seeing as it was her new home, petra wasn't going to allow lilycove to be smothered by these infestations - nor the surrounding routes. her mission started today, here in route 121.[break][break]

expecting a partner, she didn't much care to look at her phone for any notifications suggesting who it was. she just waited at the beginning of the route on the cityside, reluctantly inhaling traces of those noxious fumes emanating from the swamps within.[break][break]

mimi, the cubone leaning against her ankles, bats it's club against the ground impatiently. petra stares down, half amused, and also half suspecting the growing frustration might cause a careless swing towards her ankle. "...mind where you're swinging that thing."

Duty sees a very overworked Elite Four member brought to the outskirts of Lilycove. Poisonous Pokemon spread far and wide. Some say it’s a sign of the end-times. Navy has passed more than a few mad prophets spreading that very message. It reminds him of another time, just before Meteno was set to slam into the region.[break][break]
The end isn’t here. Not while he has a beating heart or lungs to breathe. Riding atop a Glastrier, he searches for his partner. The photo given sure makes her look distinct, hard to miss. Besides that, most people aren’t going to march into this hellish mire for the fun of it.[break][break]
“Yo.” He says when he eventually finds Petra and Mimi. “The name’s Navidson. Call me Navy. Here to help you clear out the poison Pokemon along the route.” It’s ranger work, but he’s hardly going to complain. “Got a spare horse Pokemon if you want a ride.”

turning towards the "yo" that breaks the silence of waiting, petra feels remisce to find that it's one of the elite four that'd serve as her partner on the job.

...isn't this a little below his paygrade? even as the latest addition to their numbers, it felt somewhat weird. what've i gotten myself into now? perhaps this mission was a little more dangerous than she bargained for. not that she could complain, having someone more than qualified along.

it made accepting their offer all the easier. "i haven't ridden in a long time, but sure." picking up the cubone, she encourages it to behave with a finger wag. "looks like you're learning how to ride horseback today, mimi. say thanks to the kind man, and behave." hopping up onto the provided rapidash together, the cubone let's out a happy giggle from it's place in her lap - waving towards navy before pointing it's club ahead as if commanding a charge.

guiding the rapidash to stand parralel to navy, she looks over towards him with a bit of skepticism written on her features. "i'm petra by the way." the last name could wait ~~or go completely unmentioned~~, as she wasn't looking for any further courtesies, or even conversation rooted in the matter of her family tree.

"whenever you're ready... we'll do our best to keep up." admittedly, she was curious to see just how much she lost her touch since riding rapidash back during her time in kanto.

His Rapidash could run circles around the Glastrier if he wanted to. For now, there’s nothing to do except look for some poisoned Pokemon.[break][break]

"likewise." just about anyone could provide petra better company than rocket, but this being a member of the elite four certainly piqued some interest. so of course it was a pleasure. and naturally, she wanted to 'make the most' of the opportunity. sadly, that might be difficult since they were both here to work.

"oh, mimi?" a handle cradles the cubone's coarse head at the little one's mention. "that's just her, uhm... nickname." baby name, it was her baby name. "her real name is mischa." but like a parent, she typically referred to the cubone by full name when it was time for a scolding. or something to that effect, anyway.

"and i do get what you mean." having spent far too long cooped up, whether at home or her lab in one of rocket's hideouts... yeah, she just about jumped on any excuse to get some fresh air. to do something other than sit inside and worry. "although, i can't say i know how it goes for you and others in the elite four." she wouldn't mind hearing anything navy might have to say on that end. "are you getting along well with them?"

“Usually.” It’s a cryptic answer, and he knows it when he speaks the word. “You get four egos in a room and sometimes people get mad. Ain’t as bad as it was before, I hear.” A small snort comes after the words. “Crazy that, back in the Monroe days, nobody really thought much of Hoenn’s Elite Four. Probably just ‘cause nobody thought much of our battle circuit before the war. Now…each of us would be good enough to be another region’s champ.”[break][break]
As they venture deeper into the route, fog grows thick around them. The path ahead is still there, but the smell throws Navy off. It’s the sickly sweet rotten bubblegum smell of a fog machine. Something’s producing this. There’s only one Pokemon he can think of that fits the bill.[break][break]
“Weezing, Wee…” A Weezing in a tophat, complete with a green mustache, wheezes its own name. Another sits on the other side of the road, half hidden by the fog. A chain hangs from the bulbous heads of both.[break][break]
“Arceus.” Navy curses, throwing out a pokeball. His Iron Valiant is different from many of its kin. Roland is one-armed, battle-scarred, and painted in colors reminiscent of a shiny Gardevoir undergoing mega evolution. The colors are homage and war paint all in one.[break][break]
“Back me up. We need to get these guys under control so the Rangers can transport ‘em to a sanctuary.” An electric terrain spreads across the ground, activating Roland’s quark drive.

"I'm glad to hear it." There isn't much to do but smile at the news that things, while mostly the same, have finally begun to take a turn in a positive direction. Though at the mention of the old days, where Hoenn was lead by her Uncle Ulysses, she can't help but bite her tongue. There's much to say, but she refuses to wagon her name around like it's all she was good for.

"...Yeah, that is pretty crazy." Her Uncle was viewed as a 'force' regardless, but his cabinet or the gym circuit at the time certainly didn't match his reputation. "Luckily there are trainers that have come to us from overseas, and still are. Not exactly Rocket's wisest move, driving them all towards us." Hoenn's gym circuit and military strategies could only benefit from those who've encountered Rocket elsewhere. Especially those who've fought and lived to tell their tale.

Eventually their commitment here today catches up to them, or them it. A bunch of ~~scumbags~~ Weezing. "Sure thing, I got your back." Allowing Navy to take the lead, Petra conjures her Ninetales in order to provide the help requested of her.

Noxious gas begins to leak from every orifice of the Weezing collective, seemingly enough for the Ninetales to get involved. The rogue's extrasensory power would single out one of the unfortunate Weezing, making their job easier now that their numbers were widdled down by one.
