endeavor: one Alexandra Briarwood . "Got any ideas to get this thing running, hot stuff?" He smiles, combing his hair back with a single gloved hand.[break][break]

While Belial busies himself with trying to brute force the machine into doing his will, Lex takes a step back. The ex-Beast leans against a nearby crystal, watching with predatory amber eyes. She’d lit a cigarette that is held with reverence between her first two fingers. The white smoke curls over the toothy sneer, “Watch yourself, Stone,” she warns in a slow, deep octave.

When prompted, she pushes herself off her perch and saunters over with slow, steady steps. She never seems to inhale the cigarette. It simply burns between her fingers like incense. Her free hand cracks open a pokeball, “You men and your brute force,” she tsks with a little shake of her head. The dark red lips curl into a salacious smile and she looks Belial dead in the eyes, “Some things need a little finesse,” The shiny Rotom blinks into existence. She shares a brief command with the ghost and sends it on its way.

The electric type zaps itself into the machinery of the drill to sort through the damage and determine if it is even salvageable.

Her suggestive smile meets a devil-may-care smirk as he steps back, placing hands on his hips. "Hey, now, sometimes a little brute force is exactly what the doctor ordered," The mercenary winks as he chews his peppermint gum. "But by all means: show me what your finesse can do, red."[break][break]

Hues of emerald watch as Lex summons her ROTOM and sends it into the rig shortly afterward. Though they're quick to steal a glance at her figure when the Ghost-type disappears. At least until she turns to look at him again, upon which the Stone greets her with an innocent smile and eye contact.[break][break]

"You were gone for a bit, weren't you? What happened? Where'd you go?" Belial inquires. "TEAM ROCKET missed their number one thief, you know. And I thought I'd missed my chance to recruit you for SPECTRA." He adds.[break][break]

Unfortunately for Belial, she feels the burn of the eyes on her - tracing and judging and scheming. Her peripheral vision is as clear as what lies directly ahead of her. At this particular moment, it’s the stream of the Rotom to her phone. A shadow of the creature dances across her screen, indicating it’s still working through the mess and working on putting together the data for relay.

It’s then she glances over towards Bellial. Instead of hiding her appraisal, she openly lets her amber gaze trace his figure up and down. It’s clearly judgmental, assessing him as prey or predator or useless.

She stops when he poses the questions. The judgment fades into something sharper that carries the silent promise of demise when she looks him in the eyes, “Careful to not stick your nose where it doesn’t belong, Stone,” His name is emphasized, as if to imply that’s where he’ll end up if he continues to pry, “I have no interest in joining your little club,” she dismisses the notion with a wave of her hand and she returns her attention back to the phone.

Sticking his nose where it didn't belong was, frankly, a lot of what his job entailed. A lot of what her job entailed, too. And what happened to be the common denominator in both? Money. Which, of course, equated to power. In his eyes, they were both hungry for the same thing. Which, of course, meant Belial wasn't so easily dissuaded from recruiting Alexandra Briarwood into his employ.[break][break]

That being said, the sharp judgemental look her eyes gave him only inspired a smirk as he confidently rose to the challenge. If Lex hadn't already heard, Belial Stone was a man who loved living on the razer's edge: a far cry from the pencil-pushing CEO of ANVIL he made himself out to be in the common world. And, while he'd met thieves before as a soldier of fortune traveling the world, he'd never quite met one like her.[break][break]

The drilling rig slightly jostles as he leans upon it, placing himself directly in front of the redhead with crossed arms. "Come now: killing AVATARS. Cementing your name in history. None of that calls to you?" He continues with a devil's gleam in his narrowed eyes. It's almost as if he's trying to break past the walls she's put up to read her mind. "There's a big payout for each head, too, you know. You'd be great at it."[break][break]
