Another recon mission, another expedition into the further depths of area zero to continue to gather information in any form possible. For better or for worse though, Yuina found herself rather enjoying getting into the science of geology in all of the ventures she's had to make thus far.[break]
It would never do well if she couldn't expand her academia from just her own fields of study.[break][break]
Glancing up from a set of sensors she was monitoring, knowing the unstable nature of the tectonic plates was still at large, Yuina looked to Gwyar, her assignment for the expedition.[break]
"Hmm? Oh yes, a handful of times now. Comes with the territory of being involved with the league, doesn't it," Yuina mused, light enough, but there was truth to it. After all, they had met before during a mission to the depths of the ultra sea... So he must still be involved at a fair level with the league organization.

Asriel had no interest in coming to Area Zero. There was nothing here for him, but the secrets of the abyss and teracystal's power were of great interest to rocket scientists. If his father Raphael Pryde were still in hoenn he surely would be fascinated with the never ending possibilities.

Unlike Asriel Pryde here, Cade Atreides used his work as a means of constant self-improvement. His deployment here was a chance to acquire resources that would benefit his goals for power. Which, in turn, would make doing his work a lot easier.[break][break]

AREA ZERO was beautiful, though. Even he couldn't deny that. But, on patrol, he was focused on nothing but keeping LEAGUE personnel out of secured areas and seizing resources they came across for themselves. Rather than ambush the voices he heard echoing from down the canyon, however, he chose instead to actively seek them out.[break][break]

"Let's go," He tells Asriel with a nod, his face obscured behind a simple MASK in the style of a wolf. Not long after that, Gwyar Wledig and Yuina Higashi find themselves face-to-face with this imposing man and the MAGMORTAR that stands beside him.[break][break]

"This is as far as you go," He utters, pointing a single gloved hand in their direction. "FIRE BLAST."[break][break]

Their advance came to a stop.

A large, man with a mean looking mask and a larger, meaner looking Pokemon blocked their path.

And fire blasted them.

Gwyar's shadow became a shade lighter as his Aegislash moved, her shield shining brightly as a large barrier surrounded Gwyar and Yuina.

"Look alive, Ms. Higashi." Gwyar said, staring at the masked man wearily before letting his gaze wander in search. "We're not conceding an inch to Rocket."

Given how bold they were, he doubted they were alone.

Having put away the sensors she was watching to keep an eye on the tectonic movement of the chasm, Yuina hadn't yet switched to look at the vague enough maps that the league had etched out of territory lines.[break]
Arbitrary lines really... Scrawling across an environment that the surface world shouldn't feel entitled to lay claim to... But alas, it seemed that those lines had been crossed as Yuina looked up standing beside Gwyar, they'd been found.[break][break]
"I guess there's no room for negotiations here," Yuina coughed a bit at the flame that wrapped around the shield of Gywar's Aegislash. They might not have been consumed, but the heat was still prevalent as it dissipated. She could fight fire with fire though.[break][break]
Tapping one of her own Pokeballs, Yuina summoned Rasza the Charizard into the air. The dragon huffed, open maw and bared fangs as she eyed their adversary. The Charizard began to beat her wings, whipping up a furious flurry of dirt and Scorching Sand that rushed towards the offending Magmortar.

A direct engagement was a questionable approach but Asriel saw no reason to argue with Cade. Instead he followed Cade's lead, watching from the shadows as the confrontation unfolded. He accessed that Yunia would be an easier target given her youthful appearance Asriel assumed that she was inexperienced.

Before the scorching sands makes contact with magmortar, a luxray leaps down from a nearby tree. The feline conjures a protective barrier which deflects the Charizard's attack. With a menacing snarl it's gaze is locked onto the Charizard carefully analyzing it's every movement.

Asriel decides to remain hidden within the shadows, knowing full well that Cade was the type to bask in the glory. He had no qualms in supporting the narcissist behind the scenes.

Past the haze of smoke that the FIRE BLAST leaves behind, Cade Atreides continues to glare at them. And, despite CHEYENNE bracing herself, Asriel's LUXRAY leaps in to PROTECT her. The Magmortar smirks; thankful, no doubt. But more than eager to continue firing upon their opponent's Pokémon as she raises both of her cannons.[break][break]

"HYPER BEAM."

With a deafening blast, Cheyenne unleashes destruction in the direction of the opposing CHARIZARD. Whether or not it strikes, however, this powerful beam has another motive: to destroy the cavernous ceiling above Gwyar Wledig and Yuina Higashi and bury them beneath a ROCK SLIDE.[break][break]

FT. Yuina Higashi, Asriel Pryde, Cade Atreides

Gwyar's Aegislash lunged towards the Magmortar despite the masked man's order, flying forth like a bullet even as the Hyper Beam was released.

The sword was fully consumed, and not a peep was heard from it.

It emerged through the blast entirely untouched, its Head Smash coming down upon its target while it was both rooted by its own blast and soon to be exhausted by its attack.

Though all of that did little to help with the fact the Hyper Beam had blasted the ceiling directly above the leaguers.

As boulders descended upon them, Gwyar reached out and grabbed Yuina, right before they were seemingly crushed beneath granite rock. No crunch was heard and no screaming followed, however.

A shadow swept over the cavernous walls, before pooling together into a deep dark. The blonde and his companion emerged from the it, unscathed.

"Hoh. Quite useful." Gwyar hummed while tugging at his suspiciously glowing suspenders, giving the large masked man a razor smile.

The dragon hissed at her attack being deflected, the sands whipped against the barrier of protect with little give. Lofting on her wings, Rasza eyed now two targets, she would have to broaden her scope.[break][break]
The Hyper Beam rang true though, firing through the air, and it was the small bit of deflection from Gwyar's Aegislash that allowed her to turn out of the way, pushing through the air on her wings. The maneuver was lost though as the energy pulsed through the rocks above.[break][break]
Yuina's breath caught in her chest, the initial shower of dust and pebble from above was the true giveaway to the gravity of the compromising position they were in. But just as everything began to grow dark around them, it was instantly dark, and cold to match... She felt like she had been crushed, her chest ached at the tension of the situation, but she felt movement, Gwyar beside her, and then she blinked into the light again...[break][break]
"Wh-what...," she coughed, she didn't know how he did it... But he did... They were still alive.[break]
"We can't let them do that again, another attack like that will threaten the integrity of the chasm," Yuina breathed, standing with Gwyar, looking up to the dragon above her.[break][break]
Rasza snarled, smoke billowing from her maw at the idea that her trainer had nearly been crushed. She eyed both Pokemon with a furious glare as she began to beat her wings in a furious Hurricane.

There was little luxray could do to protect Magmortar from Aegislash's relentless speed. It's tail lashes out instinctively sending cracks of lightning through the air. Witnessing the brutal attack against it's ally caused the luxray to growl harshly, preparing to take down the Aegislash in case the magmortar was unable to do so.

But there was no need

A grin creeps on to Asriel's face as he watches the horror unfold, massive boulders barreling down towards the league; he was confident that the Hyperbeam finished them off. The luxray would conjure a protective barrier once again to protect Cade from stray boulders.

However the grin quickly fades upon noticing that Gwyar and Yuina miraculously emerge from the rock-slide unharmed and unphased. He huffs clicking open his pokeball to summon a kirlia. "Teleport" the psychic type clasped it's hands in the form of a prayer and within a blink they teleported to Cade's side. Finishing it's task the Kirlia took a swift bow before vanishing back into Asriel's pokeball.

The defeat of his luxray doesn't phase him instead he simply summons out his next pokemon, a nidoqueen. The pokemon roars out with a Superpower soon as it emerges preparing for the fierce battle.

The moment the swift HEAD SMASH connects with Cheyenne her FLAME BODY ignites, repelling the AEGISLASH with a possible BURN before the fire titan staggers backward. The move proves super-effective, dropping the Magmortar onto one knee before a HURRICANE sweeps through. Behind the cover of a large boulder, Cade returns his Pokémon before he sees it faint.[break][break]

After the HURRICANE subsides, another challenger comes lumbering out from the cloud of dust it has left in its wake. Cade has summoned his towering BEARTIC champion, OSWALDO. With her mission accomplished and her edge singed an ugly crimson by the enemy's blaze, the Aegislash fell back to her trainer, the mans tepping forth and holding out his arm.

The King's shield barrier appeared as the water came, the rushing river parting around the sphere.

'Let's switch targets.' Gwyar mouthed Yuina's way.

His Aegislash hung back briefly, the former red burns now scarring along its steel edge.
