Another descent into the depths of the ultra sea, the expeditions were surely ramping up again with the necessity for materials and resources, and always studious work on studying the environment.[break][break]
"It never gets easier, being down here that's for sure...," Yuina agreed, no matter how many times she took the plunge, it was always just as jarring as the first time. At least she knew what she could expect... sometimes.[break][break]
"We'll start in on this cluster here," Yuina confirmed, moving with Nyla to begin carving into a crystal cluster. The Sneasler made easy work of striking into the tera crystal with her own poison laden claws.

“Aye, aye, captain.” Astrotrain’s protect took the shape of a space shuttle, covering both his trainer, and Yuina. They’d worked really hard at that.

Yuina pulls away a piece of crystal and the wall behind it makes a squelching noise.

“Blegh.”

A drop of something purple leeches from above, barely missing her face; it hits the ground and sizzles. “Aw, shit. A-T, mirror coat!”

The shiny Mudkip flashes reflective for a beat. She lifts him over her head and he takes the acid face-first, redirecting it at the user-- a small Nihilego, who hisses in pain and flees.

“Doubt that’ll be the last of ‘em.”

Striking away at the crystals and surrounding sediment, it was easy enough to forget that they were inside of a giant living organism... For the most part, until the flesh itself began to react to the crystals being removed.[break]
The fleshy noise made Yuina's stomach turn, giving pause to her and Nyla trying to take another strike for a moment, especially as it seemed their disturbance had started to alert some of the ultra beasts and other creatures that they were there...[break][break]
"I mean... We are like a virus, and the ultra beasts and other... things... in here act like white blood cells... but more dangerous," Yuina agreed, that one Nihilego would be far from the only thing keen on their presence if they didn't hurry now...

“Right, right. Do you think we’ll ever learn not to stick our nose where we’re not wanted?”

She let Yuina do her thing as she stood guard, unable to fight the anxiety gnawing in her gut.

Something slithered amongst the crystals-- she could hear it coming, as faint as a wasp upon a window pane, scratch scratch scratch. “Eyes up, guardian.”

It emerged from between the stone-- a long serpentine body, with the gnawing, sideways maw of a Pinsir. It gnashed its teeth and roared a horrific sound.

“Holy shit, that’s gross.”

Astrotrain sent it flying off into the abyss with a hydro pump.

"With everything that continues to happen around here? Probably not," Yuina digressed, there was one cataclysmic phenomena after another it seemed within the region, even if someone avidly tried to stay out of the way it still seemed like that couldn't last forever.[break][break]
Working on gathering as many of the crystals as she could, Nyla hissed with bared fangs at the slithering creature, more an abonimation really, that rushed towards them.[break]
"Go Nyla, I'll get what I can" Yuina urged, and the Sneasler rushed forward in time with the Mudkip's Hydro Pump to get in close with a Shadow Claw to strike at the snapping maw of their adversary.

The snake-Pinsir amalgam’s segments bisected with a hiss, spilling green goo all over the place. Alarmingly, the front and back halves continued to move around independently. Then, the half with no teeth grew teeth.

“I think that’s our cue to go,” she said, fighting the urge to vomit. “Exit stage anywhere but here.”
