Johanna had decided to take a quick tour at the Safari Zone. There was no particular reason. She just figured she could use the fresh air.

By her side Clay levitated. The Claydol hummed a melody that it had concocted. It was a discordant mess of rumbling earthy tones. But to its hearing it sounded good. After all, it had heard it's trainer hum similar tones many times before so surely it could not be bad. It was really bad, like nails on a chalkboard.

But Johanna didn’t have the heart to tell him, but perhaps a wild Pokemon would come by and disturb the awful music.

Claydol’s humming was brought to an end as a Fletchling thought it wise to attack. A quick ACROBATIC maneuver disturbed the Claydol in its track, forcing it out of BALANCE for a quick moment.

Claydol quickly regained his balance though, and as the Bird went in for seconds the clay figure raised rocks with its ANCIENT POWER. The display of power was enough to strike fear in the avians heart, and so it flew away.

With the battle over, Johanna and her Claydol moved on.

A reckless Mienfoo thought Johanna and her Claydol were easy prey. It bounced at them, trying to DRAIN PUNCH the Claydol who simply LEVITATE’d out of the way.

A quick shimmer of blue announced the psychic energies Claydol sent into the future, and moments later the Mienfoo flew away, pushed by an unknown force as the energies collided with the small body.

“Weren’t you a bit rough there?” Johanna asked.

The Claydol did not respond. Probably had been.

The next Pokemon to be stumbled upon was a Varoom. It had been taken a good, nice, hopefully well earned, nap when it was rudely awoken by Johanna and her Claydol.

Unfortunately with a Slow Start the little engine got off on the wrong cylinder and began to TAUNT johanna and Claydol. They were not inclined to let such foulness go unpunished and so Claydol

A wave of EARTH POWER washed over the little engine, defeating it quickly. And allowing Johanna to throw a Safari Ball at the little Pokemon.

As Johanna and Claydol continued on their way. They were beset by an Ambush predator. The plant-like Lileep thought them easy enough pray and so tried to tangle them in its MEGA DRAINing tentacles.

It may have tickled a little bit had Johanna not decided that now was as good a time as any to train Claydol’s Terastelization. And so with a flash of light and the sound of forming crystals the Claydol found itself adorned with a ghostly hat.

Its new typing kept the damage of the grass type down to a minimum, before it retaliated with an ICE BEAM. The beam of ice was quickly followed by a thrown Safari Ball from Johanna.

The next Pokemon to stumble on their path was a Pichu. It ran head first straight into them, and as Johanna looked closer she saw a group of older Pikachu following it. Clearly bullies the way they had hunted it.

And so she picked it up. Now safe in her arms the bullies seemed to feel less inclined to pursue. And so left them alone. The ground rising in battle display from Claydol and its EARTH POWER certainly helped as well.

When they were gone Johanna offered it a Safari Ball, hoping it would accept it.
