Settling again at her desk in the National Museum of Natural History, Yuina smiled softly at Andrea as she tried to reign it all back in.[break]
"Don't do that. You don't need to call yourself a dummy. You're passionate, and you want to explore every avenue of information that you can for your research. That not only makes you smart, but open minded," Yuina returned, shaking her head at Andrea's self deprecation.[break][break]
"True intelligence is being able to take new information and formulate new ideas and new responses with it, in tandem with what you already know. And that you don't need to take with a grain of salt," she smiled, turning her attention back towards the book on her desk, trying to find her place again.[break][break]
"That said, I think we already found an interesting idea. If this natural path was the beginning of all things, that could mean that humans have always been a part of the road of creation. And potentially means that all living things were created the same."

Yuina combated Andrea's self-deprecation with some much needed validation. It was super effective! "You're right. Thank you..." The young PokéManiac nodded appreciatively. Now that they were back on the right track, she had a brand new tool in her truth-seeking arsenal.

"So humans ARE Pokémon! Well... kinda. In the sense that we both walk on the same road. Or we used to. What happened? Did humans take a wrong turn or something? Why are we so alike and yet so different? Why are we mammals instead of laying eggs? Why can't we use elemental attacks? Why do we pay taxes? Were we always meant to turn out the way we did?" The eccentric trainer resumed her line of bizarre questioning. "Does this book mention humans at all? How we were created? What our purpose is?"

Andrea certainly had a lot of... ... ... Interesting questions to ask as Yuina listened, and let her go on, and on... She didn't interrupt, only to allow herself a moment to try and think of how best to answer any of the questions she asked, even just one... She was way out of her league here in many different facets.[break][break]
"Well, uh... There's only so many things that I can surmise Andrea... I'll try not to disappoint," Yuina mentioned, she certainly had no ways to answer questions about mammals and taxes and where humans might have taken a wrong turn...[break][break]
She truly had no room to speak on such things, it wasn't as though she were an avatar by any means or had any merit in studies or experience, but there was at least something that Yuina could bring to the table for some of Andrea's questions.[break]
"I'm still not sure that we truly are so different thinking about it. You ask a lot of good questions, why can't we use elemental attacks? But what if we can, and it just takes something like unlocking the ability or having the right circumstances to achieve that? What if some of our friends, avatars, always had the inherent capability for the powers they posses, but it took something like the right kind of infinity energy to realize that power," Yuina offered. She could be entirely incorrect of course, and had no grounds to make these kinds of assertations, but what if 'avatar powers' didn't have much to do with the Pokemon bestowing the power and more to do with the infinity energy that was inherent in every living thing?

Yuina’s latest conjecture stimulated Andrea’s boundless imagination. “What a weird coincidence. John Sullivan mentioned avatars too. I wonder if pumping a normal human full of Infinity Energy could unlock similar powers. Isn’t that kinda what Sygna Suits already do?” The dragon fanatic suddenly realized that she was, once again, jumping the gun. “Oops, I’m getting ahead of myself. That would be more a question for Eva Morales.”

Their discussion had strayed from a historian’s usual field of work. Once again, they needed to get back on track. If the creation myth did not hold the answers, perhaps they needed to skip a few million years in the timeline to an era her fellow girlie was actually versed in.

“So, about Hisui… What kind of relationship did humans and Pokémon have in those times?” The onesie-clad woman curiously asked, while giving her Fuecoco belly rubs. “That was back when Pokéballs were powered by steam, right? Did trainers even exist back then?”

Yuina swallowed, eyes still behind her glasses... She was going to be implicated in a series of unlisenced infinity energy experiments if she kept Andrea on this track...[break]
"Maybe... maybe we shouldn't wonder on that too much without some better resources for infinity energy. I don't think I'm a good theorist on the topic," Yuina mentioned, hopeful... she too was getting ahead of herself, just because she had some pieces didn't mean she should put them together in any type of way...[break][break]
Andrea took a couple of moments, thoughtful again, and came back to another, more grounded topic, one that Yuina was pleased to consider, one she was intimately familiar with.[break]
"Yes, that's right, a mechanical wonder back then. They were really the beginning I think of what we know to be 'pokemon training' today," Yuina returned, reaching down and taking Daikenki's Pokeball out and placing it on her desk. A replica to most, but authentic to her... The Ultraball she had originally caught him in.[break][break]
"Pokemon were... wild back then, unencumbered by human interference. Jubilife village was built within walls and gates, not in an attempt to keep other humans out, but to keep Pokemon out and keep their settlers in," Yuina described, leaving the book on her desk untouched.[break]
"Pokemon were mysterious, and from mystery comes fear. In an undisturbed environment, Pokemon didn't care about the difference between a Pokemon or human opponent. Only those brave enough to leave the village walls to seek out a Pokemon had one of their own, but so few left the village, and even fewer came back," the picture, the 'story' wasn't pretty, there was nothing to romanticize about a wild and feral past in which human settlers and Pokemon began to clash.

Andrea pondered the historian’s exposition, all the while inspecting the curious ball set onto the table. An enclosed village of people who lived in fear of Pokémon… It sounded absurd by today’s standards. “Wow… Those sure were different times, huh?”

However, something did not add up. “Wait, what about the Draconid people? They’re WAY older than Hisuians and they were the first humans to tame Dragon-type Pokémon. And then there’s Pokémon like Cyclizar. There’s apparently evidence that humans have ridden on its back as far back as 10,000 years ago!”

A new mystery had manifested. What was the source of the Hisuian people’s prejudice when their species had made first contact long before Jubilife was built? Could an unknown event have caused them to become estranged?

Before she could get too lost in the memories of that far away place, Andrea had more wonderings. Fair and valid points of other ancient societies that existed alongside Pokemon.[break][break]
"You're right, there are many other cultures on other continents (?) and other lands that had a different relationship with Pokemon back then," Yuina returned, still she left the book untouched.[break][break]
"The Jubilife village settlers were not the first humans to come to Hisui though. Hisui did have its own natives, they were known as the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan. They were the ones who understood what it meant to co exist and live alongside the Pokemon of their land. Before 'pokemon training', the clans had wardens who were charged with being partner to a 'Noble Pokemon', and together they cared for the different sacred lands of Hisui," Yuina offered. The Jubilife Village settlers were colonizers, travelers from other settlements, of course they wouldn't understand the environment or the Pokemon that already called it home well before they arrived and began to build.

As it turned out, there was a simple explanation: Colonialism. Learning of Hisui's native tribes that predated the Jubilife villagers was enlightening. Another piece in the puzzle that was the history of their long coexistence.

"Noble Pokémon... Those sound important. And each of them had its own warden? That sounds a bit like the avatars of today, doesn't it?" Andrea observed, wondering if legendaries choosing humans to represent them was perhaps a direct continuation of that ancient custom.

Noticing how Yuina had not touched that old book since they began talking about Hisui, the minor Gym Leader cocked an eyebrow. "You know all of this by heart? Wow, you must be really good at your job!" She remarked.

Yuina thought momentarily over Andrea's wonderings, she wasn't entirely incorrect in a round about way.[break]
"Hmm, maybe so. It is said that the Noble Pokemon were descendants of Pokemon that were blessed by the gods, and so they protected their region," Yuina mused, that was certainly an interesting thought. Noble Pokemon weren't unlike an avatar in that way, receiving a blessing from the gods.[break][break]
She blinked behind her glasses at Andrea's musings of how good she was at her job. And yes, she was.... Good at her job, that was exactly it.[break]
"Oh, the history of hisui is in another set of books somewhere. But I'm just passionate about the subject like you are about yours," Yuina smiled, true enough. She maintained studious work on the subject, and spent hours on end within her exhibit.[break][break]
"I have a good memory though I guess, that helps things along," Yuina nodded, and the layers of irony that went into the innocent statement were truly laughable.

‘Noble Pokémon’ was more of a hereditary title, not unlike human nobility. As for Yuina’s uncanny memorization ability, it was a result of her being passionate about the subject.

“I see, I see. I’m only this passionate about Pokémon because I practically grew up around them ever since I was a baby.” Andrea mused, fondly reminiscing of playing with the various critters (big and small) that occupied her family’s ranch.

“What about you?” She then asked, giving her fellow girlie an inquisitive look. “What made you fall in love with Hisui?” Everyone’s brainrot had to originate from somewhere, after all.

The connection of Andrea's passion about Pokemon was made clear, her entire childhood and onward was filled with Pokemon, fueled by her interactions with them.[break]
"I couldn't imagine any other way that your love for Pokemon would manifest. It really shows with how well you care for your Pokemon, like Jalapeno," Yuina smiled, glancing down to the Fuecoco, a beaming product of Andrea's undying love and studious care. She returned the question though, what made her fall in love with Hisui? Yuina's eyes glossed behind her glasses for a moment, there were... So many things that she loved, so many things that she remembered, so many things that she missed...[break][break]
"Uhm," she stammered a moment, her tone growing a bit sullen.[break]
"There uh, there was an incident, some months back in the fall, lots of casualities and missing persons reports that got closed. But... there were some casualties that couldn't be accounted for, because it turned out, there was a group of Hisuian natives that ended up on the wrong side of a time space distortion, they traveled through time from their land to here in Hoenn... And didn't survive," Yuina recalled, laying her arms across her desk, eyes cast down.[break][break]
"At the time, no one knew what it meant for them to be Hisuian, or where Hisui was, and... That just wasn't going to sit right with me, knowing that they were going to be erased, forgotten, they didn't deserve that. They, and their history, deserved to be heard, studied, visible. They became a part of Hoenn that day and that meant that Hisuian history became a part of Hoenn's history. It felt like the right thing to cling to, and not let go."

The incident. It sounded like she was referring to Route 119, where those alien cannibals had last been sighted along with the Toxic Chain that had plagued Hoenn's wildlife very recently. This was the first time Andrea was hearing that Hisuians had been involved, though.

"Hisuian Pokémon used to be anomalies pulled out of those same distortions, but thanks to the efforts of Breeders around the region, they've become part of our beautiful ecosystem. So, in a way, they ARE part of Hoenn!" The young PokéManiac observed. She vividly remembered her shock when her Goodra had suddenly grown a hard-as-Steel shell. Times had changed since then.

"I hope you continue to discover new and amazing things about their history!" The Fuecoco enjoyer added with a genuine smile. "I'm gonna keep looking for ways to further my own research too. You've given me a lot to think about. Thank you so much!"

There was a tinge at that word... Anomaly... as Andrea nodded along with how Hisuian Pokemon were becoming integrated into Hoenn's history day by day. Yuina hated the word at this point, that lofty voice that called to her, lorded over her, within the distortions... But she smiled all the same with her friend's enthusiasm.[break][break]
"I'm glad I could help you Andrea, this was a reall nice visit," Yuina returned, moving to stand from her desk.[break]
"I'm no scientist, but let me know if there's other things I can do to help you along. We researchers have to stick together after all," she mused.
