Murmurings had turned toward louder concerns when it was realized just how many people had disappeared.[break][break]
Given the historical trend toward these sorts of occurrences, Lam couldn’t say he was too surprised–just grateful that he wasn’t mixed up in it.[break][break]
Though that wasn’t to say he didn’t care at all.[break][break]
There were friends he suddenly couldn’t get in touch with. Greyson Connors. Genevieve Cromwell. Among others.[break][break]
So linking up to a search group came easily. An immediate choice. The chasm also seemed like a good place to start, glimmering crystal crawling up the walls and glowing with eerie light.[break][break]
Lam fell back toward someone hanging at the edge of the group. He wondered who it was they were looking for, because most everyone was searching for someone. He didn’t ask, though. Instead– “Dunno how much luck we’re having here.”

Eris Halla vanished. Isaac Merlo missing. Cillian Quinn and his husband leaving the dogs out for days. jayden cross and his little toy (fern delaney) gone. howard slayte not answering his booty calls. Chu-e's network had failed him in a way that was proving to be... unnatural.[break][break]

So Chu-e goes to work himself.[break][break]

The Gym Leader's presence surprises him. Chu-e doesn't know if lam logan is just doing his civic duty or has a personal stake in this. Regardless, he places himself closer to the man than the others in their party. Maybe he could get some sort of information out of him.[break][break]

"Yeah. This feels like a dead end." Agreeable, pleasant, a touch of sadness. The perfect color a voice should hold for this situation. "I'm really worried about my daughter. This all feels like going in circles...."

He doesn’t know what Chu-e Choi is doing here, or who he’s looking for, but it’s easier to drift out of the spotlight. Despite his job, he’s always been more of a wallflower—far more comfortable on the fringes of a group than taking up the light in the center.[break][break]
And if Chu-e has ulterior motives, he remains unaware.[break][break]
“Maybe we should try a different route.” Their guide hadn’t exactly advocated for breaking up the main pack, but if they were being honest…bigger numbers meant more noise.[break][break]
