Dig the Ursaluna worked on pushing up one last large sand mound to shape it as Daikenki glittered in water tera crystal, using his soak to make sure they had plenty of water for shaping and molding.[break]
Splattered and speckled with beach sand and sea sprays, Yuina looked out as she worked on the sandy wall to her 'opposition', and one Eris Halla who too was working on a sand castle of her own. Soon, once preparations were done, it would be time...[break][break]

[attr="class","eris109"]Forget castle. This structure is nothing short of a fortress and an impenetrable one at that, if she's done everything correctly.[break][break]

"How's it looking, Einar?"[break][break]

A chirp rings from overhead, and a pair of Woopers slip past her on a skateboard with a sandbucket in tow. A bit deeper into the fort comes a gentle glow, brought about by beautiful spiralling patterns that illuminate the dark. And the light Mayday provides helps Kevin see where to lay down his Mud Bombs to solidify the walls.[break][break]

Hearing the voice trail across the waves, Eris leans out of her creation, briefly meeting Yuina's gaze.[break][break]

"Uh..." Her eyes flit around, as if searching for something. Then light up, as they land on an approaching Luxray with an empty bucket hooked upon his tail. "Hurry up, Reiner!"[break][break]

He sighs, but still proceeds to pick up his pace. And when she gestures wildly to the bucket, he takes a deep breath and sighs even louder, begrudgingly turning the bucket upside down and placing it on his head. It can only really get worse when she picks up her shovel, sand still falling from it as she raises to point it at Yuina.[break][break]

"Now we are! Bring it on!"

Fruitlessly wiping her hands together in an attempt to rid herself of some of the sand she was covered in, Yuina stood and looked at the fair bit of work that she and her Pokemon had already accomplished.[break]
Then she looked over to Eris, and her fortress... This must be a favorite game of hers...[break][break]
Yuina clicked her tounge, not sure that she and her Pokemon would be able to do much in comparison, and surely if she got hit one time pretty good it'd be game over, but the war had only just begun![break][break]
"Alright," Yuina across the sand, Dig and Daikenki were ready, and so too was Nimbus who was buzzing with electricity and excitement, even just being out on the beach was something he adored, the Raichu just couldn't contain himself![break]
At the call that all was set, Nimbus radiated electricity and chittered in delight, putting the pedal to the metal and already rushing into his stoked sparksurfer as he zipped through the air. There was a mighty flash, an incredible flash of lightning, a brilliant spray of beach sand and some bits of gleaming singed glass... That was now the remnants of Yuina's own castle.

Given how dangerous it must be around such temperatures, never did she expect to see a live demonstration.[break][break]

Well this is awkward. She can't imagine this being Yuina's gameplan. Neither can Reiner, with that confusion written all over his face. Good. At least she isn't the only one that doesn't understand the strategy here.[break][break]

Yuina barely had any time to dive out of the way before the sprays of beach sand nearly burried her from Nimbus' uncontaineable excitement. Dig harumphed at all of his hard work being squandered as the sand and beach glass settled, and Yuina slowly emerged from the pile of sand that she had found herself in.[break][break]
"... Nimbus...," Yuina murmured, the Raichu chittered, alight with buzzing electricity, but his ears fell at realizing... He'd hit the wrong castle actually...[break][break]
Yuina made a half hearted attempt at wiping herself of sand, as she was now effectively covered in head to toe as she stood up, looking around at the spectacular divot that had been created at the explosion. They were just about to get started too![break][break]
"If you help, maybe I'll stand a chance, clearly you've done this before," Yuina laughed after the initial shock, taking up a bucket again as Dig began his work.

Arceus knows she only got away with it since he took responsibility for the mayhem. This time around... she'd tone it down! Or say it was just a friendly spar. No one would bat an eye if that were the case, right?[break][break]

"But if you wanna know my secret, my castles are big and strong cos of my Wooper buddies right there! The water they add to the sand helps create this kinda... surface tension! And that's what keeps the sand all sticky together!"

Sandcastle explosions so big they filled the sky? Yuina had no reason to doubt Eris, she fully believed that was an event that took place.[break]
"Which gym leader was that? I bet that was their most interesting match they'd ever done," Yuina wondered, smiling at the thought of how truly chaotic that must have been. It sounded like Eris had quite a bit of fun with it.[break][break]
"Yeah? You're sure it's not also due to Reiner's very enthusiastic and wholehearted efforts in making sure you have the best castle ever," she smiled, only teasing, but she couldn't help find the Luxray's humoring of Eris a little amusing. He was such a trooper.

A scrunched nose and a squint is all she gets in response. Heaven knows the Luxray would dunk her head in the sand if he had to deal with itty bitty grains stuck between his toes.[break][break]

Working out a large pile of sand that Dig had dug up, Yuina poured out some water over the mound to begin shaping it as she listened to Eris. Seemed gym battles and taking on those gym leaders was something pretty common, she could name a fair handful of her friends now that were either gym leaders themselves or had those badges.[break][break]
"Maybe one day instead of a sand castle you could build a tree house and defend that for a gym battle, huh? Maybe Reiner would like that one," Yuina wondered, it sounded like anything could be possible for the goal of a match.[break]
"Do you have a lot of those gym badges?"

A lie. She'd run that exact gym once. Though the pokemon were wild pokemon that were in cahoots with her.[break][break]

"I have quite a few badges! Got the Aurum badge from Mossdeep not too long ago!!" She nods, moving out of the way as Reiner helps to pat a wad of sand in. "Mr Gwyar's super strong. If Lyney didn't have all those extra years of training with my pa, we probably would've lost."

Splashing a bucket of water over a section of the sand she was working on, Yuina listened on as Eris took to the idea of a gym with tree houses and such as opposed to sand castles. It sounded like she'd already thought through it pretty well and would make for a very dynamic battle field.[break][break]
"Well, I don't know what it takes to become a gym leader, but it sounds like you already have a good idea," Yuina laughed, piling on a bit more dry sand to the section she was working on. With Eris' help thus far, this was an immense improvement on the castle that she had managed to make before.[break][break]
"That's right, Gwyar did step into that position recently, I've worked with him a couple of times. Couldn't imagine trying to battle him," Yuina returned, recalling the officer and the handful of times that she had worked alongside him. Alongside him was definitely a better place to be than against him.[break]
"What do you battle the gyms for Eris? What do the badges mean to you?"

She supposes it's the heart. A heart in the right place and a purpose that must carry them and others around them onwards. Or at least, that was what she had gotten in her few months as a minor gym leader.[break][break]

"Why do I challenge..." A frown tugs at her lips as she settles into thought. "Well, for fun, I guess?"[break][break]

It probably isn't an answer that most would like to hear.[break][break]

"Never really had any interest in challenging the gym circuit for real. No interest in being a champ, y'know? If I win, that's great! But losing just means I have more things to learn. It doesn't really stop me from going on to become an adventurer like momma was."
