Training had been ramping up for a while, ever since that address by Boss Walsh, Kouji had expected this. It felt almost hollow, all of this hardwork; but it also felt different to every other operation that had been in the works.

It wasn’t just a matter of pokemon training, but the physical work had gone up, moving items, moving people, moving pokemon. Even now, Kouji was in the middle of fighting; moving between punches, he blocked one that had come dangerously close to landing at his liver with his elbow, the hiss of pain from his opponent caused him to dive forward, taking the leg of his comrade, and pulling at it while pushing with his shoulder, and turning.

A standard single leg takedown, before he straddled the opponent fist held tight before he got up onto his feet, and rubbed his elbow. ”Good hit, fucking sucks. Get your fist checked out, I’ll see if anyone wants a three way fight.”

Yet as he looked around the training area, he found his eyes landing on a familiar frame. Kouji flashed a momentary smile before he waved. ”Yo Admin Cross, see that you’re busy, which means we’re busy.”

Ever since they had come back from that prismatic prison, Jayden had not been himself. Or perhaps, he was more of himself.

There was certainly something different; Kouji didn’t step as close as he usually did; it seemed that the Grunt was not the only one going through something. He kept a neutral stance, a hand in his pocket, overall a generally casual looking appearance.

But the look in his eyes was anything but as he looked the admin over, a mixture of concern, apprehension and exhaustion further emphasized by the bags underneath his eyes. ”It’s been going fine, helping where I can. Training my pokemon, and keeping myself in shape like always. Should try one of my shakes sometime, sir.” He tried to keep it casual, and lighthearted.

Still, he hadn’t gotten any real answers, it was easy to tell something else was brewing, but exactly what was it? ”Up for a spar?” He said as he rolled his shoulders, he could ask during the clash, when blood began to run over. Perhaps that would be able to melt the building icy atmosphere.

”Aye, I’ll remember to. Fenelle Huh?” He spoke with some surprise, he hadn’t met her yet; but it didn’t seem like they were particularly new either.

A half smirk on his expression as his challenge had been accepted; he carefully crafted his stance. Kouji slid his lead leg forward, right arm the same as he put his guard up high; as if his face was going to be protected by his own forearms. His golden eyes narrowed as he gradually slid forward.

Close combat was perhaps one of the few skills he could say he had and he took a lot of pride in it, his specialty so to speak. But being in this organisation was humbling, there were others that could outdo him even in that.

So he gradually slipped forward with his lead leg before he kicked out low at Jayden’s shin to test out the range between them, ready to follow it with the same move over and over.

”Seems like you’ve gone through a lot sir…Not that it’s my problem, I just wanna kick your ass quick.”

Kouji saw the avoidance of his kick; it was a high attack aimed at his fist; he had no choice but to block it, crossing his arms over his head, and stepping back to avoid falling over from the sheer force of the strike.

Jayden was strong in close combat, but that much was to be expected.

He used the momentum of his backstep to lead into a spinning back fist, turning his back on his opponent was dangerous, even if it was a for a moment. But sometimes you needed the bait of an obvious move to draw someone in.
