Speak of the Devil, and they shall appear! Except, not quite, as a school of Carvanha threatened to turn the sea to crimson with their hunt. Some in the community might deem their act as cold and cruel. Who would hunt such an adorable Dewott, anyway? The Cadet, on the other hand, understood the nature of survival. He felt a pang of guilt when the Captain seemed to act on instincts based upon emotion. Pokemon in the wild had no luxury of people feeding and caring for them. These Carvanha were being cheated out of a meal that could very well mean the difference between life and death.

Michael hoped to raise a Sharpedo, but not like this. He held close to his heart a policy of recruiting willing Pokemon. He approached the edge of the beach after his superior and watched as the Carvanha school fled back to the safety of the waves.

"Hey, Captain," he started, "I get that we're supposed to help Wild Pokemon. But don't you think we ended up hurting those Carvanha by interfering with their feeding habits?"

The Cadet then noticed one of the Carvanha had returned. They looked defeated and hungry. Seeing them like this tugged on Michael's heartstrings. He pulled out a Pokeball and some Pokemon food, then knelt by the lapping waves as he called to it.

"We're sorry for taking away your chance to eat," he apologized with a gentle smile. "Tell you what, though. I'd love to recruit you to my team. I'd take care of you and make sure you're well fed. How does that sound?"
