When he learned that one of his colleagues had been taken captive by a Team Rocket squadron deep in the Giant Chasm, he quickly volunteered. There was no way he would allow Team Rocket to harm someone who was trying to do good in the world. He was certain that something terrible would happen if the guy was left alone with Team Rocket for too long.

As he learned more about the mission, he was surprised to find out that he wouldn't be working with another officer, but with a ranger instead. Not that it really mattered. As long as a civilian's life wasn't in danger, he was fine with whoever he worked with on the mission.

The sound of footsteps interrupted his thoughts, and he looked up to see a man approaching him. He had heard that the person he would be working with was a dark haired man, so he assumed that he was the one. "Hello," he said, giving him a polite nod.

They met by a lone tree on a ridge overlooking the GIANT CHASM woods below. Audric wasn't sure where they were going to find their captured brethren or how many TEAM ROCKET members they would face, but he hardly seemed worried. SHEBA the HOUNDOOM walked by his side, after all. She'd tracked much smaller things in much larger areas, and she could hold her own in a fight.[break][break]

"Nice to meet you. My name's Audric." The HOLONITE smiles, shaking the other's hand. "I guess we're headed down into those spooky woods," He remarks, gesturing towards his Houndoom with a nod. She has walked past them to stop at the edge of the ridge and sniff in its direction. Her upright tail is a clear sign that she's detected something.[break][break]

"Ready to head down, Mikael?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Audric," he said, inclining his head to the younger male after shaking his hand, his gaze flickering briefly to the Houndoom. His own Pokémon were making sure the way behind them was clear to avoid any surprise attacks from the rear, something he wouldn't put past the team.

As if his thoughts had summoned them, Aurora, his Espeon, and Selene, his Umbreon, returned to his side. Considering how at ease they were, he didn't think there was anything to worry about from behind them, which meant they could press ahead.

Following the others' gaze down to the forest below, he resisted the urge to wince. Woods had never been his cup of tea. Too many places to hide for his taste. Anything could be waiting for them among those trees.

Audric nods and, together, the two make their way down the trail with Sheba leading the way. Normally, the Holonite would make casual conversation. Mikael seemed older than him, after all. He was likely a lot wiser and probably had a storied background that he could hardly even imagine.[break][break]

The ranger, however, can't shake off a penetrating feeling of unease. This entire area felt as though it were under the effects of an invisible ELECTRIC TERRAIN. It's almost as if he's expecting to find someone stalking them with each turn of his head. But, ultimately, this hyperparanoia seems to pay off.[break][break]

Suddenly, he immediately stops in his tracks in tandem with his Houndoom. Then he holds up a hand to silently tell Mikael to do the same. As soon as the two embrace the quiet for a moment, they begin to hear voices somewhere nearby:[break][break]

"C'mon, man! Can we just stop for a moment? I need to pee!"[break][break]

"Guh! Fine! If it'll make you stop your yapping already. You got ONE minute."

"Can you at least untie my hands first? Or would you rather unzip me yourself?"[break][break]

"OH, I need to go, too! Untie me, too, please!"[break][break]

While he wasn't as ill at ease as his companion, he wasn't any less watchful. Being alert was kind of his thing, though. It came with the whole wanting to keep everyone safe aspect of his personality. So his eyes continually scanned their surroundings as they trekked through the forest.

However, it would seem the younger male caught onto something first. Him and their Pokémon, anyway.

Coming to a stop, he remained quiet as the sound of voices reached them. Well, it seemed they had found the Rockets and their captives sooner than anticipated. In fact, considering how close the voices were, if they had kept walking, they probably would've ended up running into them. Not good without some kind of plan.

Worried about being close enough that their own voices would carry, he pulled out his phone. Opening a text screen, he began to type before showing him the message written on the phone.

"How do you want to go about this? If we continue on this path, we're bound to run right into them, but they'll definitely see us coming."

Audric spared a moment to read the text that Mikael had typed out for him. Ultimately, he shakes his head. After pointing ahead, he makes a series of hand gestures afterward that seem to try and relay something back to his partner... but, for the most part, they come across as nonsense. His Houndoom, in the meantime, cooks up a NASTY PLOT.[break][break]

Somewhere nearby, a couple of captives can be heard unzipping and relieving themselves in front of some bushes. The TEAM ROCKET grunt holding them captive and watches them with narrowed eyes, hands on his hips as he impatiently waits for them to finish. Even the GRANBULL by the grunt's side stares them down. Though one of its ears twitches at the sound of a snapping branch.[break][break]

However, before the other dog can turn around, Sheba leaps in to smite her with an INFERNO. Their cover was blown, and Mikael needed to escort the captives out of here before the grunt's reinforcements came![break][break]

Well, he wasn't sure what he was trying to tell him. To him, it seemed like a bunch of nonsense. Before he could even try to figure out what the other was trying to tell him, the Houndoom was already on the move, charging into the camp with an Inferno.

Well, he supposed charging into the thick of things was one way to go about it. It probably caught them off guard with their sudden appearance.

With their attention focused on the Houndoom, he snuck around until he reached the prisoners. Motioning for the prisoners to be quiet, he began to guide them away from the fight. Though before he left, he did send out Khakkhara to help the Houndoom out. Also, sending her out had another use - it would keep the rockets from following them.

Upon being sent out, Khakkhara would immediately attack the Granbull with a Boomburst, further drawing attention away from the prisoners so Mikael and the prisoners could make their escape.[break] Audric Black

Overwhelmed and outnumbered (for the time being), the grunt stood no chance. Nevertheless, Audric commands a SMOG to conceal the direction of their escape. Not long after that, the two rendezvous behind the cover of a large boulder with their rescued LEAGUE personnel in tow.[break][break]

"Thank you, thank you!"[break][break]

"We thought we were done for!"

Despite their acclaim, however, Audric silences them with a single pointed finger against his lips. "We're not out of the woods yet," He whispers, glancing at their surroundings with a hint of a smile. "Literally."[break][break]

Turning to Mikael, he nods. "I'll stay behind and throw any pursuers off our trail. Are you good to take these guys to the closest HQ?" He asks, reaching down to give Sheba affectionate pets all the while.[break][break]

After escaping, he didn't go too far with the prisoners. In a way, it was so he could rendezvous with Audric. However, he had another reason for not going too far. Before going too far, he had to ensure neither were injured. To his relief, neither were, and then all there was to do was wait for the younger man.

The reunion didn't take long, considering the grunts had been overwhelmed, and before too long, Khakkhara was by his side once more.

While the gratitude was well appreciated, now wasn't the time for it. He made a gesture to be quiet before turning his attention to the younger man.

He didn't much like the thought of the younger man putting himself in danger, but he didn't have a better idea. Besides, the younger male had already shown himself to be a proficient battler.

"Very well, but be careful," he cautioned, beckoning Khakkhara to follow as he began to lead the prisoners away.

When he was sure they were far enough away, he would release Helios, his Rapidash, from his Pokéball, allowing the two prisoners to ride on him while he chose to ride Khakkhara.[break] Audric Black

Audric gestures with his hands again, though this time what he's trying to say is much easier to understand: "Nice meeting you! Goodbye!" And, as he backtracks towards the site they'd left behind, his Houndoom follows in tow.[break][break]

With a knack for FOUL PLAY, he and Sheba effortlessly put TEAM ROCKET through a wild goose chase around the woods. At one point, the two even manage to lead an entire squadron into a SLITHER WING hive. The roaring of flame and the chorus of screams that follow afterward are all they need to decide it is time to finally head back.[break][break]
