It felt like years ago when Noel last stepped through these doors. Memories of a time when he was foolish and naive. Some, even himself, would say he still is. Still, he looked back to the past often, of times when things were much simpler, of when he simply wanted to be the best. Now those days are long gone, and his life has a new purpose.[break][break]

He heads inside, walking past familiar walls and furniture, until he finds himself back to where it all began. Tsubaki sure had changed the stadium a lot, he could hardly recognize it from its tenure under Navy. Once he's on his side of the arena, he stretches his arms and body out, preparing himself for one more duel in this building.[break][break]

"Tsubaki! Where are you? It isn't good to keep your challengers waiting you know."[break][break]

A smirks finds its way across his face with excitement building in his body. Hopefully, this would be a challenge, not for him, but her.

[attr="class","star2tsu4"]Things have changed, but the shadow of what once was still looms. The changes are mostly cosmetic. The main building still stands, and the halls leading out to the pitch do as well. The pitch itself is almost the same. Not much can be done to alter a field of grass.[break][break]

Tsubaki stands out on the pitch, hand on her hip. [break][break]

She sizes up Noel. He's the same as she remembers, a little less green than when she met him, but still a younger man eager to prove himself. She'd thought he'd done that already, when he last challenged Navy . Now that he's surpassed his mentor, it's on to challenge his other deputies. She supposes that's only natural.[break][break]

"Never one for patience, are you, Parker?"[break][break]

She's sure that's gotten him in trouble before. It's certainly gotten her in her own fair share. [break][break]

She can appreciate that.[break][break]

"Itching for a fight myself. You know the rules, don't you?"[break][break]

As if she needed to ask. Each gym was unique in their own way, with each gym leader bringing their individuality into their challenges. This one would be no different, and while it's been a while since they've last interacted, she seemed to have grown exponentially since then. She wasn't the only one though. The two of them had gone on separate journeys, but today, they converge and clash.[break][break]

Releasing his Shaymin and Hisuian Goodra out onto his side of the field, the three of them would look towards their opponent for the day while Noel gives her a soft smile.[break][break]

"Of course. Never thought I'd see the day where you would be on that side. You know I thought it'd be me there at one time... But I don't think it would suit me. I think you'd do a much better job than me anyway.... Now... I hope you're ready because we are."[break][break]

She says it with a smile. Remembering how thoroughly Navy beat lessons through her head, she felt like she'd been here countless times. But as far as an official match, it had just been the one. The rest hadn't been a fight, but the lessons had been just as intense. So she felt, at the time, anyway. But she felt oddly nostalgic, standing here. [break][break]

Now, she was the one mentoring people. At the very least, those were the shoes she felt she needed to fill. And what shoes indeed... [break][break]

"But we take what paths we're given. Sometimes, you just stumble on something. Sometimes, it stumbles on you. You fit the role of an officer well, Parker. You'd do well as a soldier."[break][break]

She draws two pokeballs from her hip. They resonate with energy as she calls them out, and two figures burst into view when the light fades. The first a giant nidoqueen, raised on her haunches and looking down at her foes with a regal air. The second, a tiny, floating pot, sticky green matcha inside, performing a gesture of hospitality as she greets her opponents. [break][break]

A soldier. Ever the dutiful warrior for the League. Is this the life he wanted to live? Just because he was a part of the League, did he feel like one of them? Their goals may align right now, but what about the future? What then?[break][break]

That was neither here or there. It was easy for him to become lost in thought when revisiting this place. Too many memories were etched here. Ones that could never be erased no matter how long time passed.[break][break]

His Pokemon stand ready, eager to begin the fight at their trainer's command.[break][break]

"If you don't mind then... Let's get this battled started!"[break][break]

Beginning with a light attack to gauge just how Tsubaki and her Pokemon would react, the pair of hedgehog and dragon combine their powers together with a Dragon Pulse and Seed Flare that culminate into a blast of dragon and grass energy. The attack aimed straight for the center of the arena, hoping to take out their opponents with one easy move.

[attr="class","star2tsu4"]Parker begins, and as if at the word 'go', Tsubaki's pokemon leap into motion. Combined grass and draconic energies swirl, and Midori floats ahead of Kigiku, holding the bottom of her teacup upright to the point she threatens to spill out.[break][break]

The attacks collide with the bottom of the cup, Midori protecting herself and her ally. The heat of the blast brings the contents of her saucer near to a boil, and she giggles mildly while Kigiku roars into action. A light shimmers at the end of the Nidoqueen's snout, an earth power shooting off her horn toward the large, encumbered drake.[break][break]

"Raw power, huh, Parker?"[break][break]

Tsubaki grins, enjoying the fireworks. She didn't bemoan that strategy. Strength was strength, even if it desired some semblance of strategy to really live up to its full potential.[break][break]

The Sinischa was going to be a problem. A Pokemon renowned for providing support to its allies, even with its small frame the teacup is able to provide respite in its rallying powers. Taking it down would be crucial in how this match will be played out. Easier said than down however.[break][break]

"I've found out that most people tend to give up when you show them your all right off the bat. Of course, I know that isn't going to work on you. It won't be easy to phase you, but I sure can try."[break][break]

To fight fire with fire, or in this case earth with earth, the Shaymin releases an Earthly Power of its own that crashes against the Nidoqueen's, fizzling each other out in the process.[break][break]

With this standstill, neither side would budge at this range. And so, the grass mythical hops on top of the dragon's head, before the latter charges forward towards their foes. A reckless but brave Body Slam would attempt and collide with the Sinischa in front and maybe even bring down the Nidoqueen along with it, hoping to take down two Pokemon with one move.

"It's a good strat. I agree. Ideally, though, you push the advantage when you get it!"[break][break]

Her sinistcha braces for an attack that never reaches it. The goodra goes careening by, shaymin atop its head and all, without connecting even once. The ghostly body of Tsubaki's sinistcha fades back into view, and it gives the drake a sheepish smile, as if it feels almost bad about it. Then, it sprinkles it with a green powder - matcha, that saps its strength. [break][break]

"... But Body Slam's a normal move, and my Midori's a ghost."[break][break]

Her nidoqueen reels back, to face the pair of pokemon behind them now. She focuses an orb of energy in between her hands, and shoots a focus blast at the goodra. It cuts the air, headed straight at the steel type.[break][break]

How careless of him. He could never recall whether certain Pokemon were ghosts or not. In his mind, ghosts were nothing but fiction, monsters used to frighten children into behaving. But no, in their world, they're as real as any living person or Pokemon.[break][break]

His mistake causes the fighting energy to crash head on into the Hisuian Goodra. The dragon being blown many feet away as the Shaymin atop its head holds onto for dear life by grabbing hold of its antennae. The slimy steel-type is harshly knocked onto the floor, slowly but surely rising back upright, in a daze.[break][break]

"Rrrgh... You've got me there... But it isn't over. We've still got a trick up our sleeve."[break][break]

With that said, his Shaymin readjusts itself, now planting its small legs on the Goodra's head as its body begins to radiate with a green glow. Something was gathering within itself, but they needed time.[break][break]

The dragon constructs a barrier around them in hopes of Protecting them from any and all oncoming danger. No matter what, it would stand its ground and make sure its partner harnesses all the power it needs.

Tsubaki glimpses the glow coming from the Shaymin, immediately familiar with Parker's next move. She grins.[break][break]

"Both of you! Focus on the shaymin, ignore the dragon!"[break][break]

The drake's protection wouldn't be broken in time, but if they were to go around it, strike while it was partially immobile from retreating into its shell, they might be able to forestall the attack to come.[break][break]

Kigiku immediately falls to all fours and breathes forth a swathe of flame, a fire blast that engulfs everything in front of her. Midori follows suit, casting a spell with her whisk and sending forth a boiling explosion of matcha -- a matcha gotcha![break][break]

The attacks spiral forth, a vortex of red and green, attempting to overcome the goodra's shield and strike the hedgehog sitting atop it.[break][break]

With arms stretched wide and their barrier stood in place, the slimy creature was ready to take this attack head on. All meanwhile the Shaymin continues in its meditation, attempting to gather up as much energy as possible in whatever time they had left.[break][break]

As the swirl of fire and grass mix together to form a mixture containing nothing but destructive power, it strikes against the shield, unrelenting at first, but soon cracking under the pressure. With all of its strength, the Hisuian Goodra holds out for as long as it can, but ultimately, succumbs to the grassy inferno.[break][break]

Dust fills the air, obscuring the arena completely. Neither side is unable to pierce through with their eyes alone. It would be easy to assume however, that Tsubaki would be the victor from this outcome.[break][break]

Silence hangs heavy, looming on until at last, it's broken by one simple word.[break][break]

"Now!"[break][break]

From out of the blue, a bright green laser penetrates through the dirt cloud like a cannon and blows its away completely, revealing Noel's Shaymin, bruised and covered in grime but still standing atop the Goodra's head who is in a similar state. Through will alone, it remains on its two feet to give the mythical Pokemon the height it needed.[break][break]

It was still a long shot, both literally and figuratively, but this Solar Beam contained all of its might for hopefully one fierce strike.

When the beam comes, the Nidoqueen is unprepared. She takes the brunt of it, buffeted and thrown across the arena where she falls, and lays prone on the ground. She does not raise her snout.[break][break]

Midori, meanwhile, prepares a protect just in time. She peeks out from the cup, jiggling nervously. [break][break]

"Kigiku!!" [break][break]

Tsubaki balks, screaming her name, a combination of exhilaration and anger in her voice. It takes her a moment to remember herself, so taken by the fight. [break][break]

"... That's the power of teamwork, eh? Your pokemon trust you, enough to brave a decisive strike. They trust you, Parker. Now it's two on one. You ready to finish this?[break][break]

Midori raises from her saucer, punching the air in preparation for whatever the battered duo have left. [break][break]
