Beyond the doors of the fitness center on Team Rocket's submarine, one found all manner of equipment and machinery common to a gym for humans. Treadmills, ellipticals, racks of dumbbells, cable machines, and even barbells with heavy weights. For all members of the crime syndicate, they were free to use at all hours of the day. [break][break]

Zev waited in the back, past the machines and weights. There, sparring mats covered a large area of the floor. There, he trained groups of recruits in basic hand-to-hand combat. On occasion, however, he did meet grunts for one-on-one lessons—either those with promise and potential, or those who specifically requested them. [break][break]

Zev looked up as one such grunt approached. Finishing his warm-up, he stood to address the stranger. [break][break]

"You're Khan?" the Rocket Beast asked, his tone cold and detached instead of curious. Blue eyes assessed the younger man with a critical gaze. "The one who asked for a combat lesson?"

Derek grumbled under his breathe slightly as he looked at a wall map. It was a submarine. It shouldn't be that hard to find a damn weight room. After find it on the map, he realized it was, luckily, close by, and made his way to the door. Staring at the door for a moment, Derek quickly did some minor stretches and then opened the door.

Derek couldn't help but let his eyes widen a bit looking at all the equipment. He hadn't expected such a large amount of stuff in a submarine. Looking around, he noticed the few people here and saw a man standing near some mats in the back of the room. Making his way over to Zev Harcourt , he gave a respectful nod to the Beast.

"Yes, I'm Khan. Thanks for agreeing to meet with me. Asked around a bit, and was told you teach a lot of beginners in CQC, and if I'm going to be fighting in a war instead of just pit fights, I figured I should do my best to improve quickly." Derek's monotone voice rang out softly.

Taking off his loose jacket, Derek would reveal that he had at least shown up to train in comfortable, slightly worn sportwear. He wasn't jacked, but a life fighting other youths and then dealing with disgruntled criminals in back alleys had left a few scars along his arms and hands.

So Derek was a pit fighter. That did not surprise Zev, as many recruits had rough pasts, at the very least. Some even had criminal backgrounds. Though the Rocket Beast did not care to know this grunt's history, he did concern himself with Derek's abilities. [break][break]

"Then show me what you know. That will give me an idea of your strength and technique." [break][break]

Safety first, however. The younger man had only just shown up to the fitness center. [break][break]

Zev gestured to the nearby exercise machines. "Do you need to warm up before we begin?"
