in truth, it is nothing to scoff at. ranger captain is a high achievement and to reach it at such a young age is admirable as is. but Raziel Beckett reached higher than that only to fall back down.

Of course he thought little of himself, it was yet another part of the conditioning. Even when the other complimented him he knew his work in the field said otherwise for the longest time. He knew what others said when others figured he couldn't hear, some not even bothering to hide it. [break][break]

"Yeah... well congrats on being part of the minority, but didn't help against the vocal majority then," he huffs having been looking down most of the time as he didn't want to meet that 'disappointed' gaze his subconscious feared the other would have. "And your back handed compliments don't change anything now," he comments now looking back up at him. Razz noting the way Theo had expressed his disappointment in his position now yet now seemed to compliment. The other still confused him on his treatment of him, and in spite of everything. He knew he needed to keep his guard up around this man. Whether the compliment was intended for that or not, he didn't want to be hurt more.

patience would have rewarded Raziel Beckett with the opportunity to peel away from his father. theo would have offered them that — he would have offered that and more because he once cared for the boy, and despite himself, he valued them far more than anyone else.

that has since changed, but he can't help the slight swell of pride at how they're attempting to turn this around on him.

Sadly when it came to Team Rocket and it's most loyal members, there wasn't any. Rocket essentially made their wants your wants. One of his many problems with them. He watches with his good eye as the other seems to go through some cards, wondering if this was meant to be come game to the other. There is a pause at the question as he tries to think it over.[break][break]

"Deep down sure... there is a part of me that would like you to, but now that I've left I don't expect you to," he clenches a fist and unclenches to try and remind calm with the threat. "You'll choose Rocket over me just like everyone else has"

He's confused now, this doesn't feel like something the older man would tell him. Theo for him had always executed what was meant to be the perfect loyalty to Rocket. Though maybe it was all a perspective thing from what he understood back as a kid vs what he understood now of people. [break][break]

"I.... don't know," he's not used to this type of kindness from the people of his past, and he can't help but be weary of it. "I..." he shuts himself down as he tries to think. Unsure if he should trust this or not. "Lets say I did? Then what?" was this the part where the man just call him a fool? Or could this actually be genuine? Not something he could read as even now people were still a struggle with him.

There is that kid deep inside of him that so desperately wants this to be real. That sixteen year old who just desperately wanted someone to understand that he didn't belong. Maybe it wouldn't have led him into the league and rather just some civilian, but that was a different reality. Razz needed to consider the consequences of this one now. [break][break]
