"how long left?"

to hold their position in this dingy outpost is suicide, or at least it would be for anyone other than matias. with his pokemon spread across the area, holding back rocket after rocket that for whatever reason come in pairs, he manages.

he survives.

but as flames close in on him, he knows his time is running out. his blastoise's HYDRO CANNON can only hold them back for so long.

a figure approaches; rocket, definitely, but unknown to him.

"how nice of you to surrender."

Flying in on a Charizard, Dorian attempted to blast the soldier with a Flamethrower. Despite the fact that the Blastoise extinguished the fires with a Hydro Cannon, the murderous pyromaniac's demeanor didn't falter.

"Funny, aren't you the one on the losing side?", Dorian retorted.

"Not only did that rat Weyland stab us in the back, but he couldn't even kill you! Looks like I get to finish what he started!"

A Magmar lifted his arms, clearing the skies of clouds. A Sunny Day washed over the battlefield, ushering in an oppressive sunlight.

The Charizard, taking in the unimpeded sunlight, before unleashing a Solar Beam towards the Blastoise.

the oppressive sunlight of SUNNY DAY is welcome.

his hands move over his belt at impressive speed, switching his blastoise out right as its PROTECT forms. as SOLAR BEAM crashes into the invisible barrier, inevitably cracking through, his magmortar materializes to tank the attack.

it dashes forward moments later, SCREECHING as it runs through the SOLAR BEAM before attempting to THUNDER PUNCH the charizard.

As the Magmortar barreled through the Solar Beam, a Blaziken called down a Rock Slide to shield his Charizard partner from the Thunder Punch. In preparation for what was to come next, the Blaziken Bulks Up his body.

The Charizard took to the skies, once again attempting to snipe the Blastoise with a Solar Beam.

"Now, do I kill you here, or do I leave you alive to watch your precious home burn?", Dorian mused out loud.

his precious home is already burning and it will continue to burn; he isn't foolish enough to believe otherwise; but he refuses to go down without a fight.

magmortar tanks the SOLAR BEAM and does its best to fight through the damage. up close, its eyes pulse in a CONFUSE RAY to try and take the CHARIZARD out of the battle, allowing it to focus on the BLAZIKEN — a LOW KICK follows.

"what makes you think you'll be the one to finally take me down?"

"Which will make your death all the more satisfying!", Dorian retorted.

The Charizard looked on in annoyance as the Magmortar tanked the Solar Beam. The Charizard dodged the Confuse Ray. While the Blaziken found himself being knocked down by the Low Kick, the Fighting-type quickly hopped back to his feet, before calling down another Rock Slide on top of the Magmortar.

"I'm very motivated to one-up that backstabber!", Dorian remarked.

"as much as i fucking hate that man, you aren't anywhere close to matching wayland. and if he couldn't kill me, then you certainly can't."

the ROCK SLIDE never finds the magmortar. the fire-type is consumed by a slim red beam, recalled before it's crushed underneath the attack only to be recalled a moment later before the dust even has a chance to settle.

it stands atop the rocks, once more firing a CONFUSE RAY at the blaziken this time. and, with its other arm, it fires a SMOG right in its face.

Dorian greeted the man's remark with a maniacal laugh. "Oh, you'll find me more than a match for Weyland!"

Though the Confuse Ray hits the Blaziken, the smog failed to reach the Fire-type. Dorian too recalled his Pokemon, before it could be consumed by the cloud. Dorian deploys the Blaziken again, this time attempting to throw the Pokeball behind Matias.

As the Blaziken was deployed, the Fire-type attempted to deliver a Blaze Kick directly at the man.

his hand finds another pokeball but it doesn't open fast enough to stop the BLAZE KICK from squaring him in his back. he's shoved to the ground, shirt and skin burning as he rolls away, gritting his teeth in pain as he does so.

"fuck off."

as static sounds in his ear, he knows he's done enough to give them a fighting chance, which means his job here is done. he may be cocky and arrogant but even matias silph knows his limits. he will live to fight another day.

"magmortar!"

the call summons another SMOG, this time used to cloud the scene to allow them to escape with their tail tucked between their legs.
