Navy fixates on a cigar, rolling through his thumbs. Had he found himself in any other circumstance, this cigar would simply be a cigar. Tonight, it is fascinating. "The possibilities surrounding how a person's body can change under infinity energy stay unknowable." he said, staring at what could've been a hologram for all he knew. But there's not fancy tech on, no Porygon transmitting data. "This takes sleepwalking to a whole new level too." he added as he looked over the unconscious body. A strange headgear attached to Navy, along with little wipes taped onto him to capture his vitals. "Thank you for agreeing to stay the night." he said, as scientists bustled around checking data as well as the new avatar's condition. [break][break]

"I want to test the toll of your sleepwalking on your body. If you ever dip into Deep sleep or stay in REM for 8 hours." He'd pulled up a chair, leaning back on the plush back and idly moving back and forth as he looked down at his own notes and then at the ground. He wondered idly if this was the same kind of mist that often surrounded tera crystals. [break][break]

"This could be a covert tool for communication...if you could control who sees it." he noted, looking over the man's translucent body. He takes pause as the E4 turns his attention away from his strange consciousness and back to him. "Well, we're doing a full physical when you wake up. I think we only grabbed a few blood samples earlier before rest." he said before showing off his clip board. [break][break]

"I'll ask you some general questions and you answer me honestly. We don't have Reshiram to guarantee that, but you look like a bad liar anyway." he said with a snort. "Some things come with instructions. Anyway, you ever been treated before?"

“I’ll put it to ya this way,” he laughs the jovial laugh of a comfortable man, “I wouldn’t play Poker with Gunner or you.” Which, he thinks, carries the point well enough. His best lies, these days, are lies of omission and silence. Rarely is he asked the right questions by the wrong people, a trick that carried him well in the days where he had one foot on the right side of the law and one in the shadows.[break][break]

"I try to bank on an alarm clock, and leave my phone in my living room." he added. Crisis was always pending in Hoenn, but he'd be better prepared to serve if he was well rested. “You know the really messed up part? I don’t think she would. Break our bond, I mean. Not over that. She’d just be…” His lips part in a wry, humorless smile. “disappointed. Like Hattori is when I don’t eat, or my Urshifu when I slack in training. Somehow, that seems worse to me.”

"Mmm, that's good. We're unsure if the avatarship takes out more energy with a body trying to balance circulating more infinity energy within itself. Could be more or less, depending on patronage or skills used." he said, another ramble. There's a lot of variables within avatar to avatar. There's not enough research yet to detect the slight patterns. They couldn't be all the same, but he's sure there's a pattern. Infinity energy, he imagined, took a toll on the body. "Sorry." his apology is whispered as scientists scurry to obey commands before the moment is past and the reading is lost. He looks back to the project, or well, Navy, and carefully scooted his chair further away from the E4. "We'll come back to this." he said, gesturing as his human vessel. He nodded. "Not today, but, at some point this week if you could try testing how far you can travel in this form, I'd appreciate it." he said with a small nod. [break][break]

"The...Slumbering Weld? you said?" he asked, eyebrows furrowing. He scratched at the clipboard as his mind worked its way through years of memory, sliding back to his university years. He nodded. "Doesn't surprise me. That joint hallucination left so many of us confused and battered. Took me a couple of months to recover completely." And it'd led to some harsh moments with , of all people. But then again, that'd been building due to his busy schedule. Paxton wrote down some notes on the Elite 4's answers. "Fair." He doesn't respond with the old adage of 'looks can be deceiving.' The answer matched the personality. He was busy annotating something when Navy spoke up next. "Almost every Avatar or shard holder in the League." Exceptions existed of course, but this was a volunteer effort. He snorted involuntarily, his pen shifting on the paper from the unexpected laugh he'd let out. "No, Navidson, not really." he said, shaking as he suppressed his humor. "Even if I wanted it, it's not enough to throw myself at a Legendary. That's not how this-" he gestured at the whole of Navy's spectral form, his body on the bed and the generic direction of Dewford for emphasis. "Works. From what I understand so far, anyway." "The Legendaries in our custody agree that we serve some aligned purpose, but it's not enough to just throw cannon fodder at their feet and beg for a boon." he said with a shrug as he put his clipboard in his lap and looked over at the astral projection. "In any case, while I appreciate the help, the conflict against Rocket will be won by the League pulling us all together. Not a 'hero' or 'demigod' shooting ice blasts out of his ass." he managed to grin though at the thought. [break][break]

"'Sides. I doubt Artiucno would enjoy paperwork." There's always that fear that he'd also end up just like in PRIMEVAL. His psyche, fractured and reformed after every horrible crisis he survived through. One look at the inner workings of his mind, the different compartments and drawers and nooks and crannies that he stuffed and cataloged every bad thing that had ever happened to him, would send even the strongest of psychic types running. Or worse, the most opportunistic of god creatures, slobbering, chomping at the bit for an easy puppet to enact their will, good or bad.

“Hmm.” He sits in quiet contemplation, listening to Paxton say what he will. To hear the most vivid decades of his life referred to as a collective hallucination stings, but he’s used to this blow by now. Most people dismiss it outright. Some don’t believe it happened at all. Only Zacian and Calyrex stand as proof that it really, truly happened – though he has no desire to argue this point with Paxton.[break][break]
“Nothing. There’s no record of Calyrex or the heroes. Remiel could probably trace their history, but it don’t seem like it’d get us anywhere.” Not with so much else at stake. Not with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Calyrex, Zacian, and Zamazenta are here. That is enough.
“You’re a bigger man than most people, Paxton.” Navy nods in acknowledgement. If he had a cup of mead, he’d raise it in Paxton’s honor. Power is a vexing thing. Men kill for it, many die for a taste. To turn away from that, to know one’s limits, is an honorable thing.[break][break]
“Some…part of me wanted to get a blessing and kill Silph after Kyle died.” The admission carries with it no small amount of shame. They’re on the same side, and he didn’t act on that impulse. “Arceus. He killed my best friend. Almost killed the woman I love. Glad I didn’t. Wouldn’t have brought Kyle back. Would’ve just made Rocket dance and brag about how we were killing ourselves with infighting.”[break][break]
Another question, for he finds Paxton’s thoughts enjoyable. If he’d fallen in with Paxton and back in his street rat days instead of drinking himself into a stupor after Meteno, how different might his life have been?[break][break]
“You think all these living legends are gonna stick around after the war’s done? Feels like a whole lotta people are gonna need counseling when their gods go back to sleep.”
